  • does it help cures post nasal drip?

  • does hurt Mr. Z haha coolest science teacher ever :D

  • who are the morons talking in the background?

  • Does it really matter if you use iodized or non-iodized salt?

  • is it extremely uncomfortable?? I need to start doing this i am rather apprehensive lol

  • i snorted water to see if it wold work it did for a while then it came back noses get stuffy when there dry thats why he did that

  • чёкнутые

  • And they said that waterboarding was painful...

  • u felt great after this

    right !

  • Disgusting...so dirty

cleaning hid nose in the kitchen Sink

    YUUUUUUCK

  • @admanQ8 why?Sink is inox and and tap water has chlorine, there's no contamination danger.More disgusting is when you sleep with a runny nose and drips in your neck and stomach.

  • I just did this for the first time and flushed out most of the loose infection/muck I have up there.

It feels weird, but it has cleared my head.

  • does this reduce a bad morning breath?

  • HOW!?!?!?!? :D

  • eeww.... i kinda feel what its like have that...

  • All jokes aside...I mean I joked when I first saw it also many years back.

This is actually an ancient East Indian Vedic technique to clear your nasal passages.

I used the nasal decongestant Otrivin for almost 20 yrs before I tried this.

    BELIEVE ME !!

This is no joke. -It works.

Just breathe through your mouth while you're doing it.

  • @boojado

    "Yogic"??

This has been standard ENT advice for decades.

It's also good for chronic/recurrent sinusitis and for seasonal allergic rhinitis... rinses out the allergens.

And no, it doesn't hurt IF you use a standard concentraion (about 1/2 t. in a cup) of salt to match the body's salt concentration and use water at body temperature.

  • "Jala Neti" is the name of the yogic practice found in the ancient text Hatha Yoga Pradipika, dating from the 15th century CE. waterbouyish is absolutely correct on the salt mixture, which prevents stinging and any pain.

  • Great. My point was that the 'yogic' practice is no different from western practice. (Assuming they also use normal saline.) (+/- Baking Soda (NaHCO3))

To the fellow who was using Nasal decongestant sprays, 'for years'. That's a prescription for "CokeNose". Should never, if you're GOING to use them, use for more than a day or two at a time or you get dependant on them.

  • @waterbuoyish

is that 1/2 teaspoon or table spoon? excuse my dumb question. never attempt this before, but don't want it to my last. thanks

  • @nuterra 1/2 teaspoon! But it depends on water quantity. Experiment, you won't die from this.

  • Wow, he's cute.

  • does this result in the pain of getting water up your nose like in a pool?

  • If you use plain water it will sting like pool. Use salt water. You will need to experiment with concentration. Try a pinch of salt in warm (body temp) water to start.

  • Does this really work?? No joke please..cuz my allergies are horrible in the late summer..

  • it is amazing, no more claritin which by the way are very expensive now, I do this every other day or every day if I am having symptoms. I had severe allergies have tried every remedy know to man including those usless injections

  • how the hell i want to do that but scared of it gettin to my head lol

  • If you listen carefully you will hear "your eye"... turns out sinus cavities include the eye socket so water is actually coming out of Pete's eye at the beginning, sorry it can;t be seen. it doesn't seem to causreany harm, Pete can still see several years later LOL

  • neti pots are wonderful. not at all as scary as they seem, even for beginners. i love them!

  • gots a question: can u use a nedi pot if u hate water up ur nose? I mean how do u get over that? like in the pool if water so much as touches my nose i freek.

    please help.

  • To do this you put water up your nose, so if you don't like that you won't like this.

  • For some reason the powder you use in the mix doesn't make your nose have pain as the pool water does. At the beginning you might get that sensation of pain but it goes away in seconds when you feel the relief. It works really well. If you don't like the thought of sticking a Neti-pot up your nose the also have a bottle that you squeeze that works well.

  • @NephilemResNovae It doesn't hurt if you do it correctly with warm salt water.

  • how do you do this?

  • Where can I get one of those Neti pots?

I tried making my own but I think a purpose made one would work better.

  • amazon

  • wallgreens rite aid, cvs pharmacy they are pretty much everywhere

  • It has great health benefits and can be used as a party trick xD

  • Wouldn't it be a more sanitary idea to do this thing in the bathroom, keeping the snot away from the place we prepare food? Just sort of seems yuck to have snot right there by the dishdrainer.

And yes, this process works wonders. Takes 3 minutes in the morning and evening.Dissolve 1/2 teaspoon of salt in 8 oz of very warm water, tip ya head to the side, stick the pointy end up yer nose and let 'er rip. It hastens the exodus of a cold or throat slime, bad coughs, or sinus infections. Seriously!

  • what about beginners who want to do it ..a lot of ppl say its better not to do it if ur not familiar with do it under guidance of someone who knows ..

  • Not a bad idea to have a friend show you, but the main thing is to use salty water, not plain water (it will sting)

  • Thx I am gonna try this out but by myself i hope thats ok ..i'v ordered exactly the same one as in this video ...just one more thing how warm should the water be?

  • Lukewam, NOT hot. menderfire9 posted some good instructions.

  • hi monshes this video is very helpful for a lot of people, can you please tell me while doing this neti-pot treatment should you exhale forcefully to flush out mucus?? and should i use hot water or cold water?? what should i add in water??? please tell me i'm having a worst cold of my life.thank you.have a nice day.

  • is this used when you cant smell or taste anything? please respond

  • @alexbeathalo2 It is said that it improves your smelling and tasting.

  • I know this sinus irrigation looks weird but IT REALLY WORKS WONDERS!!! My husband had been doing it for months before I tried it. It helped me when I had severe sinus congestion (i did it about 4-5 times a day and it went away completely within two days without any drugs)

I am a believer in the neti pot and I will do it for life.

  • energetic fun smart and loves this video

    someone want to chat xt

  • next he'll show us how he wipes himself... get some dignity man!

  • hey man, and for what this?

  • Yes, I do this all the time.

  • With plain water, it will burn your nasal passage. With salt water, however, you will not feel the burning sensation.

  • is that vodka? nice!

  • this thins make your nose hole bigger o_o

  • 35-year-old overcome allergic rhinitis

  • I meant, it burns my nose just to watch someone do it. haha sorry I guess I should have specified.

  • HAHA this burns my nose!!!

  • Put a little salt in the water.

  • Now does this hurt? Does it work right away?

  • Nasal irrigation is grate! It really helps

  • Umm... o_0 Is this for real? I have really bad nasal congestion right now and um...

  • Pete is a real person, no actors here. He says it really works for him.

  • Hunh... Just wondering, you don't HAVE to do this, right? I mean, all this congestion will go away eventually, right?

  • whats yogic about bending over the sink with a pot shoved up your nose.

  • Dude, allow me to commend your neti posture.

  • naysayers be damned this works

I just used my stainless neti in my stainless kitchen sink and there's no problem.

however, i have found that blowing your nose forcefully like in this video is bad and can force water to bad places. The yoga pose is just to go into a bend with your head down as close to the floor as possible. I do not blow but let things dry naturally. My hearing is better and my ears pop for 15 minutes afterwards.

    it's great

  • im glad to hear your ears pop too. I just used my neti pot for like the third time and when I blew my nose afterwards my ears popped and squeaked, it was really weird :-/. At least I can breathe easier now!

  • I swear by this procedure. I've been doing it for just about a year now and now its part of my daily routine. Everyone should be 'washing' their sinus's. Take care all.

  • He is SO handsome even with a tea pot up his nose....... yeah, yeah, yeah, I know is a "neti pot".

  • I was thinking the same thing! He reminds me of a grad TA from college -- meow =)

  • How about using the BATHROOM sink!!!! Not in MY kitchen....LOL....call me old-fashioned!!!!

  • My first thought was ... is that a kitchen sink? My mom would soooo not allow that!

  • Why on earth would anyone do this - Get a SinuPulse irrigator much more effective and easy to use and you dont look so stupid

  • You must work for sinupulse, huh?

  • That looks like it hurts...! Does it?

  • Unless you use a warm saline solution (salt and water). There are instructions on the web regarding how much salt to use. It really will hurt if you use plain cold water.

  • siiick

  • This irrigates and cleans out the nose and that's a good thing ... but it does not reach the mucus trapped in the throat ... for that you need a one of those expensive contraptions.

  • To those of you complaining about pain, you need to read the instructions and carefully mix your saline accordingly. A properly mixed "isotonic" saline solution will actually feel really good and keep nasty colds from polluting your head. Use sterile water (boiled and cooled) and non iodized salt. If it's too salty or not salty enough (i.e. tap water) will hurt like hell.

  • I've tried this, I dont think I am getting the salt to water ratio right.. it is a bit uncomfortable... slight burning.. maybe practice makes perfect? I have SEVERE ear and sinus pain that can't be fixed medically (cept the tube) and I am trying this first.. first time, STUFF came out!!!

  • what sick person came up with that one??? ive done that before and in no way was it "relaxing" or "soothing"!!!

  • this is soooooooooo painful i tried it and got an insane headache for 10 minutes

  • Put some salt in the water, it will help with that.

  • Omg I just tried this with a similar device and it is Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo PAINFUL OMG.

EXPECT CRAZY HEADACHE FOR 5 minutes afterward

  • My grandfather told me about this over 20 years ago. But he just said use warm salt water in a cup and sniff it. It does help with congestion, but I have never thought of it as being a soothing treatment.

  • Now, wash the dishes in the sink. Sick. If I lived in the house you could never get it clean enough.

  • haha, omg that must hurt.

  • I don't believe in nose douching in the kitchen sink, washing hair nor bathing small humans or dogs or cats, That is the reason I am very particular about whose house I eat at.

There is a room in houses designed for this. Its called a "bath room". Animals should be bathed in a tub used only for that.

  • Same here, it is nasty my freind spit in my kitchen sink I got ready to backhand him(i didn't)=D

  • You are living in a fantasy world if you think those actions make a difference.

  • why do you think cleaning products are out there.. maybe your should be particular about eating at your own house considering most cutting boards contain more bacteria than a toilet seat per square inch.

  • They say it is cleaner to lick your dog's basket or even the toilet seat than the worktop in the kitchen!! Gross...

  • Irrigating your nose over the kitchen sink. Nice.

  • Ever try Sinus Buster??

  • I used one. It did come out my eye but my nose felt so much better after it all. I have had some bad allergies, and finally I feel better. I have to admit it does look pretty bad though.

  • i don't have a netipot ;(

  • yes for smile for when you do. for it is for the good health!

  • Does smiling's muscle change support the nose or something, or is this some silly emo thing?

  • nasty shit!!!

now go have a cup of tea!!!!

  • It's like taking a enema in your butt for constipation, instead you took a enema in your nose for your sinuses. Thats cool.

  • hahahaha, now do the ears

  • ... that made me laugh XD

  • Great video, I wanted to recommend this product to my family who all have extremem allergies.

  • And when you're done, you can treat your friends to a nice pot of tea!

  • Gross! In the kitchen sink!

  • This really works! I started getting sinus irrigations from my allergist when I was 13 years old (20 years ago). He used a tube instead of a pot to cleanse out my sinuses. I would go usually once a year and it really helped because I have a serious allergy problems. However once I started doing the allergy irrigations -- my sinuses have not been given me a hard time. I even used to suffer from SEVERE migrane headaches but this process really helps!

  • I understand the benefits of nasal irrigation, but in YOUR KITCHEN!? I just about threw up watching this guy spreading his mucusy germs all over his (or someone's) sink!

  • do you know anyone that uses their kitchen sink to bathe infants???? I have seen that so often. Also, hot water introduced into the sink with dishwashing soap will immediately kill any bacteria.

  • Absolutely. Clean the sink and there is no problem here! (Maybe people are reacting because they *don't* clean their sinks so regularly?)

  • And do you know that kitchen sinks are one of the dirtiest places in ones house? give me a break about bathing infants in the sink--of course you do! But if you had a choice re: blowing out your nose, use the bathroom sink. and this whole Youtube thing is ridiculous. We all apparently have too much time on our hands.

  • It's well documented that kitchen sinks are just about the dirtiest place in most people's homes, so I don't really think this is going to make it much worse. A lot of doctors say they'd rather eat something that's fallen into the toilet, than something that's fallen into the kitchen sink.

  • The man is ginger and he has a ginger beard. Notice that he is also using his milk jug to irrigate his nose. The fact that he is doing it in the kitchen is the least of my concerns.

  • IT's not a milk jug, it's a neti pot, i got one, i love it

  • Kitchen sink is not dirty after you clean it..

so if he cleans it afterward...

  • wen use bleach in out kitchen sink often... it kills germs and keep the dishes shiny.

  • This video gives a pretty good idea what nasal irrigation or jala neti (in Yoga-speak) is all about. I use the technique when my sinuses feel dry in the winter, or I've been doing a dirty or dusty job (like wood-working) or I feel a cold coming on. It really works. I used to get at least one sinus infection a year and when I get a cold, it was brutal. Now, my sinuses stay clear. And I'm not loading up on medications or antibiotics.
