Just my two cents, the closer you are, the harder it is to focus.

And, to see one image instead of three, put your hands up so your right eye doesn't see the right image, and the left eye doesn't see the left one. Since your right eye only needs to see the left image, and vice versa, this will work fine.

Hold your thumb a few inches away from your face. Focus on it. Remove your thumb from the picture but stay focused on the same area.

If it doesn't work, try some stereograms first.

@alejandrog269 It requires some practice, just keep trying and you can do it eventually. Remember to take breaks whenever your eyes start to hurt.

I just got this technique working for the first time today, but only pictures. I have trouble keeping my focus with videos.

@Vuk1mi you have the cross eyed part right but you need to try to focus more. It takes a little getting used to. And remember, it's never going to be absolutely perfect because your watching some thing cross eyed. Just try focusing

Thanks, this really helped me master it, what i did was

1. Pause the image, full screen

2. Sit back from the monitor about 3/4 meter away, head straight.

3. Put one finger above my head until i saw a black spot in the middle image, carried on looking at my finger, took it away and whilst still focused on where my finger was, look down and try and concentrate on the second column and it sort of focuses

4. Press the space bar, enjoy 3d

Now when i cross eye and it automatically focuses for me

I have mastered the cross-eye technique long ago for watching stereograms seems it's working on video too and it's much cooler. The problem if you have a big screen you need to go away from the screen to match the black dots in the center, up close is almost impossible. Anyway don't give up there is another way to do the cross-eye technique by looking at your finger and moving it away from you or towards you.

NOW I GOT IT... just focus the two black dots into one and dont focus on the monitor or the objects... it will clear out and at the very center you can see that it looks 3d except for the edge of the screen
