  • looks like him.. sounds like him.. but lacks George's "Something"

  • At some point, he did hated his father from treating him not equal compared to Sean. But he doesn't need to live that problem fro the rest of his life. It's something from the past, it may never fade in his mind but his shirt, says it all. ♥

  • I love Julian's music and it stands with the best of them. I hope he continues to write and sing if only for his own enjoyment. There is always independent internet release through which he can share his music with his fans.

  • No poor kid...Yeah...Giving his sons a skill is better than giving him one million pieces of gold.

  • When Valotte came out, I actually thought after hearing it, that DAD, had left an archive of un recorded tunes for Julian on the chance, he may try to follow in his footsteps. But, Julian IS his own man. Loads of talent. The Lennon voice of course, nothing wrong in that, in fact thank God he has it. But the kids writes and sings some great tunes. Valotte is still a fave and it had zero to do with John.

  • I think Julians shirt says it all

  • Sinceramente la carrera que mas respeto es la de Julian Lennon porque escribe sus propias canciones y no vive a la sombra de su padre.

Actualmenet Dhani tambien anda haciendo temas propios bravo por ellos

  • Sounds like Oasis, although considering Oasis has been ripping off his father for years, fuck 'em.

  • Is it the same guitarrist Paul McCartney uses nowadays?

  • HE HAD HIS TEETH DONE..LOOKS LIKE A VAMPIRE NOW.

  • Yoko should be flogged for making Julian pay for his own letter.

  • Julian has a album coming out in Sept. 2011 called " Everything Changes". Look for it. It is the first album he has recorded in some time and he sounds great on it.

  • After reading some comments and seeing proof about how wickedly bad Yoko was and how she treated the others, I firmly believe this: Yoko DID know about the Beatles and DID know about John Lennon. She planned all along to try to get him and then when she did, she put it in Johns head that he was the Beatles, and was better than the rest of em. Thus, she broke the group up, and then wouldn't even let the remaining members or even johns SON have much. That dumb chang bitch doesn't deserve anything.

  • Great song... This is one of my all time favorite LPs. ever..The whole LP is amazing.. it is also rare to find... I love Julian Lennon met him in 81 Volotte tour we partyied in four seasons with the band as welll / greaat guy... Love Julian Lennon.

  • John was a toxic person and Yoyo was disease.

  • it just makes me cringe.....

  • Good Julian!!!!you are very good musician indeed.

  • @KatManDude Actually, I agree with about 70% of what you said there. Actually, I do write music. And no, I'm not a music marketer or record company - although I can appreciate a well written, marketable pop song just like most other people in my age group. If you want to throw stones...you should look at where you're throwing them first. Google Sara Tiemogo

  • @JulianFan55a Given your screen name alone, I could argue that you are not in a position to listen to his music objectively from the music business perspective. I did not say that his music was "bad". Just that it is not marketable since it has an "already been done" sound. I record and produce marketable pop music. And I'm neither a fan nor an enemy of Julian Lennon. -Sara Tiemogo

  • @stiemogo I have JulianFan as a screen name but he is just one of my many favs. In my personal opinion, a lot of the music today sounds manufactured & unoriginal. I've found even a lot of the young people I've talked to love the older music over the new music. So perhaps Jules' music is more marketable than you think. As they say, sometimes one can be too close to the forest to see the trees. Do a search on Everything Changes (Rough Mix). I've heard the final cut on radio shows. New CD out soon.

  • @stiemogo

He's on Letterman, so he seems to be doing pretty well to me. The only people who give a damn about "marketable" music are record company marketing people. And you may have noticed that they haven't been doing so hot at that lately. People don't want what they're selling. Maybe you'd have more success if you'd concentrate on writing and playing the best music you can and not trying to copy what you hear on the radio. It's "already been done."

  • @stiemogo -I'm so impressed with your music business pedigree. B.F.D. Been in the music and media business for 2 decades, and you are one of the reasons that the record business sucks today, with your careful market tested music. Never heard of you.

  • @MrDavearama Congratulations. Now you have heard of me. The reason people say that the record business "sucks today" is because time has not had the pleasure of filtering out the memorable music from the "sucky" music. We are all entitled to our own opinion. In my personal opinion, "B.F.D." is a pretty rude statement for someone of your age. Just my opinion. Perhaps in another 20 years, you can look back at "today's" music and have something that you like about this decade.

  • I must say...the odd thing about Julian is that he seems to want to live his father's life exactly....which doesn't work so well, because music evolves with culture. I'm not saying that this music isn't great, but it sounds like music of his dad's time, not ours.

  • @stiemogo Where do you get that idea? He lives a very different life than his father & has many different musical influences. One thing I admire about Jules is that he dares to be different than the mainstream music scene. He writes what he wants to write. If he does sound a little Beatlesque sometimes, it's because they are one of his musical influences. Many bands, etc., have The Beatles as their musical influence but because he's John's son, people criticize him for it. That's just not right.

  • Julian is a hurt and rather mean boy still. He once expressed that those in power did not let him be as big as his dad. ???? No he is just not as good as his father. Check out the VH1 piece in the 1990's if you don't believe.

  • I am so glad Julian is doing so good in his career. He has a super voice.

  • God Bless you Julian! You deserve the world ... your Dad paved the way, but you now have the right to tlay the stones! Just pick up where John left off ,,, you have the talent ... you just have to have the balls to see it through. No excuses ... it's your's for the taking ... just take me along with you!

  • He sings this to his fiancee Lucy Bayliss in the official video. Her dad was arrested for molesting little girls. He tried to deny it but they had him on video rubbing their vaginas and stuff. He went to prison. But anyways, gives new meaning to the line in this song "Daddy's work is never done" ...........................EWWW!!

  • @Userb3st

He actually penetrated with his finger and was rubbing their vaginas?

Maybe he was massaging their pubic region but I doubt he had the vaginal thing going on.

It's funny how people word female genitalia. No one quite knows what to think after they have heard far too many others use the word vagina for the entirety of a woman's genitals. The vagina is the birth canal and is unseen unless in stirrups in a Dr's office, spread eagle at home or making porn.

    People are afraid of pussy.

  • @JDWnSRV But Zak Starkey is a hell of a drummer. He's not Ringo althoughRingo was good. Zak is more like a John Bonham style.

  • @JDWnSRV Julian never tried to be his dad. He's always tried so hard to escape his dad's shadow. His name is John Charles Julian Lennon. If he was really trying to be like his dad, he could go by John Lennon Jr. but he didn't. And that's one reason why he went into photography, the one thing he doesn't have to be compared to his dad to.

  • God Bless you Julian!!

  • @JDWnSRV Still, as I said before, it must be oh so difficult to be the son of an icon. There is no way he could compete with that.

  • Whats Kurt Loder doing in Julians band??

  • Beautiful. I wonder if Julian has any idea how truly talented he is.

  • @SubTMusic the Australians do. His solo stuff did extremely well here with "Saltwater" going to No.1 for 4 weeks in 1992. Unfortunately after that not much else has been heard of him in the music scene here.

  • I think Julian has given up his musical career at present. Yoko FINALLY had to pay him out his dues from his father's Will, so he's a very rich guy now. But who would want to be the son of an icon? Difficult, to say the least.

  • @TheAnn2shoes Julian hasn't given up on music. The CD this is from came out in '99/'00 & the settlement withYoko was in '95. He's not allowed to say how much it was; but he did say it wasn't as much as you'd think. His new CD is complete. Just waiting to find a deal he's happy with, as he doesn't want to sign his life away like he did in the past. Can't really blame him for that. He has a YouTube pg too. "Lucy" was written by friend James Scott Cook & he worked with him to release it for charity

  • He fuckin looks like Steve Perry!

  • looks like arye gross

  • @shithead You are an idiot.

  • @BonelessSausage yes, because I state a completely opinionated and nonthreatening message, and you revert to child name calling. this is why i hate living in my society today. full of un-educated children.

  • Interesting that the lead guitar done on a slide. So Harrisonesque in it's sound and choice of notes.Great stuff.

  • I remember this show, and Letterman wanting the shirt; nice watching with mom tv moment.

  • great tune love 4him and Mccartney 2do something-- Ringo Dahni

  • julian looks more like john than sean

  • haha he's got his dad's nose. And the the shirt is awesome. Wish I could get one

  • I love his Music. Such a "Beatles" touch and sounds so similar to his Dad....it's in the genes. He probably doesn't intend to sound like his Dad....but he does!

  • actually, Julian had to buy back the letters he wrote to his Dad as well...with his very small inheritance. Sad

  • "Lennon and proud of it"

    oh yes-i believe! =D

  • @WoodstockAquarius jajajajajaajaja

  • Julian Lennon; proof that hair loss is from the maternal side.... bummer.

  • Wow wonderful.

  • He has a very Lennon sound don't he?

    Love Julian.

  • These poor kids. They can't win. It could be said they got a pass to the front of the line. Their father earned it for them. Now, their father won't leave. For the rest of their lives people will look for John in their faces, voice and words.

People won't be happy until you put a Beatle wig on these kids and have them singing "Yeah Yeah Yeah"!

  • it's truth... why the people is always cynic with them? (specially Sean)

[being lennon's sons is for them more a ban than a blessing]

they're very talented & yes they look like john in some weird way... but they're great

  • not really. sean is one of the most awfull musicians I've ever heard, and julien is just as generic, boring and talentless as everything else has been since john died, I don't mind julien as a person, his music is just awfull. and as for sean, well he's a douchebag, which is to be expected from someone with such a child hood.

  • @ledZeppelin7680 Yeah, they both just try to hard and it comes across as being pretentious and uninspired.

  • @tyleryesta1 At least not STOLEN from old black musicians of the south like the great Led Zeppelin. How long I wonder did they think they were gonna get away with their thieving?

  • when was this lettterman show done?

  • 1998/1999 That's when "Photograph Smile" was released. :)

  • Julian is far more talented than his younger brother. Sean singing the tune Dead meat on Letterman makes my ears vomit.

  • @Fooblestheclown dead meat is a good song, but yeah, he has a drab sound that is just too humble and monotone. BUT, sean's music has really grown on me. I think dead meat and parachute are well-written numbers

  • I would have more respect for Sean Lennon if he would just spend his father's inheritance and shut up.

  • who asked you, dipshit?

  • Julian Lennon = absolutely class act all the way, and he can rock the house

  • Who wouldn't be proud to be a Lennon? :))

  • There an excellent interview with Julian on youtube, hes on a cruise ship and it goes for about 8 min. He talks candily about his father....he never knew his father really he only saw him a few times and John was quite mean to him. I saugest you check it out for an eye opener.

  • Julian just rules.

  • fuck you paul call julian and dahni and ringo and get some songs done.. fuck the firemen

  • I agree

  • Look at his T-Shirt XD

  • Julian is a lot more talented than his spoiled little brother Sean...Sean can hire as many studio musicians he want's it's not going to change the fact that he's a untalented spoiled little brat. Julian rules.

  • @Fooblestheclown I do n't know if Sean is an adult brat or not but I do know that he did not inherit John's voice or songwriting talent.

  • how old is this?

  • David Letterman was very rude here to Julian. Why did he not give him a few minutes to interview for the public??? Completely stupid and...rude.

  • Actually, almost all of Dave's musical guests just get a quick nod--he wasn't treated any differently than any other musician who closes out the show.

  • Actually, he was very nice to Julian. Evidently you haven't seen David Lettermen -- he's usually just plain nasty.

  • Nothing wrong with a little bit of family pride tho.

  • Not sure why he's proud to be a Lennon??? R U kidding? My God, why wouldn't you be proud to be a Lennon? Regardless of how people viewed John's personal life, he was a musical genius. Founder of The Beatles! If my name was Lennon, I'd be damn proud too. Besides, Julian is a great musician himself. It's clear who got John's talent.

  • Julian is such a good guy. He actually has pain to sing about. On the other hand that brat Sean.. I can't stand his voice! It's so weak and unbearable to hear! That kid never had to fight for anything in his life.

  • Julian actually had to buy a letter that John wrote to him at an auction Yoko put together. He said I was paying for my own letter with the little money Yoko gave him from John's estate. Ed

  • Yoko sounds exactly like my sister. She didn't want to share moms estate with me. She's already very wealthy...and...she has sales and sells me her used clothing. Such greed.

  • @saharra22469 You might want to show the will to an attorney to see if you can contest it.

  • @BonelessSausage yea Yoko is just a loser.

  • Julian has the vocal chops that Sean does not, its true. but based on quotes from Sean that I have read, losing his father was unbearably painful and all the money he will inherit will not make up for it. sean seems remarkably grounded for a person whose own mother ignored him during his formative years.

  • Yeah but who cares about Sean. That kid has always been looked out for despite the loss of his father who Julian also lost as well. Of course Sean is going to be grounded, he's had all the support in the world. The thing that amazes me is how Julian has stayed grounded and sane.

  • I always thought Cynthia was a class act and she raised Julian and did a great job, in my opinion. I had read that Julian and Sean were going to perform together but nothing seems to have come of it.

  • @maryquant1967 john had nothing to do with raising julian,he left that all to the lovely cynthia, she deserves a medal after the way he cheated on her with all the woman, and if the book i read are correct he used to beat her as well, and she still doesn t say a bad word against him,we love you cynthia

  • @maryquant1967 Julian and Sean and Yoko and Cynthia all got together at Julian's new photography showing this October 2010, and Julian forgave them all (Yoko and Sean) for everything at Sean said he always looked up to Julian and Julian inspired him to make music.

  • @maryquant1967 Cynthia and Julian both have had alot of class.

  • @maryquant1967 I hope that doesn´t happen; actually, with all my respect, I´m interested in Julian´s music... not in Sean´s, really. One´s good music, the other, hmmm. No thank you.

  • @anitasseo I agree!!!!!!!

  • i don't get it. why is it that you talk about sean like that. not that i'm defending him. I just dont' know what he did for people to talk about him like that. can you like tell me? sorry if i seem naive man i'm just 18 so i don't really know the lennon history that well. but yes i know John's history.

  • It would have been great to hear John and Julian duet together as that was bound to happen someday.

  • JULIAN YOU AREE GREAT

  • Comment removed

  • What are you smokin'? :-)

  • hey julian,if your ever in niagara falls and need a bassplayer look up sal, meet the wife, have a good dinner and jam.. see you round...

  • There is something erie seeing the Beatles' kids looking like the Beatles so much.

  • julian is a softer version of John, real nice guy

  • I want that shirt.

  • why talk about John,,he is the past Jules is just as talented, and a sweet heart.

  • He so cute, were the same age 46 yrs. old.

  • false.

  • They are John,s mistakes, and Julian's burden to either continue to carry or put it down, his choice, after all life is about choices. John is gone now, his mistakes rest with him, let him sleep, rest in peace.

  • It's a shame for all of your people, including, Lennon fans, are easing John's mistakes.

I think it because he is a celebrity. It's sicking.

  • he isnt married yet??!? its kind of a wonder, aint it? he seems like such an amazing person

  • Julian hasn't found the right woman yet, aye??? Well....just wait till I get my hands on him! :D

  • He looks so much like John...add a pair of glasses like John wore. Wow...he looks more and more like him all the time.

  • i totaly agree with you.,,,he has more talent....definitely

  • Love the shirt he's wearing! I get so sick of hearing about Sean this Sean that! Julian has more talent in his pinky than Sean has in his whole body!

  • You are so right. But don't put down Sean in front of Julian, he'll likely pop you in the nose. He's very protective of his little brother, even with the anger towards his stepmother.

  • My lips are sealed.... ;)

  • Does somebody wat year is this

  • This was on Photograph Smile, which came out in 1998, so I'm guessing 98-99'...........

  • Comment removed

  • i really love all the comments. you all talk like you knew John Lennon personally.

  • Letterman's an @sshole, when Julian tells him about the shirt, he lets the CD drop......douche

  • i still love John no matter what

  • John Lennon was a musical genius but a total jerk when it came to being a husband and father

  • pretty easy to say someone was a total jerk father unless you were in their shoes. Let's see... Cynthia didn't have a problem getting pregnant without being married. John did marry her after that ...FYI. And he was just becoming famous. How great a father would you be if you worked your arse off for 5 years trying to make it... and then suddenly become the most famous musician on the planet at age 23. Yeah... uh huh... you'd be a model father wouldn't you??

  • as a matter of fact, i would be, because to me, being a good husband and father is FAR FAR more important than fame or fortune

  • Stop defending him...

He was verbally and physically abusive, why not be in those shoes.

Its a demeaning experience, even Sean was verbally abused by John. He admitted that once during a fit of rage, John shouted in his ear so loudly that he partially deafened him...imagine that! A six year old child!

Of course John could apparently be gentle at times as well.

John was all over the place, I wonder if he was slightly bi polar.

  • Hm...you know, now that you mention it, John could have been bi-polar. That might explain some things about his off-the-wall personality. Then again, we'll never know. It's too late to conclusively diagnose John Lennon now.

  • Yea I think it fits, a lot of bi polar people tend to be violent or verbally agressive at times

  • I wouldn't forgive a parent for that...its not an excuse it simply isn't. To forget your child exists is the most horrific things you could do to them.

If you cant see that than you're not making any effort to understand the situation. I do think people tend to go a bit overboard, but to say he wasn't a total jerk?

Let's admit the truth here, John was a jerk when he was young. it happens.

  • John Lennon was a very hard person to understand. The only way I can describe him is as a good person who had done some very bad things, and virtually shutting his first son out of his world is one of them. But I can't really judge....

  • I disagree with your comment, totally.

    You are defending John.

Young or old, Beatle or not, John has been a J-E-R-K.

I felt sorry for Julian to consider as his son.

    God bless.

  • Excuse me in what way....

I don't excuse him at all...or defend him for what he did to his son.

I simply understand what that pain is like from experience. Human beings are flawed creatures, we cant fix all of our problems we can only try to understand and move on.

  • nakedBison69: one more thing...

at least he took off 5 years when he had Sean to spend as much time with him as he could. Then what happens? He goes back to music recording and gets shot. (maybe you should re-think your "total jerk" comment)

  • John Lennon was still a total jerk because he openly fooled around with yucky Yoko while still married to sweet Cynthia, and then completely abandoned not only sweet Cynthia, but innocent Julian

  • And he is ashamed of that, he changed as he got older. He wasn't half the man he became when he had Julian . John Lennon was in a process of evolution, and it wasn't until his late 20s that he really understood the world and most importantly himself.

  • John lennon never understood anything, other than his talent in music. He got together with Julian maybe five times in his entire life. he never returned to Cynthia lennon. he posed naked on an album with Yoko, as if to rub salt on Cynthia/Julian Lennon's wounds. the man was a total jerk who happened to know how to write music

  • nakedBison69: you really , really do not know exactly what you are talking about. He had Julian in Scotland summer 69, also summers of 70, 71, 72 in Tittenhurst. Then he went to U.S. and didn't want to leave cause he would not have gotten a green card. What's your deal? You know Cynthia or something? Please...I don't think anyone would say he was Ward Cleaver of Father's for Julian but take it in the context of what happened and what he went through.

  • richardStarkey has no idea what he is talking about. richardStarky loves homewrecker Yoko and hates sweet Cynthia. Ward Cleaver is vastly superior to John Lennon

  • My children's father has seen them a handful of times since their early childhood, I would not give him credit for the times when guilt overwhelmed him over the years he was absent.

  • rangedkid: you know for a fact he was that ashamed do you!!? How about John's own father who abandoned him as an infant. Didn't see him till he was 4-5. Then didn't see him until he was famous! Yeah ... John had a great role model to follow. All of you dissing him about his fatherhood... get a CLUE.

  • John Lennon punished sweet little innocent Julian for the sins of John's father

  • I don't know that he was ashamed, but based on Johns views and preachings, he HAD to feel and understand what he to Julian was wrong. The reason why he didn't try and rebuild his friendship with his first son is because that's just the type of person John was. He hated to be wrong, so to him, forgetting was the best he could do.

  • Julian himself said that he and his father were getting closer in the late 70s. Their reconciliation was ended by John's assassination.

Also, if you're going to discredit John Lennon, then you should mention his savage beatings of Sutcliffe (one of the originals of Hamburg). Take John as he was - an enigma, mixed with extremes, and a genius songwriter.

  • I am not trying to discredit Lennon at all, he is the closest thing to God for me. Besides, that story about beating Sutcliffe is not accepted and there are many different versions to it. The most accepted claim is that he was beaten by thugs and it was Lennon and Best who came to his aid by fighting of the attackers. That story is too misunderstood for us to come to a conclusion.

  • Yea but you have to remember that John was so young...he married his high school sweetheart and had a child at a young age.

John also had a father that left him and mother who died, he didn't exactly have the best role models. To have all of that thrown at him was bound to have a bad effect.

I'm not justifying him, I'm simply trying to understand that situation as best I can. At least Julian seems to have broken the cycle, he doesn't have kids yet and has come to terms with his past.

  • RichieStarkey, you have a lot of really good points. I think everybody's so quick to judge, but we really shouldn't.

In the end, we're all just doing the best we can.

  • He sounds great. Nice to hear from Him again.

  • Yeah, and I let American Idol dictate to me what is good music. Oh my, how did good music ever get made before American Idol.

  • Yep... AND if it weren't for your parents... you couldn't even post anywhere about anything. Have respect... or not.

  • i loved his 80's jams. i didn't even know who john lennon was back then.

  • Idiot, Photograph smile is excellent, it actually did quite well.

And good American Idol is wretched, those people don't write music, they just sing other people's songs.

No Julian wouldn't get a contract for ripping off other artists, he writes his own stuff and its fantastic.

  • what amazes me is just how nice Julian Lennon apparently is. in that way, he has broken the pattern of his father and his father's father. but he still has a long way to go, otherwise he would be happily married by now

  • Indeed, I'll be glad to see him married with kids of his own because that will mean he's finally healed.

  • What is he waiting for? I am sure he has more money than he will ever really need, and certainly has fame and fortune. Besides, he is not getting any younger.

  • He doesn't want to be a bad father? I don't know, perhaps he hasn't found the right woman yet?

I don't think this is an issue that has to do with money or fame, I think it has to do with psychology. He had a great deal of emotional pain he had to deal with.

  • What makes you think he has so much money?

  • He had a longtime girlfriend, Lucy, but they broke up about a year ago, think he mentioned it on his Myspace.

  • Music From Another Room

  • his voice sounds exactly like john!

  • If you really listen, Julian's actually much smoother, and has a much better voice than John. I used to admire John, but once I understood more about the man behind the music, I now feel Julian is really a special person & more admirable.

  • Jules, I love your music!

  • Julian's a wonderful guy... In fact, we went out a few nights ago... It was so romantic and he kissed me on the cheek.

Then my alarm clock went off and well.. time to buy a new alarm clock.

  • LOL! Dang those alarm clocks! They always spoil those great dreams. We wish, don't we? ;)

  • My alarm clock is resting in little pieces on my night stand.

and btw, where's my initial comment?!

  • dude, seriously?? I'm so jealous. :(

  • no wait, sorry. i'm kind of retarted at times. <_<;

  • me, too... especially when I stay up too late & watch too many YouTubers.

    fogetaboutit!

    ; )

  • johns personal life was his and he made great music for us and thats all that should mater, realy could care less who he gave money and if he was a jerk or not what maters is the music that he left for us to lsten to
