I agree with that. However, I was referring to its use in today's society. Sure, it's just another word. However, the people who frequently use it tend to rely on it. This sometimes has repercussions on their conversational and writing skills. Similarly, people who slang text too much tend to rely on it in their conversations. I'm just generalising of course.
