The record now is detained by the JR Marglev who travels at a constant speed of 500 km/h, you will never see a tgv going to those speeds because the train starts to shake and becomes unstable, i like in France the TGV Atlantique, and yeah i sow the old record of 574.8 km/h but if they travel more than 500 km with that speed the train will go off the rails lol!

In proportion to the length of the track for speed, there is no faster than the Shinkansen train. Also the E 5 Shinkansen runs 360 km/h.

I do not count the test session. The Japanese could also drive over 500 km / h - but it is not realistic anyway.

It goes a little slower when it's outside, but it goes full-speed when it goes underground. Overall looking slow is only going way faster than the regular MTA train. I've seen these babies in action when I was in Japan, they are fast.

I rode the TGV a few times (also the double decked one) and its got large windows for a good view, but when it enters a tunnel at 300 km/h it feels like you are in a starting plane (the preasure in the ears), not very nice.

Actually, there was just ONE Bullet Train derailment. It was caused by an Earthquake in 2004/2005.

I saw the photos/videos. It was very moving to see a bullet train off the track.

The BEST thing about that: Passengers & Crew - reportedly - walked away unhurt. Still, The Shinkansen has the BEST Record in the world for 'fewest/no derailments'.

Japan still MUST take pride in what they have accomplished in rail travel: They have the MOST Prestigious Railroad in the world!
