as a barber, i can say that we cut layers up from the bottom xD it gets rid of the blunt steps in the hair/makes the layers gradual. but, as a wig stylist, i still chop the hell out of my wig layers xD

What would you gusy say is the most easy type of cosplay for first timers?

@llBunBunll something not too elaborate. like this, Haruhi (from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) and Konata are fairly easy; Miku Hatsune, Chii, princess peach, are more elaborate and are usually more money due to small details and wig length. its really up to you what you want to do though. hope this helped ^^

There's this girl at my school who wears her Miku wig around (all the time.) She's worn the full cosplay ONCE, and during that time, I was like "OMG, it's MIKUUUU~! 8D" but now that she doesn't wear the full costume, I've realised: her wig was styled very badly... Probably because she kept brushing it like crazy during class. She has such a small face, but now the excess brushing has made it so poofy, she looks like... One of those troll dolls, only with blue hair. Now it's kinda weird.

I just wanted to make a quick comment on how you said that hair stylists cut hair.

I've been to cosmetology school and been a receptionist at a salon for over two years.

They do cut it straight across, but if you want more texture, you'd cut it the way you were describing. So what you were really doing is just thinning the edges.

Layering is a systematic process, with sections and guidelines. What you described was just thinning.

Sorry, I'm being neurotic about this. Haha.
