  • "I teach kick boxing" but I buy baners that say taikwondo

  • it's ridiculous that People think that they could learn this diffcult Kick in a Tutorial Video :D

  • No one can do it better then Andy Hug. RIP

  • How tall are you?

  • isnt the Axe kick from Taekwondo ?

  • do you believe when you fight with someone, axe kick your opponent's chin is a good?

  • Seriously?

Why the hell would you kick your leg up, you're supposed to "lift" it.

That ain't going to knock anyone out.

  • ohhh it will i mean if you do it good im sure you can nock som1 down easily with that kick

i mean the force on your head will be unbearale.

btw im not sure i just think it would

  • taekwondo axe is the best but the kickboxing one is faster

  • @mojomann231 Then you dont do the kick?

  • Now this is f@#$%^& usefull, great video by the way good job man.Keep up the good work

  • Why the heck am I learning Taekowndo for self defense. Imma get my butt kicked if Im wearing a suit, lol

  • @chessloser28 you will hear the sound of the suit ripping when you do this kick hehe

  • @mojomann231 then the kick would hit his balls and gameover

  • lmao keep pressing 6

  • LMAO KEEP PRESSING 4.

  • the best way to also strike an enemy ith the kick is to perform wit correct technique and strike it with speed, kicks like the axe kick and any other fancy looking kick must be performed very fast or it will not be effective and the enemy will either counter r catch your leg!

  • lol press 9 fast

  • he look like the guy in star wars - Master Windu

  • @DrFragge i just thought the same

  • I don't know where this guy is from, but you hardly ever see axe kicks in kickboxing. And when they are, it's only under very specific circumstances, and most of them don't strike well.

Only the rare Newcomer or C class guy who happens to know them and counts on his opponent's defense sucking hard enough to make one or two axe kicks land well.

Unless he's refering to American full contact karate. Exotic and relatively slow/extensive leg techniques are much more common there.

  • @Blahb27 Maybe you should check out some K1 matches with Andy Hug. He uses this kick now and then. The point is not always to knock out your opponent, it is also a smart to throw different kind of kicks, that way you are not as predictable in the ring.

  • I was expecting a deeper voice

  • axe kick can be a very brutal kick i have seen it smash ribs when the opponent was on the ground. foul play, admittedly, but brutal.

  • And what if there like a foot bigger :L

  • @palydran then you lower your enemy to the hight you feel fine with with a broken knee perhaps??? you can do lots of things you dont plan in a fight oh imma do this and that you wait for does moments and its all training from there on

  • mirko cro cop is the best at this move!!!!

  • @lewiskincaid1 i disagree. Andy hug got this kick on lock!!!

  • Hã?

  • god his eyes r big

  • I just can't imagin how to get hit by a kik like this..

I mean yeah its seems to very powerfull and so on

But an opponent who is aware that someone is attacking you and yeah...

    Its a very obvious attack

I hope you see what I mean and don't start hating me xD

I have trained with a friend of mine who is able to doing taekwando and I wanted to fight a bit against him just to see which one is better (I'm doing Ninjutsu) and he tried it 2 or 3 times but it was just to easy to dash :/

  • @MatoKuroii Just look at Andy Hug's videos then...

  • @MatoKuroii Its taught different in different styles. In karate they teach us to swing it on the low side like a creasent or hook kick then raise it and bring it down. its like making a half circle then dropping. this makes it difficult for opponent to see while distracted by your hands and anxiety.

  • @MatoKuroii I wouldn't have thought it'd be something you'd use often. If you overuse it, people are probably going to expect it 0.o I guess you could use it one you've worn them down a bit?

  • @MatoKuroii

well it seems very obvious, but the axe kick comes very unexcepted actually. To show you try searching for Andy Hug, he was one of the best kickboxers in the world and if you see some of his matches you can clearly see that he hits almost 50% of them and when they hit, they sure do alot of damage.

  • WHO WEARS SHORT SHORTS?!?!?!?!?

  • you know bad to use... unless you're andy hug.

  • What he is doing isn't the same as whats being shown inhere: watch?v=_xZVhlmpUXY

This man doesnt bow his leg, like in the link I just added.

  • On the guy's shorts, TopNotch Dutch Record Lable :)

  • Ale ma gały!!!

  • Dont listen to the haters... its a correct and good axe kick.

    Keep up the videos!

  • @redsamuraidragon If you keep your leg staight.. It's going to break if you do a powerfull axe kick to the shoulders..

  • @redsamuraidragon he needs to strech alot more... he is stiff as a stick

  • @morten90 Where are your videos?

  • @redsamuraidragon im not saying im better.

or that i belive in the sport aspect of this art.

im just saying that he needs to strech more.

and yes i can kick myself in the face with a straight leg(with straight back)

and no you wont belive me

  • Imagine as he was attempting the kick in a fight, the other guy ran in and this guy was kicking up, he kicked him in the face and then back down over the head, That would be like an ultimate knockout :P

  • thats cool my real name is Jason Warren to lol

  • i hate ads!

  • Andy Hug made great use of this kick

  • @kzienemmass I practiced this move for months to get good enough to land it, then years to be able to throw it as a spinning axe because I saw Andy do it.

I also fell in love with his back spinning kick to the thigh.

I landed it in one fight and it was game over. The guys leg cramped just dropped from under him.

  • aka a good kick to kill a midget

  • @ShadowAssassin887 :))))))))

  • Would it not break your leg if you kept it fully straight?

  • can you jump while doing an axe kick and is it possible to do a front flip axe kick?

  • @AngelDrive9 You can do a corkscrew axe kick :)

  • 0:24 talks like the gopher from Winnie the pooh

  • u do need to bend your leg aswell, and chamber , not just keep ur leg straight, jheez

  • i wouldn't say that an axe-kick is not applicable in self-defense situations as it's a perfect finisher that will leave your assailant unconscious or maybe even dead if applied correctly. but that's just my opinion as a martial artist.

  • @omegaleonhart Look up Andy Hug (RIP), he used to wreck people with the axe kick. It effective when used appropriately in the proper situation like any martial arts maneuver, in this case it's effective because few people are expecting/prepared for an attack that comes from directly above them. Also for the unfamiliar the first part of the axe kick looks like a missed attempt at a high kick so they may drop their guard and attempt for a counter just as the second half the kick lands on them.

  • @davegong clap clap clap. Folks have no idea. WHen I spar nobody ever see's it coming. Sometimes I dont even know when its gonna do it!! HA!!

    - Shaolin -

  • Dont aim head, aim shoulder for critical hit

  • @AyzieBone if this is is real fighting position he will get sidekicked in the ribs

  • I would add that as you follow through with this kick, you should be stepping forward, not back to your original position. It will help with power.

  • He's right about how it's good for flexibility and conditioning, but I disagree about it not being usable in real situations. Several of my friends and I can perform axe kicks in jeans or slacks easily.

  • Did not show the kick from the front. Only a side view. Did not show the complete kick?

  • You foot would not make it up to the upper body because you'll strike their legs & arms...

    1) YOU NEED TO CHAMBER

    2) YOU NEED TO RISE TO THE INSIDE OF YOUR OPPONENT

    3) YOU SHOULD !!NOT!! FULLY STRAITEN THE LEG

  • @crazzyincombat you can also make a more circular motion (the the left or right) when going up, so your extended leg goes around thy target

  • @crazzyincombat Go on then, show us a video of how much more you know than an instructor. I'd love to see you explain that to him personally as well.

  • @crazzyincombat They should watch kwonkicker. It says taekwondo in the background but its not proper TKD or kyokushin style. This is horrible. And you dont aim at the top of the head. You could but the face and shoulders are more likely to injure your opponent.

  • @crazzyincombat 3) is why you should stretch more often

  • @crazzyincombat haha reason I came cause I had a feeling he woulnd do it right. Bend and snap it down like a whip. we always joke aim it slightly towards his neck for knockout and aim it strait down to destroy shoulder lol

  • @crazzyincombat ok so straighten you're leg

  • @crazzyincombat Actually this kick is taught in many different forms, the axe kick he demonstrates is just the common stretching axe kick which helps with kicks such as the front kick. other forms of this kick are things such as the inner axe kick where you can chamber (but its some dont) fire straight up and bring it down inwards on the shoulder or head, you can also do this outwards or just straight up (my least favourite)

    Love the video!

  • @crazzyincombat you are absolutely right.

  • when performing this kick. like say you kick someone's shoulder with this kick on the way down (i'm guessing you hit with the heel) could it cause pressure your your knee cap, possibly with enough force breaking it?

  • Yep you are right.. he forgets to mention that you must not over straiten the leg and yes you strike with the heel

  • It's actually not meant to hit the shoulder. It's meant to break the collarbone.

  • jason warren is a black guy

  • this guy's eyes... I can't look away from his eyes, it's like he's seeing into my soul.

  • @SecretTechniqueGuy It's called HD.

  • @SecretTechniqueGuy great fighting advantage... eh?

  • @SecretTechniqueGuy hahahaha

  • @SecretTechniqueGuy man you sound's like a b-grade karate movie

  • @SecretTechniqueGuy Yeah, I think he just axe-kicked my soul.

  • hes frikken mass

  • Nice video. Most of the axe kicks I do come from the front leg: from the rear one they are way too easy to avoid or intercept. Also it's important, fundamental, to pivot the foot on which you are standing to allow the corresponding hip to open and allow a much higher kick.

  • Nice video:)
