  • I had to watch it since i loved Requiem for a Dream even tho it fucked my head up when i was 13 :)

  • mickey rourke was amazing in this movie

  • great movie. Bravo Micky

  • i dnt care for wrestling but i loved this film

  • loved this movie

  • This is one of the best, if not the best movies ever made, i dont cry in movies but there was just something about this one that got me.

  • I love his finisher and as a matter of fact when i get the dough im gonna get the movie and i wanna join wrestler and in honor of the ram ill do his finisher (But not the real thing cause that would be copyrighting)

  • loved this movie, one of the best rourkes role

  • Well, what do ya know ... an intelligent review that hits on the essential issues of the film, not just reiterrating the plot points - and manages to get that in in just over 3 min (not an easy task). Too many reviews are done by insensitive morons who don't appreciate the hard work that goes into producing a film - they just like to give a thumbs up or down like some petty, overfed tyrant. I give this review 5 stars.

  • i am about 2 watch this movie. i will comment on how i thought it was when it is over. hehe. I hope its good.

  • I gave this film an 8/10 on imdb

  • This was an outstanding and remarkable movie, glad Mickey Rourke's finally got his hollywood status, just think a few years ago that happened to robert downey Jr.,I just tho. him and marisa tomei were gonna win their oscars,oh well hopefully next time,10/10,It was a really good movie and very emotional to the heart,if it was like Mickey was a real wretler going through tremondous pain, who was struggling to be at the tops,i really felt sorry n happy at the same time for him.

  • Great movie and great review especially at the end

  • this was one of the best movies i have ever seen before

  • You nailed it dude! excellent review. One of the best films of 2008. period.

  • I watched this film for the first time today and it has to be one of the best films i have seen all year. best work from the director and mickey.

I heard that Iran has banned the film too because of feeling similar to the guy below this comment.

some how it seems you havent understood whats going on.

  • 10/10, good movie.

Plus it had R-Truth in it, which was cuul.

  • i watched this movie once,

frankly i found it quite boring. i mean the acting was great and all, but the movie just didnt have any goal for me or somethign to cheer for at the end.

maybe i just wasnt in the right mood for a movie like this. going to rewatch it soon.

  • Pro Wrestling, The Greatest Sport/Entertainment. Period.

  • youre a moron whom obviously loves modern horror movies and crappy action movies which have nothing but massive budgets and special effects

  • say that to me?....my favorite move is the original of the dead movies?

  • okay, so you arent a fool who is obsessed with crappy uncreative movies with too many special effects, you obviously have some good taste in movies, seeing as dawn of the dead (original obviously) is one of the best horror movies ever, and easily the best zombie flick, so why did you think this movie sucked? the only thing i can think of is maybe you only liked action packed movies and you dont appreciate brilliant storylines and directing

  • i just think i went to se a wrestling movie, and that made me dissapointed, and the shaky camera was something from like Quarantine or Diary of the Dead...the acting was great, that i may agree to......

  • well this movie obviously wasn't a documentary on wrestling, and it wasnt a comedy like ready to rumble, it was about a guy who goes through a very crazy stage in his life, if you thought it was about WRESTLING you were pretty stupid, i mean sure its about wrestling but not in the sense you thought you know?

  • 303 that guy i think is r-truth

  • simply amazing im not a huge fan of wrestleing uste to be but i still would love to see this movie

  • Great review. I agree 100% best movie of 2008. Even though you might not watching it over and over.

  • Not really...

  • I have yet to see this movie, but I have read the screenplay, and from what I read it is a extremely well written movie about life, aging, and ultimaltey decisicons of our life.

  • "I don't know how you can fake cutting yourself with a blade, jumping off ladders, smashing eachother with glass, spraying bug spray in eachother's eyes..." No wrestlers are cutting themselves with blades when they do this stuff, they're trained to jump off ladders in the same way that stuntmen are trained, as for glass smashing and bug spray its that it's neither real glass nor real bug spray.

  • I guess you haven't seen the movie, and yes, as a old wrestling fan myself, wrestlers actually cut themselves to make themselves bleed for visual effect.

  • Im a wrestler, and we do use blades.

  • i want to get into pro wrestling but i dont know how or where or the age

  • Just find a school, and join. (the earliest age in 16 i think)

  • just search your local area for indie circuits, the lowest age is usually 14. it hurts alot tho so you have to be mentally and physically prepared

  • Yes, they do cut themselves, and do it in a way that they do not scar themselves. Search this video on YouTube:

(Exposed!) The secret behind the blood in pro wrestling!!!

Then after that, look at all the related videos. I wouldn't have said it in the review if it wasn't true. The damn movie shows it too, to display to the audience how it's done.

  • BTW, you cant fake any of that stuff. It hurts a lot.

  • Professional Wrestling has been exposed in every conceivable way so i find it quite pathetic & ignorant that in the year 2009/2010 people still just pass it off as fake. Its not that hard to find out the fact from fiction with the wide selection of resources we have today.

Wrestlers do cut themselves, the blood is real, the ring is not soft & the bumps do hurt, real things happen in wrestling all the time.

  • @135789 you are not a wrestling fan, do you still think its real? :P but yes when they bleed they do something called blading, they have a small razor and cut their eyebrow very slightly and then it bleeds enough plus the sweat give the illusion that they are gushing with blood

  • @135789 oh great the old "oh they know how to fall thing" gimme a break why dont you actually watch a wrestling match

  • Excellent performance in a film -minus hyped

efx, big budget, cast of stars.Every man will

face decline in either health or income one day,

so anyone can relate, especially if you're past 50-60. He has my vote.

  • I thought it was an awesome movie tbh..

  • i love these sort of movies!!!i've never heard of this movie but i'm sure gonna watch it now!!!(^-^)

  • pause at 1:29 u see real time wrestler ron killings/r-truth oh and by the way AG u need to see BEHIND ENEMY LINES COLOMBIA and review it

  • didnt think it was a spoiler. i think you reviewed it just fine, i actually wanna see it.. damn dude

  • was that r-truth at 1:29

  • ya man it was wasup!

  • i liked your review but i think u gave away too much about the movie.

  • Actually I didn't, a movie doesn't really start until around the first plot point, which throws the main character in a world different from what he's used to. In this case, he has a heart attack and has to deal with not wrestling, and deals with problems. I didn't go into anything specific, especially about the daughter, which was the backbone of the movie.

  • i want to see it but none of my local movie theatres are currently showing it

  • The seems great, I hope I can see it sometime soon.

  • Looks like i got myself a Netfliix Pic this week.. Thanks man.

  • Well, the movie is still in theaters, so you won't find it on netflix.

  • this movie comes out in cinema's for us on Friday.. i cant wait for it.. im gonna see it on opening day

  • you should totally do a bashing of yes man lol.

  • fatality

  • It is a very good picture from what I hear, on all dimensions (I love the gritty documentary feel of the film, especially, not to mention Rourke's powerful performance), and it deserves the accolades it has been getting - I'm still waiting to see it in my town.

  • I appreciate the enlightenment. I will order this next on Amazon.

  • It's in the theaters Kyoslicer, limited release. Mickey Rourke just won Best Actor at the Golden Globes for his role this past weekend, and will surely be nominated for best actor at the Oscars.

It most likely will get a larger release when Mickey is nominated for Best Actor.

  • Oh Whoops. Sorry I guess I should have looked at the description. for some reason in my mind I was thinking it was an older film. Still it looks like a great movie.

  • this movie is awesome i love it great review

  • Awesome review AG, you really got me intrested about the movie. I love wrestling (even though it's scripted) and I hope I can find this in my local DVD store.

  • Really can't wait to see this movie.

  • Amen brother I actually love wrestling, and I can't wait to see this movie.

  • JBL/HBK thing

  • I am very excited to see this movie. Seeing that I am a former promoter, I can really relate to this story in major ways. I just can't wait to see it.

  • This movie has all the elements that a performer went through during the territory era. Rough living, aching body, strip clubs, and so forth. I haven't seen the movie, but if it had any references towards drugs, then it'd hit the nail on the head.

From the reviews I've seen, it seems as though The Wrestler is about Wrestling as Rocky was about Boxing.

It's a shame how Vince hated the movie, then again, he hates everything that isn't his.

  • Looks pretty good

  • oh my god i have to go see it whats it rated

  • -]. ahhh, so ya movie messenger now .[-

  • Movie is awesome. I saw it and loved every moment of it.

  • Awesome review. It's interesting to see what these guys go through and that's what makes the movie work.

  • Rourke looks like Jerry Lynn in this movie. Enjoyed the review man. I think it's kinda sad how WWE is parodying this though with the JBL/HBK thing.

  • Lol, a strip club? I don't think I'll be able to see this movie, heh.

  • U SURE ABOUT DAT?!?!

  • nice i migth go and see it keep it up

  • whole i mean

  • This movie looks so good.

  • nice, i like the hole movie messenger idea keep it up
