@SesameCubing unfortunately the only way to get sound is through the Composite connection. Running sound through compatible speakers. The monitor lacks USB or 1/4" RCA jack for audio

@zgator55 no this is a 60Hz monitor - I made this video in 2007. There were no 120Hz at that time.

Nice review. It would've been nice if you showed angle viewing. I watch tv in my pc but am not in front of my monitor as I watch.

@saloei this monitor (as old as it is 2007) is still solid. Off center viewing angle is as good as LCD monitors I own. If there's a downside, its the glossy screen which enhances color but adds glare.

Unfortunately no. You'll need a PC with Audio In. I used the 360 component connector to do this.

XBox 360 looks great, but you will need external speakers for sound. I use my PC audio input for that.

wait a min.Can you use this monitor for ps3 (hdmi) AND have the audio??

@atproductions10 Only works with RGB+Audio cables - If you are using the monitor with PC that has Audio In, you'll have sound. If you are using HDMI, it will be without sound unfortunately. You would need the Speaker Bar sold separately and I don't know of anyone that carries it these days.

You're asking for a lot of things for a very limited amount of money. There may be monitors out there that will handle what you're asking for, however, I'd truely suggest saving about $100-$200 more. Then you're in the price range of a lot of good quality monitors that will be able to handle your PS3 gaming needs. Do you do any PC gaming? If not, you may just want to look at an actual TV. 1080p TV's are usually more expensive but it could be the solution you're looking for.

Will a dvi cable work with a dvi-d port on monitor? i'm getting a 9800gtx video card which only has two dvi ports, but it just says plain dvi, not dvi-d, but the monitor says dvi-d. will it work?

my eztube software does not work. isnt it supposed to detect automatically when u rotate the monitor to portrait? and the only thing i can do with eztune is get to the screen where it says update or whatever but i did update it.

i bought the hd2200 and its very good, I'm from Colombia, lol. But i haven't purchased a dvi and hdmi cable yet. Why do you set the video card config. gamma to 63% or 67%? tell me your monitor config: bright, contrast and gamma you set from the menu of it. Yeah, nice video

These are my settings. Keep in mind my settings are best for the room lighting I'm in but here you go. I have edited my settings on both of my Gateways.

Monitor Settings

Brightness 20

Contrast 42

nVidia Card Settings

(All Channels)

Brightness +32

Contrast +10

Gamma +50

These settings are very close to matching my output from Viewsonic CRTs. Hope that helps.

This review answered a few questions for me. I'm very interested in this monitor now but have you noticed ghosting while gaming on console? In another review you see it especially while reloading in COD4 on xbox 360. I'll be buying this monitor specifically for console gaming.

It took allot for me to switch to an LCD for Editing and Gameing. Ghosting may be relative to the resolution you play at and so far for me has been minimal. CRT's are still best, but this monitors features and price - I have no regrets. It supports 1080p (HDMI) and 720p (Component). Only issue with HDMI is that the monitor needs a Speaker add on ($50). I'm going to do another video detailing some other features as well as color and menu settings.

Any backlight bleeding issues? Several owners are reporting sever backlight bleeding issues saying it gets worst over time. Any experiences of this?

As for light bleed, its there and each LCD will exhibit varying amounts. Admittedly I am still partial to CRTs for this reason. I bought mine from Best Buy in case I needed to return them for any gross defect.

With that said I have two of these Gateway LCDs and can say that the light bleed is the same as the day I bought them. Being able to adjust the vertcal/horizontal tilt is ideal to keeping the screen centered giving me even lighting in editing or gaming.

Seeing that im not located in america...it wont be that easy for me. Thats why every bit of information i get is helpful to me. Wont be easy for me to purchace a monitor and return it. Ill be ordering online and crossing my fingers that i dont ever have to return it. Im loving the features of this monitor.. i just dont wanna be stuck with a dud.

I feel for you. I wouldn't buy an LCD online as I always read about issues with them. Dead pixels or other quality issues. It's hard to find a good online company that will accepts returns. Even Newegg has changed their policies. I would only buy this monitor from a local store with a good return policy.

Definitely the best LCD I've purchased to date. This comes from someone who really values CRTs. I'm planning on doing a specific point to point video as I wasn't able to get as many details as I would like in the first video.
