Yeah,we used to drive my blue VW to manhatten(village) to cop some weed and mesc and we heard this 8 track all day! His solo is my favorite guitar lead of all time. You heard it here first!
Don't get me started on the remnants of Hard Core Ecstasy sessions I've been asked, might I say honoured, (little tear in the eye 'n all that!) to plant the FSB (First Scavenger Beak, as we call it in the trade) in, on, hey, hi!....I've lost me thread Melvin...? ..go again from..??..Scavenger beak.??..alright ahem,...here we go...
i cant say i have a favourite zappa tune i love them all (as only a zappa fan can) but its close to my favourite. the guitar solo speaks out to me in a special way. i know every note of it but im not good enough to play it :/
bongo fury was actually zappas last non-commercial style album, then he took on a style more commercially appealing to mainstream listeners, zoot allures, sheik yer bouti.etc.
I preferred his mid 70's style over any other after 1979.but I'm also a george duke fan!
the 5 albums out in the time it took me to get this frosty beverage was a good one.i love it yet it is kinda true he made so much stuff we haven't even heard yet.he's still cranking them out and he's dead
Zappa = By far the most underrated electric guitarist/musician that I am aware of...if you can learn to accept the trumpets and theramins and weird time signatures and all the other non-Western music pop-instruments and techniques makes it a lot easier to appreciate
By ten o'clock her arms and legs were rendered.
She couldn't talk 'cause her mouth had been extendered.
Looked to me as though she had been blendered . . .
absolutely epic ! "bongo fury" is a great album...but how the hell to try a logical ranking of zappas albums? beefheart on this album was a real stage beast !zappa forever!
this lead coming from another set? I think not.if that's the case ,what was played live in that spot??frank would never just have a backup rhythm patch with no soloing.
Oh you are not kidding about that solo! This is one of my favorite rock guitar solos, period. The set-up, with Ike's little "well...", the structure that the song builds it to...plus the first few seconds of the solo, that little riff, is for sure my favorite *start* of any rock guitar solo. Just excellent.
Haha luchozepp! When it comes to Zappa songs, you'll learn this quick, you have to tab your own stuff. As for the song... Complete Zappa work. Great stuff.
I wish i could play an instrument. I am loser that eats yellow snow. I'd pratice in Joe's garage but it hurts when I pee. I just stay at home and collect babysnakes and call jewish princesses at home. yowza yowza yowza My name is Andy btw and I am on the sofa eating a muffin. Get it??? lol
great song. watch out, Charleston pimps everywhere. dated seventies sound compared to the crisper '84 band's version with computers and other dull stuff. Zappa and Beefheart, nature's answer to Donny and Marie, never mind Hillary and Bill, never mind......oh make the rest up yerselves!

Have to say I agree - Love tons of, but not all Zappa - but the guitar solo in this one gets me all emotional and shit.

I have like 20 of his albums now, only like 75 more in the full set...maybe 80, he probably put out 5 in the time it took to get this frosty beverage

Ursuppenspasmo, I agree w. you! The guitar
solo is a MUST(is it a ZAPPA editing, coming
from another set? I don't care...).
The drumming is great, the bass(yet so "easy")
is great. No Pastorius needed here.
So LIVE. The youngsters should improve their
playing, instead of making those anemic sounds (they are afraid to look too "pop" or "rock".

1) it's Napoleon (Murphy Brock, not the French 'emperor')'s "well"
2) you're not getting out enough
3) I'm not getting out enough, either
4) one of Zappa and his employees' finest
5) there is no 5
britneypeas 3 years ago
1) Thank you. Should have known that. Now do.
2) That is *correct*.
3) I feel ya.
4) This is no. 5.
