@kaidos123 It was situational irony. From wiki :D "describes a discrepancy between the expected result and actual results when enlivened by perverse appropriateness." Basically what you would expect is opposite the results.

So, when my opponent used Surf it would be expected to do a lot to my Fire Type Pokemon and little to his Floatzel. However, Surf did little to my Fire Pokemon and ended up KOing his Floatzel.

@thegreymon95 No, you can't transfer from G/S/C to R/S/E. I got Typhlosion from Pokemon Colosseum and Entei from my Leaf Green.

If you play through Emerald you can get a Cyndaquil at the start of the Battle Frontier story arc. If you play through Fire Red or Leaf Green and you choose Bulbasaur as your starter, you can get an Entei during the Sevii Islands arc.

@beanio12 actually, you only get a johto starter from Prof. Birch if you complete the hoenn pokedex. Which means you have to see and own all 200 pokemon, and that's hard to do with only one gba game alone, i've tried.

@jorgydo I transferred my old Charmander that I cloned a bunch of times in my Emerald to my Pearl via Pal Park. To get Charizard black you have to hatch it Shiny and the chances of that happening 1/8192 or a 0.01220703125% chance.

@ssjgotenks2009 he either a) got lucky and got a shiny charmander on his first try in the game, b) traded for a shiny charmander, charmeleon, or charizard, c) reset the game enough times to get a shiny charmander, or d) is a H4XOR AND GOT HIS SHINY POKEMON BY CHEATING (a bit doubtful in my opinion. Many people here seem to have shiny pokemon)

They did that to limit the power of the move a bit because otherwise it would be really overused and very powerful (special water with high base power, high PP and hits both opponents in doubles). Its still a great move even with that drawback.

First off, Snorlax's Surf is pitiful it has a low Sp.Attack and it is non STAB. Also when the Sun is out it removes the Fire types weakness to water making water attacks only do neutral damage.

Believe me there are not many Pokemon that can outrun Charizard and Entei while causing STAB Super Effective damage. And anyways I use Mono Type teams for style not a competitive advantage.
