I love kuhlis, but they hate me. I had ten of them in my 29 gallon community tank. I didn't see them for an entire year. After a couple months, I figured they died and got eaten somehow, and replaced them with corydoras.
Just last month I was tearing down the tank after moving its inhabitants to a new 55 gallon tank, and when I started scooping gravel out, low and behold I found all ten loaches alive and happy.
Its some sort of groundcover I bought from Aquadise on Ebay. It spreads out tendrils under the gravel and then sprouts up again a lil ways away. It makes a carpet over time :D
