well.... the military sent the the 42nd infantry division, tanks and they blanketed the thing with rockets. then they use a B-2 spirit bomber to carpet bomb the thing yet it's still alive. then after they intiate the hammer down protocol and drop a nuke on it. theypeople say it's still alive. so what do the military think is gonna kill it? i mean they a used a f**king nuke. and it still lives. i'd just shove a frag into it's throat and kill from the inside. :P if i don't get eaten first.

(SPOILER ALEART) in the movie you see a figure fall from the sky into the water... that was a satelite.... the actual monster had been under the water for thousands and thousands of years.... so yes it came as a baby..... helpless and confused... but then it dident know what to do.... so it stayed for thousands of years... the satelite is what woke it up..... but it was still cunfused witch is why it attacked....

@FearMyLvl NO there is no use of nuke in hammer protocol. Take a look at the ending, there are explosion, fireball coming out and people screaming for help. If it is nuke, everything will be vanished in a second after the detonation and no time for them to scream. (if it's a nuke, the take won't be recover. The camera will just be vaporized in ground zero) Hammer protocol is just conventional cruise missiles strike as I believe.

According to the commentary, the "It's still alive" line is a bit of a reference to the fact that when the Cloverfield trailer was being recorded, the director did one of the voices that says "I saw it! its huge! Its alive!". People thought he said "its a lion!", spawning a lot of Voltron-based guessing from people. This line doesn't mean "the monster is still alive", but "that line in which people thought was about a lion? It's still ALIVE."

At best my guess its a subliminal message of sorts. Saying the reverse of 'help us' normally does not get the 'its still alive' message of course. but depending on how you say it, and what funky stuff they do to the audio clip to make it appear this way of reversed...

My thoughts, even tho I admit it's a bit cliche... would be to follow one squad of soldiers. Just use the helmet cams. Maybe switch between 2, at most 3 soldiers. Wouldn't want it to be too confusing.

And in that circumstance you could still see the original characters, but from the soldier's perspective.

I quite enjoy the chaos and ill knowledge the first one has, its not a monster film more than it is a survival film imo, I think that doing the first movie in any other way would have just put it into another "Monster movie" category. The way they did it was perfect and i hope JJ doesnt give in to all the little kids with their " I WANNA KNOW WHERE THE MONSTERS FROM HOW IT WAS MADE ITS FIRST AND LAST NAME AND ITS BLOOD TYPE" because then it wont be nearly as intense.
