dangerous... and doing this you discharge your battery below 3 volts and it "dies". This happens to lithium batteries. Solution: buy an extra battery or a car lighter charger.

You're right... this is pretty risky.

You could stick in down the front of your trousers for 10 minutes. That should warm it enough to give a bit of extra power. Just don't heat it with a lighter first or you could blow you nads off.

I used to warm my hands like that playing rugby and hockey in the winter.

Everyone knows the best way to make a short call on a mobile phone with a flat battery is to put the whole mobile phone in a microwave oven at full power for about 50 seconds. This will recharge the battery enough for one short call. Works like a treat every time.

A much safer alternative is to just place the phone or battery in your front pocket for several minutes. The body heat from your leg will warm the battery up safely. This works especially in cold weather. If you need a warmer spot use your arm pits.
