It's a great song about a significant event in American and World history. I remember the time well. It received a fair amount of air time for a while before the politically correct crowd forced it off the airwaves. Taking US citizens, from the Embassy is not a direct attack? Or, maybe you have not heard of that? Maybe I'm mistaken. The government certainly wasn't cooperative, but it did not attack us with military force nor did it attack any part of the 50 states (embassies are only sovereign territories).

I was saying that 1. it was a group of students who attacked the embassy (no not Iranian commandos) so "they" didn't actually attack us, 2. they didn't attack the "homeland" anyway, so it isn't quite as shocking since it is in a well known anti-US country, and 3. A country's Embassy is, indeed, considered soverign soil.  The American Embassy was, by international law, American soil. Anyone who believes that was a spontaneous uprising by "students" with no Iranian Government involvement/incitement, clearly is not knowledgeable of either the times OR the event.
