It's my favourite song of TD....It's a pure industrial music just like early Neubauten...First time I've seen and heard them in 84 in Polish TV-I was shocked-what a sound and strange lookin' band. They've played on footbal stadium and my big brother said-"Look at them! They are playing on metal dustbins!!!".That's why I'm still a big fan of TD....
amazing band indeed! this track and "fist" from the unacceptable face of freedom were the ones that inspired me to appreciate old school industrial! :)
Einsturzende Neubaumten are just as good as those guys, some songs are even better. This guys always have to put this stupid electro 80's snare drum on everything. It ruins the song in a big %number
Test Dept you are not in vain. My daughter's elementary school have inherited the good sense to incorporate the likes of similar in their concerts. If there is a god bless you for your beautiful efforts. I've fond memories of you.
It's funny how stuff like this would be in the mainstream from time to time. We need a new MTV that plays shit like this all the time. I mean Youtube is great, but we need to force in peoples faces. Maybe one day.
Great band, perhaps even the best. Unfortunately they are no longer active, but take a look at the Belgian industrial percussion band Militia and find a great band as well and... still active !!!
I remember seeing Test Dept. at the now long gone I-Beam on Haight Street here in San Francisco, CA around 1984. I've been hooked ever since! Great video - much thanks!
I have this on VHS somewhere...managed to "find" test dept. in Riverside, CA aka Shithole USA mid-late 80s...later output too techno for my taste but the early stuff was head and shoulders above the crowd.
It wasn't difficult, all you had to do was find out where the independent record stores were at in the big cities, and they might order it for you if they could find the record company, MTV actually played this several times during prime time, just to freak out the jocks who listened to Poison. That was when MTV was daring instead the crap they have now.
This is extremely difficult to find! I saw this video yrs. ago and have searched in vain for the single or even an album that contains this song but no luck! anybody know of its availability in this day and age?
Some of their videos were almost sexy. There's something about these testosterone fueled hard working-semi naked and sweaty bodies..and that urban, tribal rythm...Shame about one of their 1980's performance abroad:it got interrupted by skinheads setting the venue(a factory)on fire. No one reacted at first, we thought the flames were part of the act!
I had the extreme pleasure of seeing them in '97..and it is still one of the top 3 best live shows I have ever seen in my 36 years. The energy, the passion of what they were doing, the extreme focus. They did industrial the right way.
8 people really enjoy faderhead
