  • I'm 15& I love this song :D

    who gives a shyt

  • I love her flip hairdo

  • the katie perry of the 60's! :)

  • This really brings back memories of "64"

  • my record player sped up music too. this is a lil fast, but it still sounds good.

  • And yes, This WAS Produced by the one and only Quincy Jones..most know him by Michael Jackson's "Thriller" fame as well as

M Jackson's "Bad"..but Quincy Jones was a Producer from the 1960's..and a Footnote: as much as I love the Mix's on Both Mono AND Stereo Versions, I STILL feel that the hand-clap track on both versions is a bit too loud..LOL I would have mixed the hand-claps a bit lower on both Versions..LOL..but thats just me..Sorry Quincy, and you know how much i love your work!!!

  • Ok..OK..hope this helps you all... :-) they were Exactly TWO Versions of this song..This being the 45rpm MONO mix, meant to be played on AM Stations which were dominant at this time in the 1960's..the Second version is the 33RPM LP Stereo version..WHICH IS The Original Correct Speed that "Maybe I Know" was recorded at---This WAS a Practice the Record Company's did to ALOT of Singles for a LONG Time..You Should LISTEN to Any Beatle's Single ( 45rpm) Versions and compare them to the 33rpm Version.

  • This is really ahead of it's time!

  • I'm kinda a redneck/bubba guy born in 67 (3 years before this song), yes I listen to some country (and have listened to heavy metal in the early 80s). But Lesley has been MY ALL TIME FAVORITE since the mid 80s, along with many of her songs like this--it's the 3rd one of hers I heard.

  • As for those mentioning speed, I timed it from start to finish compared to other copies on ytube along with my own copy from the 'it's my party" 5 disc set--(from original sources). This is exactly a whopping 7% faster. My copy and the others on ytube are the same time, and the slowest I've heard. I have no way of knowing if the 45 was faster than the 33 since I don't own a 45, plus they sped records up on the radio, and there was discrepancy from one turn table to another-----------

  • ------continued-----But I'm certain mine is the unmodified original (not sped up) 33 because it's the slowest. Mine is also the speed I've heard 1000s of times over the radio in the digital/cd age since the late 80s which I'm convinced is the original unmodified speed, but back in the turn table age when they modified speed from original setting, who knows?

  • CORRECTION: ''''born in 67 3 years before this song'''' I meant to say I was born 3 years AFTER this song in 67, and I was late in the year like this song was late in it's 64 year.

  • I know this song i should of been born in the 40 i love old time music nothing like todays

  • the timbre of her voice is instantly recognizable--one sign of great singer

  • I maybe 13 but I love her!!|She's awesome I think it's funny how I mention her and no one knows who she is!

  • My daughter who is now 23 loved this song when she was just 6 years old because I would only listen to the oldies stations in the car before she knew she could change the stations. All of my girls and my grandkids still love the oldies thanks to me. It's nice to know that they know where their music origined from. Thumbs up from any other baby boomers that shared this music with their kids!!!

  • @TheMustangsally75 Being one of the children who was brough up by baby boomer parents in the 80's and listened to oldies such as this at home, I thank you :)

  • I believe this is a tad faster than the radio speed, but that was the case in all 45's I believe that one heard from am stations. I recall many a time, when I'd bring home the 45 I had just purchased and wondered why it was faster that the way I heard it on the radio. I'll give the radio stations the benefit of the doubt and say, THEIR turntables were revolving at the correct 45RPM, and our inexpensive record players we purchased were maybe playing at 55 or 60 revolutions per minute.

  • don't worry people the 60's will never die!!!!

  • I've just found that and i like that! There is also a cover of this by Alessi's Ark.

  • music from the 50's & 60 the best ever!!!

  • For some reason, many turntables built in the late 60's were not belt-driven, and often ran faster than they should have. This is playing too fast, but it's nice to hear the mono version in it's original sound.

  • i'm simply in love with this song <3

it's one of this songs that's making you wondering about what you've been through and it seems like i'm in the same situation as Lesley but 'what can I do'?

  • i was listening to this in the car with my dad on the way home (: Good song

  • Little did we know Lesley was actually thinking "she's been a cheating" as she made her way around the Sarah Lawrence campus.

  • I have a great L.P. of hers.

  • Love the over dubbed harmony.

  • great song ,but needs to be updated maybe by coleen nolan

  • Think this is a Jeff Barry , Ellie Greenwich composition..I believe....wish folks who post these tunes give credit to the writers and not just the singer......great tune...Quincy Jones Producer?..thanks in advance

  • @Tunz909 - You're right, Ellie Greenwich and Jeff Barry wrote this song. And yes, Quincy Jones was Lesley's producer.

  • @VinylNostalgia What u rsaying is that Ellie Greenwich is Elizabeth Quinn? You Tube was part and parcel of a studio...rite? Elizabeth Quinn was into all of the studios. I think the hat hung mostly between Universal Studios (that she never sold) & Goldie Hawn Productions rite? Vox blogging went through Fox...female owner with papers. What does Quincy Jones say? Most of the tunes of the big names r not placed on You Tube by individual owners...most go thru a studio for copyright protection

  • Yeah, this is just a WEE bit too fast. Even makes her voice sound a bit chipmunky. Great song though....

  • casinowild yes onther great one

  • a minor masterpiece

  • Loved this from the first time that I heard it.

  • Loved this from the first time that I heard it.

  • Loved it since the first time that I heard it.

  • Loved it since the first time that I heard it.

  • great tune

  • love this song...

  • Typical girl talk love song.Bubble gum 1960s pop at its finest.

  • My favorite LG song. Love the way it swings back and forth from minor to major.

  • I agree with PobolycwmKnights, because that's ne.

  • Great song!!!!!

  • when i hear this tune, i think of poor jackie kennedy, and how john had his brief affair with marilyn. what a tramp she was.

  • "Maybe I know that he's been untrue, but what can I do?"

    Awesome tune. <3

  • @PobolycwmKnights this is a good tuned song (: <3

  • Maybe I know? I KNOW!!

  • One of my favorites by Leslie Gore. FYI this was the first artist that Quincy Jones produced.

  • This was the first POP artist Quincy Jones produced. Prior to working with Lesley, Quincy had been producing JAZZ music/artists at Mercury Records.

  • Thanks for the "rest of the story"

  • Fab.

  • That was the way it sounded when it was released; this is not too fast. I loved Lesley Gore then and now. My wife knows what a crush (did I date myself with that word?) I had on her. She was just the best then and still is.

  • people still get crushes.

  • This is way too fast.... it is like the recording is going at 65rpm. That may be why it doesn't sound right to some of you. It is actually the REAL single from 1964, but the turntable this is playing on is very fast!

    A WONDERFUL SONG!

  • I was a teenager when this song came out and it has always sounded like that. It's not speeded up at all.

  • haha, take the 45 and play it on another turntable, or take the LP version from either the original "Girl Talk" or "Golden Hits" or from the more recent compilations.... OR listen to the record played by other people on YouTube. The speed-up is pretty dramatic. On top of that, remember that Quincy would speed the singles up a little before ever releasing them.... thanks for posting this great song!!!!!!!!

  • The original recording of Maybe I know is on Lesley's album, Girl Talk. It is the slower version. For release as a single, Quincy "double tracked" and speeded it up a bit.

  • Sorry guys, but I made an error when I posted the information about Maybe I Know. Girl Talk featured the original single version of this song. I was thinking about the two versions of Look of Love when I made the post. Sorry.

  • yep.

  • @VinylNostalgia *sped

  • @beautifulswan Sounds a tad quick to my ears too...I remember our AM stations back then used to speed up the 45s a bit - I think they were trying to squeeze more sides into a broadcast...

  • Maybe I Know was actually released July 1964, from Lesley's Girl Talk album, released September 1964.

  • Words of Wisdom... Good music of any genre never really ages. It just was recorded in that particular year.

  • The quality is great. I love the sound of the needle on the 45. Thanks for posting this! Good song.

  • To anyone who cares: to me it sounds like she says "Baby, I Know". Thank You.

  • I heard this song yesterday. That doesn't sound like her just so everybody knows. Thank You.

  • Happy belated birthday!Lesely!good song!

  • thanks a lot for posing this.....Good song by lesley!

  • i have record good number isnt it?

    coment is easy please.

  • This goes in my category of Hate the meaning of the lyrics but love the song. I could tell her what to do! *LOL* thanks

  • Ahhhhh, pre women's lib. LOL This is lyrics from back in the (He's a jerk and treats me like crap but I love him anyway) days. A lot of Carole King/ Gerry Goffin lyrics are in this category.

  • @VinylNostalgia Oh, yeah! Well said (SMILE)
