  • HOLY CRAP!!!

I thought a girl sang this song! A white girl!

    But instead. a boy!!!!!!!! Holy!!!!!

  • @StarRoxable Lol, me too. Then I realised it is infact a woman. Corinne Bailey Raem, it says under the like-dislike section.

  • @nasjax8888 Mine too...

  • How did I miss this for so long? I love this song, and I love Miller. I never knew the two came together til today!

  • exelente

  • Simply Incredible Marcus. Please continue for all the right reasons!!!

  • Smooth version.... Hear the bass talking !!!!!!!

  • Sorry, but Marcus is the MAN, and has been since the 70's. Yes, we all bow down to Jaco and Larry, the innovators. But Marcus has the absolute KILLER groove, with a minimum of notes, and the BEST slap tone EVER. Some of these other guys over play, never change their strings, and don't get it done. And Stanley has been out of tune how many times. Marcus may be one of the most recorded bass players in history. Gonna go see him on the 31st at the Hollywood Bowl. My favorite for over 35 years.

  • Thanks for sharing

  • who is the singer??

    butt still marcus miller RULES

  • @rony509 Well .. that is a stupid thing to say. You can't compare music and musicians like that :)

  • @StakkelsJimm ... ok y'all, take a deep breath and sit back and exhale slowly. Just enjoy what you like and leave the rest of it to the pros playing this wonderful music. It is for all of us to enjoy ... comparing this and that is just .. well, let's say you do more productive and useful stuff with your time. 31 flavors ... there's plenty to go around for all of us ... just enjoy the MUSIC and the people who have made it their business to play it for us!

  • @rony509 Lol...

  • @rony509 Cliff burton, John Entwhistle, Geddy Lee, Victor Wooten, etc. are better, imo.

  • @K0p3rn1cus Cliff burton????? are you serious? naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • @K0p3rn1cus Uh dude, don't forget Jaco Pastorius, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Stanley Clarke and Larry Graham, some of the most important bassists to ever exist.

  • beautiful harmony!!

  • Nah bruh that's David Sanborn playing sax on this track

  • @rony509 Dude, you've been revealed one of the best bassist in the world, and you still say Flea is the best. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

  • real sexy song

  • can some one have tabs for this ?i cant find cause of name of song lol.

  • @al1koc

    no

  • @al1koc You chould find out by ear, by making some mistakes getting there you get some idea of the musical variations you can use to jam on this song :)

  • Nice,real nice.

  • love this song corinne bailey rae and marcuse miller is so talented along with the she did with afro strut and herbie hancock

  • Being a child of the 60s and 70s I remember the Denice Williams original well. I do like this jazzier version. Marcus Miller is so talented! I have a lot of respect for Marcus' musicmanship. He's done a lot of great stuff with David Sanborn.

  • ♥

  • Corrine Bailey-Rae!

  • What's the name of the singer?

Her voice is so so so beautiful and sexy!

  • is it his song or he just covered it?

  • This song was first recorded by DeNiece Williams. Marcus is covering the tune.

  • Deniece Williams recorded this back in the 1970's. Its a jam!!!

  • Covered.

  • Is it his song or he just covered it?

  • Does it exist a live performance of the song?

    Thanks

  • Type the name in on goolge videos.

  • MARCUS MILLER! I'M SO HAPPY YOU MADE THIS SONG YO, WITH CORRINE BAILY RAY MY MAN. THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY! Praise be to God, no homo, I get excited when I play this Joint yo.

  • Sweet Groove

  • Marcus,

you are my favorite electric bassist !

    Kermit

  • @kermitdriscoll Isn't he? I hope he does this again.

  • From Muppets? :-D

  • @kermitdriscoll Jaco Pastorius????

  • @kermitdriscoll u dont happen to be a frog huh?

  • @kermitdriscoll Oh btw that sax solo was Marcus as well. He's a sax player too apparently lol. Man he learned well from Jaco (His Teacher). Great bassists :D!!

  • @Onespellpro No bro that wasn't Marcus playing sax on this track. The sax player on this track was the one and only David Sanborn

  • @saxman2256 Okay I'm stupid...I just replied to my own comment by accident lol, That comment meant to go down here lol

  • @Onespellpro Oh lol. Music A.D.D kickin in xD. Well I think Marcus does play sax tho. He has at some point...hmm....Thanks for proving me wrong? XD

  • @Onespellpro Marcus plays bass clarinet, sax isnt listed on his instruments played. :*

  • @WuvD That's wrong. Saxophone is one of the instruments he could play.

  • @WuvD Well I am totally retarded...I'll just play my trombone again....

  • feel good. I like Deniece Williams' " FEEL" also.

  • Exelentttttttttttttttttttttttttt

  • now to find i love her jazz version , need help , not the original beatles version

  • dud e your alsome , i like the orginal but it took me moths to find this version ,thanks

  • i like this one better than the original

  • Does anyone else think he looks a little bit like Snoop Dog sometimes? Not trying to be offensive or anything.

  • He has an album named "Marcus" (the one where he's wearing a white shirt and he's holding the neck of a bass). It's funny because I thought that picture looked like Dennis Rodman. (in a non offensive way)

  • I'd say saying no offense is offensive to snoop dog

  • wat

  • Dude you are still not making any sense. We are enjoying strawberry ice cream, you saying its good but it doesnt have enough peach. So you apparently dig peach flavor. You think peach is the only flavor and every other flavor is not as good. Now, you have me interested in why you think you are able to judge his tone selection? Who are you? Are you an artist? Would you be so kind as to share some of your work? Or an example of what you think is a "fat" tone

  • Scartman691dude, no hate here. I just don't know what you are talking about. Against her voice his tone is perfect! If it were fatter it would over power her. Just taste man, taste. Just think of the entire song. Miller is sexing-up this tune just right!!

  • Yeah, nah i dont hate it man. I just feel it sounds kinda weak overall, i get your point but you just expect sortof a rounder tone for someone who prises his songs on slap, thats all =)

  • Ok, i know im gonna get alotta hate for this, but am i the only one who hates Marcus Millers bass tone? its soo thin, he needs a MM 'Ray! :P i think he's an awesome bassist dont catch me out on that!

  • I don't hate it, but I wouldn't use it. It's mostly from his bass and his personal preference. I doubt his songs would be the same with a phat tone.

  • Yeah man, i guess thats a fair point however i gotta say i reckon run for cover would sound ALOT better with a real nice fat tone!

  • @Scartman691 Theres just alot of compression plus its youtube, its not gonna sound that punchy in a quiet mix like this.. and its not supposed to, If marcus miller had a fat punchy tone (wich he has often enough) it would probably obscure the clarity of the melodies played in this song

  • i like this version the best

  • is this the original of the song "Free"?

i'm not accusing anyone here, but i first heard it in Towatei's album.

I just wanna listen to the original, and if this is it, then nvm.

  • @TheElle88 the original version is a song made in the 70's by Denise Williams by the same name.

  • something like orgasm...

  • YEA!!! right!! ;D

  • For overall arrangement and vocals I still love Deniece Williams' version most of all.

  • this is too perfect! :)

so i like Lydia's version more than this.

  • fucking brilliant!!!!

  • Voice sounds like Lydia, but bass really is a (big) notch better then hers. No offense, i love Lydia ;-)

  • uau!!!

  • The Besttt.

  • Omg amazing!

  • this was sampled by somebody....

  • If you're a hip-hop head and you're familiar with Mic Geronimo he sampled the original version of this song for his song called "Shit's Real".

  • Lydia?

  • He's a God, but somehow Lydias version sounds better? Blashphemy I know!

  • not blashphemy, she rocks

  • Do a search for a video clip titled "Lydia on bass 5" and you will find the reference that Jpeg13759 was talking about.

  • interesting comments this is a surprisingly exceptional remake of a timeless classic. Never thought it could be redone with any musical value, but this is damn good and stands on its very own. They did it. and I love it!

  • Hay ! They must be playing an edited version on the radio (THE WAVE).... That's just wrong man!!!!!

  • amazing treatment of such a wonderful timeless classic,,,,,,,,ive always loved this song by Denice Williams and would have been a bit skeptical about her attempting such a song that seems to broaden the scope of her musical range until i heard it for my self, she graced it beautifully with her sweet Lilting notes and that "sweet-chick" sound that has quickly become her hallmark and signature sound,,,,,,,,,,,,I loved it

  • Amazing song, I love corrines voice. does anyone know what key this song is in, I was trying to figure out the guitar intro but i cant get passed the second chord.

  • Awesomeness with a bass in it's hand. :D

  • The groove man ever!!! the sound of his bass is remarkable!!!

  • Wow! Marcus has such a beautiful voice!

  • lol!

  • lol..marcus?

  • this is such a beautiful song

  • Incredible...

  • Man, I love Marcus Miller's playing

  • Delicious. Love him and love her voice. Very special and I love Denise's version but this is special.

  • this is good

  • Next to Denise Williams, Corrine can sing "Free" too.

  • Could someone send me the chords to this song?

    Thanks :)

  • Thank you man, great!

  • Amazing song!!!

  • really? how? do people outside of bass players even know this?

  • because marcus has done better stuff than this.

  • hom many versions are out.

  • crazy!! is there a but up tempo version of this song? cuz when i hear it on the radio its just a bit sped up.

  • check Lydia's version on youtube.. it makes my day everytime i see her doing this song
