I am having the same issue in that same area and just purchased Dr. Miracle's cream follicle healer. I've only tried it once, but I will keep you updated on the results. It's suppose to stimulate the hair follicle's so that the hair can grow back in that area.
Unbelievable how many of us are experiencing the exact same issue. I have done some research on scab hair which may be the culprit. I am hoping the CG method helps until it gets long enough for me to start trimming.
...my mom seems to have alopecia and hers does not grow at all..it is mainly scalp....I hope mine won't becoming like that. I don't know what to do, I just try to leave it alone..it is growing just not at the same level as the rest of my hair
Wow I'm not alone when I was relaxed the exact same section was falling out and thinning...it was like half an inch long...and the rest of my hair was at least 5 inches...so I decided to go natural and did a big chop...but I noticed in the past two years the crown area still hasn't grown much its at least an inch or two shorter than the rest of my hair and it realllly bothers me....I don't know what's causing it...maybe its heredity...my my seems to have alopecia in the crown aread but hers....
Separate that part of your hair at night, massage it, brush it and oil or moisturize it and braid that hair up at night.separately from the rest of your hair. You may want to braid all of your hair at night but definitely that part, Over the year I think this is help.
This is my problem, too. I read an article on the curly Nikki blog and it talked about how this may be a weak area for women because it is the part of our hair that is most exposed to the sun. This was an "aha" moment for me and it made sense.
Wow I'm so glad I'm not alone in this. A lot of people have the same issue. We're going to get our crown area to act right :D Maybe I need to start a challenge for growing out our crown..I may do a video & see what you all think about it :)
I have the same issue. Don't know what the solution is. The good thing is it is growing just at a slower rate. Perhaps patience and acceptance? I baby it more than the rest of my head it's just the texture is very delicate. I'll just be thankful it's not all over my head!
YOU MAKE THE BLACK TEA YOURSELF..(TEA BAGS).THE YOU TUBE NATURAL HAIR COMMUNITY AS MANY BLACK TEA RINSES TUTORIALS . MANY NATURALS USE BLACK TEA RINSES FOR SHEDDING HAIR.... BUT IT IS ALSO GREAT FOR STOPPING BREAKAGE IN THE PARTS OF OUR HAIR THAT NEEDS A LITTLE BIT MORE TLC (OUR CROWN AREA ) ITS BEEN A MONTH OF DOING THE RINSE MY HAIR IS STRONGER MUCH BETTER IN THE CROWN AREA AND I CAN SEE A BIG DIFFERENCE, YOU MUST KEEP YOU HAIR VERY MOISTURIZED AFTER THE RINSE !!!! CAN'T HURT TO TRY ;-)
I agree!!! i have the same issue!!! I was told that it was called a stress spot. it is the most course part and fragile as well. Even with braids, my hair would break the most in that area! I really hope we both and your friend can get some ideas on how we can strengthen that part. please keep me updated,i need all the help I can get. thank you
wow since you brought this to my attention I notice my hair is like that as well, Also I'm natural as well and I thought the same thing that it was my perms. But now I know it's not. I don't put it up as well so I really don't know what's going on with my crown
HEY !!! I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE :-( I STARTED DOING BLACK TEA RINSES.... AND IT HAS REALLY BEEN PROTECTING ALL OF MY HAIR (THE CROWN MOSTLY) ;-) JUST A SUGGESTION YOU MIGHT WANT TO TRY !

@NappyNFree - That makes so much sense! Also, I have thin hair and my scalp is always sensitive there....Sun Exposure?! Makes one think...

I have this problem too, but mines is more toward the front. I try to pay more attention to it, like making sure i keep it moisturized.
