Close your bank account! That is our true power, if the banks no longer hold the money, they are out of business. Money in the bank only serves the banks, it does nothing for you, no interest, and you have to pay every time you use it. You can safely hide it in rock safes, etc..., there is much information on this on the INTERNET. If only 10% of the population close their bank accounts, its game over for the banks!!! WE HAVE THE POWER!

So if we use our credit card for a $100 purchase, and the bank increases their bookkeeping entry of $100 dollars because of that transaction, we don't actually owe anything. They can take the $100 dollars from the bookkeeping entry and pay off my purchase. That will help balance their books.

Canada is blessed to be one of only a handful of countries in the world with a PUBLICLY owned central bank. The problem is in that our government(s) lack the political will to use it properly. Instead they borrow from private banks and we the taxpayer are left to pay the compound interest on debts which will never be repaid.

Yes, blessed. The Bank of Canada is a crown corporation with shares held in right of the Queen BUT it has been used to the benefit of Canadians and could be again if we had politicians with the political will to put Canadians before corporate profits. This was also the reason we got NAFTA which should be scrapped as well pronto. You are right about Canadians being asleep at the switch while politicans give it to us up the tailpipe without even saying please.

This is a REALLY important distinction to make between different kinds of central banks, and why a publicly owned central bank can create prosperity, while a privately owned central bank creates debt. I don't think I fully understood the distinction until you summed it up so beautifully. Thank you :)
