I even had an American say that he thought Canada was just "sort of like an extra state... you know, like the other one... Peru or something". I had to inform him he was referring to Puerto Rico and that Puerto Rico was certainly NOT a US State and that Peru is actually a country in South America. ...And this happened in Buffalo.
