As a former Kiwi i found this movie great but disturbing.I did see asimilarity of our natives here in Canada.Wonderful acting.Most Maoris I grew up with were wonderful people.One Maori NZSAS member won the Victoria Cross in Afghanistan.Check out NZSAS on You Tube.Maoris,great folks,damn good rugby players.I hope the movie was not too true to life.

This movie is fucking harrowing. The 1st time I saw it I was overseas in the military and it was on some channel there. It was awful to see what happens to this Maori family but I couldn't look away. They don't flinch when he beats his wife..they don't cut away-they show it in all its brutality. Its not a movie for escapists it so real it hurts. No spoilers but the Only part of this movie that has any feel good is when a bastard gets his just deserts at the end. Still a great movie.
