@agricola um...Chicago and Detroit have traded wins and loses for many years. In the series against each other it's like nearly .500. Detroit has the better end on regular season games but Chicago seems to do better against Detroit in the playoffs. But I wouldn't say that Chicago has been on the "ass end" of the NHL. Especially considering their history and struggles of having to overcome managment issues. Oh and 7 of Detroits cups came from the original 6 advantage.

@letmepointout Um. Series wise the 2 teams are at a near .500 so that would be even. As for beating each other in standings. I wanted to go to a point in time that was even. So I decided to set that point at just as the expansion started. And from the 1967-68 season all the way to the 2009-2010 season the Hawks have beaten the Wings 21 times and the wings had a better standings position then the hawks 20 times. The series is incredibly even. Wings just tend to only remember their years.

And when I posted that the Hawks vs Wings had only played a few games, all of which we had won. I will wait for it to unfold. The wings might even lose to the Hawks in the first round, we'll have to see if the yotes continue their streak of awesomeness and beat the hawks tonight.

well, i wouldn't necessarily assume that the white sox are better than the tigers. i know that the white sox will probably take over the division next year, detroit will have a worse team than they did last year. there is a good chance that the wings could win the round one series as well. man, this is the first year in a long time where the wings won't have home ice for the first two games. that will give chicago an advantage for games 1 and 2. that would be fun to watch.

Go, go do a little research and see how valid many of those cups are even today. See how successful Detroit actually was. Of the original 6 teams bing on of the 3 with the recruiting advantage Detroit did the worst. And I mean with 1st and 2nd having twice as much success. 7 of those cups came from those days. Then now you get 4 in the last 2 decades, well gess what, now it is Chicagos turn, how does that make you feel.

actually the wings are a pretty damn successful team regarding the modern days. in the past, the hawks probably were the better team in the 60's and 70's and such, then the wings started picking it up in the 80's, and now, they were successful ever since, with 18 straight playoff appearances, possibly going onto 19. obviously the hawks couldn't do that, and now, chicagos finally good, just starting last year, but now that the wings are healthy, they better watch out in the playoffs.

I agree with u, my wings will eventually lose a lot of veterans like lidstrom, holmstrom, draper, rafalski, zetterberg, datsyuk, franzen, maltby, etc. the wings still have some good young players such as filpulla, helm, ericsson, miller, etc. its going to happen, but the wings still didn't lose its full depth. they can still be a challenge for the hawks. and the hawks have many good young players that will last for years. but im still a die hard wings fan
