  • Dang I miss drive-in movies. Still a few around, but they're a dying breed. Closest one to me now is about 150 miles.

  • I always hear this after every Sharks pre-game show on the radio.

  • I had this on the relic they call the 45.

  • Underrated , under appreciated song!! Great!!

  • the blond one of course

  • the singer reminds me of sting from the police the way he dances

  • really wish u tube wiould quit putting the ads in front so fucken eritating

  • This is EXACTLY what we would do in High School at this very Drive-In. Missed the filming in Exton as I was in college at the time. Hooters rock!

  • Wow! The last time I remember this song playing I was soaking up the warm summer rays along side a few beautiful girls from "Phili" on the beaches of Wildwood, NJ. Of course the song was playing on my "boom" box cassette player after I just bought the cassette from the boardwalk for about 10 bucks. If I remember correctly, we all went to the movies on the boardwalk that night to see "Back to the Future". I will forever cherish those memories.

  • I used to hang with Eric and Rob on South Street back in the day when WMMR had Block Parties, saw them in every place they played in Philly. This is timeless stuff here kids!

  • Amen, back when the "M" in MTV was about the Music.

  • Sad how most of all the Drive In Theaters have slowly gone.the Exton (shown in the video)is now a strip mall, and was one of the last well known classics.

  • KIDS INCORPORATED VERSION IS BETTER!!

  • @SteelAVic18 Not even CLOSE to as good as the original.

  • @Foolishpleazure are you serious? I listen to both versions. lol it's sad that a bunch of kids made this song famous on a tv show. Have you heard both versions?

  • @SteelAVic18 yes.I AM serious, yes I have listened to both versions and NO.i do NOT like the remake.the original is 100 times better and always will be.

  • I just bought this song on a record for 99 cents even though it is 2012. :)!

  • BTW, I have been a die-hard fan of Alphaville since I first heard of their songs way back in college. I love Big in Japan and keeps on watching the video. The prostitute (?) in the video was shown in a more appropriate for general viewing.

  • Nate Sean,

You surely are very knowledgeable about lyrics of many songs. Of course there will always be exceptions and that's a fact about almost anything. Even J. Gellis band, "Centerfold" used bodies of women. The title speaks for itself. i used the word "seldom." I guess I should have used "more often" instead. Thanks for the response to my comments.

  • The song writers of my 80s generation never had to insert cussing, obscene language and gestures, violence or messages that emphasize illicit drug use to promote their songs. Seldom would you so music videos from the 80s using sex, disrespecting the bodies of women and men just to sell their records. The messages of their songs are very universal and appealing to all generations to come.

  • @64canadian Oh wow you are deluded.

You're right, the songs of the 80's never promoted drug usage...wait, what's that? New Order's True Faith makes references to drugs? Oops, my bad.

Well, you're right about musicians of the 80's totally respecting a woman's bo...wait, The Tubes wrote a whole song about visiting a nudy booth where men pay a dollar to have woman show off their bodies. Oh and Alphaville wrote a song about being a prositute. Oh dear, what happened to our pure and innocent 80's?

  • @NateSean. I did reply to your response to my comments. Your comments are very much welcome. You used the word, "deluded" to refer to me so everyone can read. I am someone you do not know personally. I find that not only offensive but very rude and shows how your parents failed to rear you properly.

  • @64canadian Listen to a lot of 80's stuff again man, there's drug use , swearing and sex in there, it's just generally less obvious because government censorship was stronger back then as well as strict internal censorship by the music publishing industry, so any references to forbidden things had to be more clever and coded, but it WAS there and has always been there since ancient folk songs, to sea-shanties to the early Jazz and blues music in the 1920s.

  • We are now in our late 40s. We will forever be proud that we spent our youth with this so called 80s music.

  • @64canadian Same Here 100%

  • i've met 2 of them no joke

  • 15 ppl didn't dance

  • The saddest part of this video is, I spent the majority of my life in Exton...at least this video is a memory to drive in movies :)

  • vh1 classic ftw

  • good memories from the 80's!!!

  • Fun Song :)

  • This would be a number 1 country hit today. no doubt about it.

  • The 80'S WERE THE BOMB FROM A MUSICAL STANDPOINT

  • remember that good feeling...its called happiness!!!!!!

  • I'm 15 and i love the 80's, i wear 80's style clothes, play 80's music on guitar, and i have an '88 camaro that i blast Van Halen and Def Leppard in! :D

  • @Panterallica1 sounds like you're a fugitive from the 80's. I was 15 in 83 and I love the music and the cars. come pick me up and we can cruise and jam and drink. stay cool my friend. Eddie rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Acid washed jeans! That takes me back.

  • I used to be part of The Hooters, then I took an arrow to the knee.

  • And we danced... Yes we sure as heck did back then! So many memories of going to school dances and dancing our hearts out, my friends and I. The way it felt to be young! This song takes me back to those moments of complete awesomeness and feeling so alive everytime I hear it and makes me long so much for those days. I had the funnest and craziest times back then. A time when you are young enough to believe it will never change . Ahhh to be of innocent mind again. I love the 80's! Miss it so! :-(

  • Play that pianica, dude...

  • Lovin' it!!!

  • This is the good stuff!

  • A thumbs down option on an eighties music upload is pointless.

  • what i don't like is i click on hooters "and we dance" and get beyonce : no.

and then i click on @vevo "and we dance" and get "all you zombies" just thought you might want to know.

  • Great, timeless record, but take the advertisement, and stick it up your rear!!!

  • Gawd I used to LOVE this song..still do!

  • im wet message me and add me

  • @bibrittany9 your a disgusting mother fucker..

  • Great song. Brings back memories of the 1980s.

  • andy samberg with blonde hair time travelin'

  • i just like the beggining music not the singing

  • "Is this the intermission? I want to see 'Return of the Zombies!'"

  • Rob Hyman also wrote 'What If god Was One Of Us'

  • Always loved this .... makes me want to dance too NealAGray! So much joie de vivre in this song! Another goodie - Heaven is a Place on Earth ... Belinda Carlyle ...

  • Great stuff.....I wanna dance upon this earth.......I wanna find some joy in all this madness!!!!!!

  • bad hair

  • Not knocking this group, but this is what record exes would have turned The Replacements into if they could have!

  • Now this is music. I like the small town riff in the beginning. The drive in theater is a great landscape for the video. TUNE!

  • I love that fact that this song still exists..

  • I once hid in the trunk and sneaked into that very drive-in!!! LONG LIVE the memories of the EXTON DRIVE-IN!!!

  • Yes. The good old days. The Hooters and sneaking into the drive in.

  • Wow remind me off all the parties in High School

  • great song. tis unfortunate that people will not get to experience drive in theaters

  • 0:30 - 0:47 is the retirement home version. So they can dance to it :)

  • Oooooooo Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!! I indeed Danced to this Song!!!!!

    Smuiling :)

    Thank U for posting!

    Debra Jean

  • Best song I ever heard.

  • Les Paul Jr. NICE!!!

  • Why the fuck has this GREAT song got a fucking ad with some wasted druggie next to it? What's more, it's a GaGa advert? She going for the manly drug addict look? God, she needs a kicking

  • one or 2 or 4 hell i did 7 got to love 68 Monaco's with 2 droor's and 7 body trunks i miss the old star lite drive in and the movies we saw there i first saw star wars there

by the 80s i had to grow up now i am a grand father with that big old tank in the barn and when the rang kids a a little bigger just like the kids me and the wife will load them into the trunk at a drive in' as teenagers just so they know we are still not square! great music great memory's ''and they did kick Loverboy '

  • Saw these guys open up for Loverboy at the Checkerdome back in the day. I thought they kicked Loverboy's ass!

  • I'm tempted to click on the Lady Gaga music ad or the Avril Lavigne song listed on my suggestion bar.... But no way in hell will I add a view count to those STUPID SONGS!!!

  • @hospitalbedpan1 It's a different style of music, it's not stupid. If they're so terrible, why are you tempted to click them?

  • @hospitalbedpan1

    I clicked it and wished I didn't..

  • @hospitalbedpan1 I find it sad that you're dissing Avril Lavigne when she is actually one of the better artists of the early 2000's. Have you actually listened to any of the artists you've mentioned or do you think you're being original by trashing them in the comments threads of someone else's video?

  • @NateSean ok so Avril could not hold a light to the artists of the 80's

  • CRAP

  • this pinpoints exactly what's wrong with this country. those racist bastards locking him in the trunk.. and what then? most probably murdered him. glamourising gangs and this kind of violence, should be banned from youtube.

  • @bangtokhammer It was a very common practice for teens to sneak friends into a drive in movie theatre by hiding them in the trunk of a car.

  • @bangtokhammer No we are not banning this song from youtube the video is fine i had no problem with it...go on Lady Gaga's videos and say that, shes what caused all the violence of how all her music sucks. nuff said

  • simple real music when music was music now all computer beats etc fuckin bullshit rap sucks and im 15 80s for ever

  • @TheAusieKid You're a fucking idiot. Just because you don't like a certain genre of music doesn't mean that it sucks.

  • @Killemdeaderify well i have a right to my own say so dont like it dont reply fuck off and have a nice day

    simple

  • 9 people dance like the chick on Seinfeld...

  • The Hooters hit #21 in Billboard, 10-26-85. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a great weekend!

  • How can you possibly fight wars while listening to this?

  • Pierre Robert from Philadelphia's 93.3 WMMR was at the concession stand!! (The guy with the long hair and massive beard, lol)

  • @FoxMcCloud2364 lol didn't notice him. Thanks for the heads up.

  • I don't remember this group but I have to say they have one of the best Band names of all times.

  • so who are the other 2 guys doing the acoustic intro?

  • 80sss the best decade

  • @ScorpionsEynar for me to poop on!

  • Me recuerda mis días de walkman (cassettes), caminando cada mañana hacia la secundaria, cuanta vida!!!!!!

  • 80s=best decade of music!

  • I want a Bee-Bop-Baby too!!

  • I loved Andy Samberg during his stint in The Hooters!

  • If I ever learn to play mandolin I will HAVE to play this solo SOMEDAY with someone playing the harmonica part. hehe

  • i just thought, somebody out there might be able to make a lot of money by creating a website that people could suggest what videos they would like to see of bad things happening to crappy musicians.

  • the only video of lady gaga i would watch would be seeing her at an airport, having the tsa give her an anal probe, therefore traumatizing her for life and hooray, no more crappy lady gaga music!

  • @alt132000 -- too bad we'll never see the Amy Crackhouse version lol.

  • @flibideegibbit

    you are a tool!

  • @keithsmove -- but im alive :-P

  • @flibideegibbit

    That's a winner!!!

  • I wish I grew up in the 80's :C 80's music is so much better then what they have on now a days.

  • Wow I remember the old Exton drive in.The only 1 left in the tri-state area is in Vinelan on Delsea Drive.Such greta, great memories brings tears to my eyes at times.

  • Want to know when music really began to suck? The day they stopped playing this.

  • @babylonpaladin= September 10, 1991. that's the day.

  • @vigo894 : Is that a grunge/Nirvana reference? If so...spot on.

  • i want a bee-bop baby!!!!

  • One of the best rock songs and videos ever made.....

  • this is the greatest piece of pop music ever created! show some respect you pieces of fudge!

  • ironically i was dancing to this...

  • @ArielllNicole I don't think that word means what you think it means

  • As a teen spent many FUN night's at the EXTON drive-in-It was great to see it in this video--The Hooter's rocked !!

  • @reedee49 They still rock! I saw them at a festival in Camden a couple of years ago. Fan-freakin'-tastic!

  • This just reminds me of how much music today sucks.

  • The good ole' days......We used to go to the Shipyard Drive-in......

in my 57' Chevy. That's when times were great in Rhode Island.

  • '80s pop rock had the strangest instruments. What's that keyboard/horn thing at the beginning of the song called?

  • Comment removed

  • @ShastaOrange You're just not used to seeing musical instruments since hardly any of today's artists play one and most music comes out of a synthesizer. The "keyboard/horn thing" is a melodica.

  • @ShastaOrange The nickname of the keyboard/horn thing (Melodica) is a "hooter." That's where the band got their name.

  • (Black Dude) C'mon! GET IN!!! They'll only allow 3 people!!! (3 people in the trunk) Just let us get out! (Other dude) WE GOTTA GET TO THIS CONCERT!!!

  • memories. ahh...

  • love love love <3

  • this was how much i pay attention... i was listening to Hootie and the Blowfish one minuet then i am here...wow i need to start reading b/f clicking... LMAO

  • Biggest posers of the mid eighties.

  • The Hooters were back then, are right now, and shall forever be the real fuckin' deal!

  • Fun fact: Eric Bazilian wrote Joan Osborne's hit "One of Us."

  • @ 3:14 if that thing were to wink at me I'd get pretty fucking scared too!

  • Summer of 85. I was 14 and NO responsibilities but to have a good time. This song takes me right back. The 80's were the best.

  • A song that starts out with so much promise up to 0:57 then turns into a steaming pile of shit

  • @platypusboy LOL! I like the song.... but this comment is hilarious.

  • Swept away by the moment ... to 1985

  • iTunes, here I come, lol! ;)

  • just a compilation of great hair

  • The front right hubcap of the car at 0:50 is loose. Just sayin...

  • The innuendo is a little tricky and hard to catch in this song, but it's there. I love the tune, but I always hated that underlying perversion about it.

  • I miss real music! I'm glad I was a teenager in the 80's

  • @Aunttt86 I'm jealous... I was born in 88 :(

  • love this band. very unique sound and tunes. they were also the production team for other calssic tunes like "Time After Time" and other Cyndi Lauper hits.

  • i want my MTV back dammit

  • @jamerapp3 Money for nothing? haha

  • @jamerapp3 Me too! Remember when the "M" in MTV stood for "Music"? Now , at least iin my opinion, it stands for "Moronic".

  • @warpedsoul69 yeah amen what ever happened to this band? unbelievable talent, and they made only one album? something must've happened, i dont get it, i'll have to look it up, im 44 and 80s kid all the way, i love how in this video, this band, 'the hooters' used a not so physically glamorous attractive girl like so many music videos do, & had her wink at the guy, it is great, this band is awesome, all in joy and fun, i just cant understand why only one album, gotta be some reason 80s r timeless!

  • @Yeshuashai1 The Hooters released five studio albums between 1983 and 1993.

  • @Yeshuashai1 Their 5 studio albums appear to be unavailable today. You have to hunt for second hand...

  • Yes Moronic it is................

  • I saw them in Biloxi MS. when they opened for Loverboy and while we were there to see Loverboy, we really didn't want them to leave the stage after their set. They rocked the Mississippi Coast Coliseum that night. Outstanding show!

  • Hey Vevo, Why do you insist that no matter what video I watch I will want to watch Lady Gaga? I am telling that there is no way that I want to watch a video of her unless it involves her getting hit by a car traveling at high speed!

  • @exhiledtonowhere I have to agree with you there, my friend!!! Lady Gag Gag sux and I wouldn't let her anywhere near my dick- would probably fall off!!

  • @exhiledtonowhere

    Agreed....

Poor Amy Winehouse dead....wish it was Lady Gaga

  • @exhiledtonowhere Ha-ha! Good one. I vote for the car to be a dodge challenger. That would make a real mess. More than her atrocious costumes and makeup could hide. If a challenger can't be located quickly enough then a camaro would do in a pinch.

  • @exhiledtonowhere it´s simpple, place a plastic cup with a book on it onfront of the screen ^^

  • @exhiledtonowhere ...and always have to watch this Britney-face in the background

  • @Baghira667 YOU'VE got a Britney face!!

  • @nutsbum No, don't.

  • @exhiledtonowhere As the military says Roger that

  • @exhiledtonowhere -would you lick her stinky pussy >?

  • @exhiledtonowhere `LOL! ` You're awesome!

  • I saw the Hooters perform in the 80's. They were an opening act for somebody but I can't remember who. It might have been Bryan Adams or Stevie Nicks. They were great.

  • @Poochyenagirl I saw them open for Bryan Adams in like 1987. One of my favorite shows of my youth.

  • OMG I remember this song... 80's rocked out like no other. Kids these days don't have half of the cool shit the 80's brought.

Anyone remember collecting Gold Coca-cola pop tabs, and Max Headroom.

oh what about the book club, where if you sold so many books/ you could get prizes, and weaples???

  • 7 people who don't know how to dance

  • Seriously these guys reek of fagness but I do like the song alot

  • Damn they don't 'em like they used to!

  • 1985 I was 15 and just getting on this great wave of music and great times that went for the next 5 or 6 years.

  • I had this on cassette!

  • Oh, the memories...great song from a great time to be young
