Shirley Ellis' recording of this song first appeared on L.A. radio stations KRLA/AM and KHJ/AM in late 1964 and I know this to be fact because I was listening to it on the AM radio of my 1957 Chevy while crusing Santa Fe High School, on Orr & Day Road, in Santa Fe Springs, California ~ as a senior at SFH. Great memories of a time, long long ago. Gone but never forgotten!
Oh, the memories !.The Name Game was plugged to death on Pirate Radio London ( Big L ), in the summerof ' 65.Seems to have been eclipsed by The Clapping Song, so great to hear it after so long, thanks for posting.

Shirley had a great voice. The orchestration was superb. Great fun song from someone from The Bronx.
