in the united states it is illegal to import a car that is 25 years or newer. if you want to import a JDM car that is 25 years or newer the easiest way would be to order it online from canada. most shops will ship you the car and carefully extract and ship you the engine/transmission seperately. when the car goes past the border it is not classified as a car when it has no engine/transmission. however in most states it is still illegal. florida, ga, sc, and nc are the leaniest around here.

These cars are not illegal to own in the usa it all depends on where you get them from and how long your willing to wait with customs and making them meet certain requirements which isn't hard to do if they were illegal you wouldn't be able to have them ship to the usa nor any part of them shipped here I.E. the motor do some research on the subject before you make an assumption

@corona94sj there are these chips called MIL eliminators. when you go to a mechanic they check your exhaust levels through the ECU (on-board computer) the MIL eliminators tell the computer that the engine has perfectly working cathalytic converter even though u don't. I know a guy that has straight pipes on a R33 GT-R Spec-V, RB26DETT of course! and thats what he uses he passes inspection every year! u just have to find a mechanic that will overlook the awesome smell of premium being burnt!

@xjetao, second "dont talk down a car you cant beat" My particular car i use for drag is a methonal injected 215civ6 80 trim indy cylinder head buick gn. Built and tuned by the late bill anderson Of dundalk buick performance. 3400 stall 80lb injectors. Fiber glass front end, race weight of 2700lbs blah blah blah etc...last time before the cam change ran an 8s 1/4mile, but no one cares..point is that 2.6 is a better motor than an ls1 period, its better engineered to flow air with half the size

Speaking from experience, a zo6 suspension is garbage in the first place, they handle awefully. try taking one to a track. And dont say its driver error or learn how to drive. Its not a well balanced car. The only good suspension to ever be on a vette was custom stuff used on c5r/c6rs

It also shows you dont have much knowledge in racing, i suggest you go to any track and see whats possible with any platform. The r34 skyline platform isnt without flaws but its far more sophisticated than any vette ever built. ( read current motor trend) this is coming from a guy who owns a 8second grand national turbo v6 @ 215ci. I also race a ten sec lotus exige all motor 2zzge 1.8.

There is no sound that compares to a big block V-8. About 25k to work with for, (Chevy "Big-Chief" crate motor (10.5k), an older Vette-body with new 4-11/12 bolt rear plus a few extras), & you could shatter all the windows on this blue foreign piece of $hit, make the rice pour out it's undercarriage, and the paint melt off onto the ground (and that's before you ever left the starting line), then easily outrun it in the 1/4 mile. Max RPM vs. Low Gearing & Monster Torque =You Will Lose Every Time!

@Xjetao But I've got one.. Its an R32 GTR, and even though its not built to just go straight fast, I'd say it does so, very well. Car was built in 91, has the original motor and turbo's in it, and I can still blow the doors off of most NEW muscle cars.. Hell.. I'll even race a C5 ZO6 and still walk on it. And I only paid 6 grand for the car. Upgrades to the car are around 3,500 bucks.. ECU, Coil packs, Exedy clutch, boost controller..

@Xjetao yup a boosted 402 stroker-lame, just droped one of those in a 98 trans am for a customer, Ls engines are great but its a cop out when a 2.6 inline can put down the same kinda power. Vettes are quick for what they are and any car can be fast with enough money. The only reason chevy had a decent zr1 in 91 was because lotus had to make their engine designs( the lt5). At that time the normal tpi 350 was a pos, The gtrs of that time were still years ahead of american v8 design.
