I gave this a thumbs down simply because you have entirely 100% failed to show the fighting and interaction of LoTRo all together, leaving a one sided view for WoW to be more engaging, and LoTRo to be simply something "pretty" to look at. It's not a girly game by any means. I have played both and have to say that LoTRo has forced me to fight harder and build my character stronger to withstand some of the intense battles I've been in. WoW only required me to buy the best gear. That's it.

Still in my opinion the main point of an MMORPG is !!COMMUNITY!! that is the main feature when you compare it to an RPG, and in that field LOTRO surpasses WoW by an astronomical margin.
LOTRO is 300000000 times better than WoW. I was a night elf. Got to level 10 and got stuck In stormwind city! Now I can't play WoW because it breaks my comp! Lotro works like magic!!! Currently lvl 40 and no comp breakdowns yet. Plus WoW is only one of the top comp games because it has MASSIVE publicity!!! If lotro had as much publicity as WoW did, then it would kick WoW's ass to Jupiter! Therefore lotro has better storyline, community, weapons, clothing, and WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY better graphics

Wow is losing it's player base by the millions, it will very quickly lose it's place at top mmo. And the reason it's so popular is just cause it has been around longer than lotro. And the wow community is and always will be horrible

WoW is a good game, but definitely over hyped, LOTRO looks better, is F2P, the community is MUCH nicer (not saying everyone in WoW is an asshole and also not saying everyone in LOTRO is nice), combat is pretty much the same, trait system (which leads to more builds), better lore, actual set main quest that ties into the movies/books (not directly but stuff in the back)

Lotro and Wow is good in their ways, I have played both of them and they are really good games. But my favourite genre is RPG and...Well Wow was my favourite. I play lotro now too. Wow have got better pvp and more ''Hardcore'' I think..Lotro is..I think better for roleplay and adventure, I think..Lotro quests is very awesome. I tried WoW after I got a week's ban on LoTRO then quickly realised why when someone was rude in the chat channels people would say things like 'There's that old world of warcraft spirit' or 'did you come here from WoW?'. The community is absolutely vile. Hated the whole game.

This community is different than that of WoW - here, the majority of players are dedicated Tolkienites who dive into the characters that they have created; from what I have seen in WoW, it is all about how many f-words one can fit into a sentence. That and it seems to be an arena where every boy attempts to prove his "manhood". I seek quality and depth, not lewdness and superficiality.
every wow vs lotro video i have seen has had new video content from lotro and old video from wow. Its not exactly fair. Although in my opinion, both games are better at certain things. Wow vs Lotro Graphics: Lotro wins. PvE: Wow wins. Also both games DO have a storyline, just the lord of the rings storyline was made famous by the movies where as Wow has not had a movie yet. Also in my opinion wows newer stuff is beating lotros new stuff by a land slide, but all in all both are great games!

I used to play WOW and LOTRO before switching to Rift (because of its dynamic game system and superior pvp). However, I feel lotro to be the better of the two (wow) because of its great storyline, beautiful graphics/music, and some of the problems they fixed from wow. It's a great game for the casual MMO player. I highly endorse it.

People should remember that LOTRO is based in the book Lord of The Rings. WoW use some of the beings created by Tokkien in the Lord of the Rings book. The way of gameplay is similar but one (LOTRO) follow the history of the Book, WOW just beings like Orcs, Elves, ....
Anyone that create a game after both of them will always be consider a copy because both are based in a great book and have a very good gameplay. It's really important to know each one copys the other?

It is not graphics that make the games good, it is the game itself. Like, Wow has Stories, Story, Quests, Free World, Role Play, Player Versus Player and Player Versus Enemy. WoW ice note only based on pathetic PVE and PVP. It is also based on roleplay and much more, you may do what you want in addition to hacking and stuff. But you can fuck them say that WOW is a damn game for noobs and idiots and nerds for it is not. Some like LOTRO and some do not like, same with WOW So shut up and grow up
In my opinion lotro is more mature. It is better for a million reasons. WoW seems childish. All the monsters in lotro would give little kids nightmares. WoW just seems boring. Lotro is based on an excellent book series which might as well be the core of fantasy games. Plus lotro graphics are way better.
And just to teach you something you obviously didn't know, lotro is not a game focused on PvP, but story driven. Having the best tale of our time as it's base really helps, and it's doing it well, very well.
I also forgot to mention... When Diablo 3 comes out, a lot of people will most likely cancel their subscriptions and go play that. Blizzard will likely focus much more on that game in the future brining WoW to a secondary interest.
Ive played both alot :P, but i would say WoW is better for pvp all thou its weird as they focused on ther pve and lotro is better for pve however if i wanted to play pvp on an MMO id buy Warhammer Online, in conclusion i prefer both WAR and LOTRO over WoW
If WoW was not a great game it could not have come this far. But it's at the end of it's rope now, the possibilites are drained. LOTRO have something WoW never had, a story supported by the finest tale in our time and the mother of modern fantasy at that. LOTRO got many many updates and expansions ahead of itself, so much like WoW once did, it got the whole world ahead of it.

Now considering that you said you never played WoW you being naive saying that it has no story and that it is at the end of the rope. What possibilities are drained? WoW has a variety of choices Lotro doesn't have to offer. Player made addons being the most important, pvp, easy dungeon access... and more.
@sobolev123 Look at how fast the latest one drained out, WoW's player base are mostly kids and longer term players as far as I'm informed. They can release how many expansions they want, but you can't competge with time. New games come, people leave. I'm not saying it has not story, but it can never compare to lotr, especially since that's the story every other MMORPG looks at. I also think a lot of pepople prefer a more mature community.
@Luxai So in conclusion, in the long term WoW won't be able to keep up with the future giants. Blizzard is trying it's hardest to milk as much money out of it as they can. People played til 85, some in a day, on cataclysm then left. They might come back if there comes a new expansion, but they will reach the max lvl again and leave.
Also lotro is not P2P only, a lot of players are free players, let's talk about how fast lotro TOTAL player base is growing... and that's fast ^^

I have played Lotro for 2 months (lvl 55 rk). It has many fatal flaws and in my opinion needs to have a huge update. Some being Monster play, Dungeons, Auction house, player made addons.
Lotro went F2P because they had a little subscribers base around 100K and needed more money where as blizzard needs the 15$ a month to keep ever server up.
70% of WoW are players above the age of 25 info received from WoW.

Lotro and Wow is good in their ways, I have played both of them and they are really good games. But my favourite genre is RPG and...Well Wow was my favourite. I play lotro now too. Wow have got better pvp and more ''Hardcore'' I think..Lotro is..I think better for roleplay and adventure, I think..Lotro quests is very awesome. Lotro is an IMMENSE game, I am on a German server, i still find english people tho, they have a kinship(large group of people) and they invited me, if i need help i ask and get a lvl 65 help me do a lvl 18 mission! I tried WoW after I got a week's ban on LoTRO then quickly realised why when someone was rude in the chat channels people would say things like 'There's that old world of warcraft spirit' or 'did you come here from WoW?'. The community is absolutely vile. Hated the whole game.

This community is different than that of WoW - here, the majority of players are dedicated Tolkienites who dive into the characters that they have created; from what I have seen in WoW, it is all about how many f-words one can fit into a sentence. That and it seems to be an arena where every boy attempts to prove his "manhood". I seek quality and depth, not lewdness and superficiality.

every wow vs lotro video i have seen has had new video content from lotro and old video from wow. Its not exactly fair. Although in my opinion, both games are better at certain things. Wow vs Lotro Graphics: Lotro wins. PvE: Wow wins. Also both games DO have a storyline, just the lord of the rings storyline was made famous by the movies where as Wow has not had a movie yet. Also in my opinion wows newer stuff is beating lotros new stuff by a land slide, but all in all both are great games!

I used to play WOW and LOTRO before switching to Rift (because of its dynamic game system and superior pvp). However, I feel lotro to be the better of the two (wow) because of its great storyline, beautiful graphics/music, and some of the problems they fixed from wow. It's a great game for the casual MMO player. I highly endorse it.

People should remember that LOTRO is based in the book Lord of The Rings. WoW use some of the beings created by Tokkien in the Lord of the Rings book. The way of gameplay is similar but one (LOTRO) follow the history of the Book, WOW just beings like Orcs, Elves, ....
Anyone that create a game after both of them will always be consider a copy because both are based in a great book and have a very good gameplay. It's really important to know each one copys the other?

It is not graphics that make the games good, it is the game itself. Like, Wow has Stories, Story, Quests, Free World, Role Play, Player Versus Player and Player Versus Enemy. WoW ice note only based on pathetic PVE and PVP. It is also based on roleplay and much more, you may do what you want in addition to hacking and stuff. But you can fuck them say that WOW is a damn game for noobs and idiots and nerds for it is not. Some like LOTRO and some do not like, same with WOW So shut up and grow up

In my opinion lotro is more mature. It is better for a million reasons. WoW seems childish. All the monsters in lotro would give little kids nightmares. WoW just seems boring. Lotro is based on an excellent book series which might as well be the core of fantasy games. Plus lotro graphics are way better.

I will speak some words of wisdom.
If WoW was not a great game it could not have come this far. But it's at the end of it's rope now, the possibilites are drained. LOTRO have something WoW never had, a story supported by the finest tale in our time and the mother of modern fantasy at that. LOTRO got many many updates and expansions ahead of itself, so much like WoW once did, it got the whole world ahead of it.

Now considering that you said you never played WoW you being naive saying that it has no story and that it is at the end of the rope. What possibilities are drained? WoW has a variety of choices Lotro doesn't have to offer. Player made addons being the most important, pvp, easy dungeon access... and more.

They can release how many expansions they want, but you can't competge with time. New games come, people leave. I'm not saying it has not story, but it can never compare to lotr, especially since that's the story every other MMORPG looks at. I also think a lot of pepople prefer a more mature community.

@Luxai So in conclusion, in the long term WoW won't be able to keep up with the future giants. Blizzard is trying it's hardest to milk as much money out of it as they can. People played til 85, some in a day, on cataclysm then left. They might come back if there comes a new expansion, but they will reach the max lvl again and leave.
Also lotro is not P2P only, a lot of players are free players, let's talk about how fast lotro TOTAL player base is growing... and that's fast ^^

I have played Lotro for 2 months (lvl 55 rk). It has many fatal flaws and in my opinion needs to have a huge update. Some being Monster play, Dungeons, Auction house, player made addons.
Lotro went F2P because they had a little subscribers base around 100K and needed more money where as blizzard needs the 15$ a month to keep ever server up.
70% of WoW are players above the age of 25 info received from WoW.
