she is a good dnacer that I like to watch but I get turned off when I see her imitating dina and oing gestures that Dina does like touching her nose or when she touched her arm at 0:26. Dina does that a lot. Orit should try to create her own style without sticking to Dina. She should do like Randa. Randa has her unique style. she devlopped it like Dina develiopped her style. that is what make them the top of the top.
I think the lip syncing takes from the interpretation. As a dancer you should express the music with your DANCE. with your motion, with your face (Nadira Assaf said that as a judge on a bellydance show, and I believe she is right on with it). You are not a singer in a video clip, you should express with your dance only. Anyone can lip sync on a dance floor. The hard thing is doing it through the movement of the body only. A great dancer tells a story in her dance, not with her lipsync.
@GalinaMora yes, as I said: the lipsyncing takes from the beauty of the dance for ANY dancer. A dancer should embody the feeling of the song with her movement. Shes not a singer, she should not have to resort to spelling out the meaning of the song with her lips IMO, but do her job and express the meaning "mute" with her bodily movement :)
Well, on some singers it looks beautiful: Tahia Karioca used to do that. I think that judge was way to cathegoristic. If it is done in the right measure, why not?
@GalinaMora If Tahia did it she did it as an actress - for movies it is normal the dancers will lip sync as part of the plot. The contemporary dancers do not lipsync as part of the plot in a movie - it distracts from their dance, and is kind of the "easy way out" to express the music for me. But better in the right measure, than excessively :)
@dinavienna you should watch Maria Shahkova, I just fell in love with her dance style. she is so good and so wild and. If her name was arabic I would think she is egyptian. My favorite dancer is Randa but I have to say that now I love Mria's dance style. orit, I do not care about her dabnce anymore. she copies Dina and that is a turnoff
@Ritabellydance hi RIta, thanks for suggesting me a dancer, very kind of you! I must say unfortunately Maria's style is a big turn-off for me - it's so "wild" it is not bellydance anymore even though she is doing the movements. she kills the soul in the music, it is just rough and overly suggestive to me.. but thanks for your suggestion anyway appreciated :))
not to say Orit is not a good dancer. She is, sometimes she is GREAT. but the lip syncing takes from it, as with any other dancer IMO. and ya the costume is a killer!
compared to Warda her voice hurts. I like Haifa's style, but her voice here really really sucks compared with Warda! I hope she never tries an Oum Kolsoum song, God forbid!
@HelenaChristensen I don't know if everyone is being "horrible" with Orit - I see many praise her, also Arabs. Of course there can be negative feelings towards her for being Jewish, or fr doing Arabic dance as a Jew, both by Arab nationalists and I have heard a good deal of harshness by nationalist Israelis on why she does the "primitive Arab dance". she wrote an article on gildedserpent how many Jews did not like her doing the dance first, and many Arabs didn#t either. But you are right,
She seems to be quite popular with Arab Israelis on social occasions, although she said some years ago (in that article she wrote) in the beginning at least it was more Arab Christians in Israel who booked her than Arab Muslims.
It is a deep political conflict, dancers and artists feel it too. it goes through all layers of society.
I can also see why Arabs will not want to book a Jewish dancer with all that's happening in Gaza!
@HelenaChristensen It is hard to be friends even with individuals who may have a heart of gold when your people is so mistreated by "their kind" or how you want to term it. Of course it also singles you out as a person with an open mind and heart if you can despite these happenings make friends with the "good ones" you can find in every people, and not judge people by their ethnic descent, but by their own actions. And I have seen Orit ONLY respectful with Arab art, music, language.
@HelenaChristensen bottom line: I think she's a lovely lady, and a really good dancer. When it comes to picking my all time favorites it will be Arabs so far, or non Arabs who have grown in Arab countries, but she definitely radiates feeling for the music IMO.
and by the way u need to get ur own music with ur language and ur own country that isnt illegal!! and go lose that fat stomach of urs!! cause ur fat stomach is movin when ur tryin to shake ur "butt"... so ur ugly and cant dancce that sad!!
forget the dancer. WHO the hell is singing?!! Sounds like Haifa Wahbe drunk! This song belongs to the great legend Warda. The person singing has limited vocal capabilities, actually she has none. Or does the singing have to be the same standard as the dancing? Ugh, my ears are going to bleed!
