  • @kingscrusher hey, I really enjoy your vids. I just started playing the winawer. On chess.com and ICC and my rating there has gone up 100+ points. If you could cover the winawer in more depth that would be awesome!! :)

  • Thanks for the video, keep em coming cheers

  • @kingscrusher dont want to be rude but i disagree this is a great video, very precise and clear, showing many lines and variation it would take me months to come across all of those lines but here we have a nice quick guide, this is a really good video in my opinion, my french is weak when i play the white side and that is because i had no idea what some good moves were, now i know, yahoo chess here i come!

  • I wonder who the jealous haters are who down'rated your video. There was nothing bad about the content, and it was actually brilliant. I enjoy ur instructional videos. Thanks.

  • Ive gotten comfortable with the sicilian and kings indian, but ive watched this video enough times to try the french defense. I wonder how it plays against a 1200+ player? What other openings are good for black, especially for someone who may not have much experience?

  • You're awsome! I enjoy watching your games and lessons, and my game is improving thanks to watching you play and hearing your feedback. I think I can speak for many chess players that subscribe to you we really appreciate and enjoy your videos!

    Cheers.

  • @kingscrusher i actually really liked ur "faster" way of explaining the french defense...since i alrdy know the basics

i think that if u have never seen this openning this video wouldnt help much, but for a already experienced player this video is really good

  • Great vids, thanks for the info! What software are you using here?

  • At 4:12 he ccan just take at f7 with the knight. Cant he.after Bxf7 Qxf7 Rg8. Black is up a pawn. Shute he will have some pressur on the f file. But one Be3 is played by white he will have a nice defense.

  • My goodness,,, I hate the French, is there any German? hehe

  • What about e4 e6 .d4 d5 e5 c5 c3 Nc6 Nf3 Qb6 Bd3! cxd4 cxd4 Nxd4 Nxd4 Qxd4 Bb5+ Bd7 Bb5xd7+ and white wins blacks queen line

Rather than play Nxd4 from black taking white's pawn Black should play Bd7 to stop trap!

  • i dunno about you but everytime i do the french first thing is the white bishop checks my king. it never fails :/

  • Check in itself is no threat. If there's no thought to it, it's as likely to be bad for the checker as for the checked. White loses time here if you just kick it away with c6.

  • @imermiguel if you block the check with the bishop then if the bishop takes take it back with the knight

  • Your teaching videos are the very best!

Thanks for your time and efforts

  • Well done.

  • Tal played king D1 against botvinnik..

  • the thing i like in french and caro-kann(the little brother fo the french) is these opening for black keep their pawn structures very good in end game

  • at 2:31 there is f4 attacking the knight and pawn at f2...

  • Thanks for the vid. can you pls touch the advance variation.

  • Thx. very nice clip. I've had a lot of trouble with 3.Nd2 players, being a french player myself. now i'll try some of these options a little deeper.

  • I thought the French Defense was surrendering immediately.

  • :D good one.

  • yainorite =D

  • LMAO

  • @shurikin93 Thats racist.

  • @shurikin93 Omg that is funny

  • Yeah its quite common for people to pronounce 'th' as 'f''. It's not a regional thing. his videos are so good that I wouldn't want to complain though :)

  • I think you should explain the bishop d3 trap for the begginers trying to play the french defense. If they dont play bishop d7 they would be a queen down. Besides that, all was good.

  • thanks that helpful

  • kingcrusher: i really would like to know the korchnoi gambit in french i red fot the 1,st on newspaper but i can't finde that artical!. thnx

  • Great video. Thank you very much. Do you think you could do separate videos on Tarrasch, Winawer and Exchange?

  • against advance variation doesnt black usually play h5 followed by Nh6-f5 to secure the knight.

  • u re doing great job thanks for your time

  • Thanks you for the video. What mostly worries about French defense is advanced variation for Black. Maybe because it prevents ...Nf6.

  • to fast.

  • That's what the pause button is for...

  • nice thougth i never play chess that much

  • Thank you so much for your time and for sharing your tremendous knowledge.

    "1. e4 e6 2. Nf3 d5 3. c3 "

It is a lazy question - I wish I could fast fwd and rewind without having to start all over again.

Best to you and thanks again

    ♟ e6

  • I myself am not a native english speaker, but very much came to like the way kingscrusher talks english. And not to mention the nice quality of his videos, which provide a nice overall view of things with no particularly deep analysis; and that I mean in a good sense. Keep up the good work!

  • You're an idiot. Maybe you should get out of the cardboard box you live in and see the world.

  • Hey, nice video of showing the variations of french defence. I use to play chess during elementary school and remember my chess teacher showing me this. However is there at anyone point where french defence becoming an advantage. I keep hearing how black is in an "ok position" but does it become an advantage at one point, being ahead a few points?

  • it is unreasonable for black to expect an advantage against an opponent who plays without too many inaccuracies in the opening.

Black's aim in the opening is to equalise, while white's aim is to maintain the tempo advantage.

  • hey ppl, Am I wrong or the french demands a hard work for the white knights???

  • which one is french defence white/black.? i am newbee

  • French defense is for black

  • defence is for black, oppening is for white

  • E.Sveshnikov has a book on 1.e4e6 2.d4d5 3.e5!.He claims it a very mighty weapon against the French.

  • Vis-a-vis FlorianTB's comment, I think it would be very good if you have a set of videos on openings that only went through the main lines (and/or variations) with lots of examples, and have another set of videos that actually discuss more deeply the strategy part of those lines/variations. I know this involves more work, but then it would be a lot more useful to your target audience who I believe can be divided into two broad groups: beginners and amateurs.

Great videos, btw! Keep them coming!

  • sweet

  • thanks a million for sharing. french defense also turns into an attack on the queenside later on. beautiful video.

  • please do the sicilian defence.

  • This is a great overview of a defence that I really don't know how to crack or how to play as black, thanks.

  • Thanks man! Good video.

  • I'll never get bored of watching these, and now educational videos are being shown... Great stuff!

  • keep up the good stuff...

  • Very interesting video, ty .

  • Sweet
