I'm not really a Radiohead fan at all. But I am I musician, and I have to say that this cover was MUCH better than the original. I actually like Radiohead more having heard this song. Haha. I love how you used the bow on the guitar. Great cover and great voice. Keep it up man.
for a first attempt thats pretty neat, assuming your skills probably dont go beyond windows movie maker. i wanted to make a question though, are all the scenes from bunuel? good selection, in my opinion, at least the first ones are excellent choices. by the way, the cover you did with the broken keyboard, awesome man, good work
@uhgvitybvouv yeah, I did it with an old ('06) version of iMovie. I've just recently gotten Final Cut, so will hopefully start doing some more videos at some point.
And yes - all the scenes are from Un Chien Andalou.
A truly incendiary cover of one of my all-time favourite songs. I love what you did with it, Levi. Also, "What this looks like" really moved me. I think you are an extraordinary musician.
I've been listening to Radiohead for more than a year now, but I've been unable to stop listening to this cover for the whole day. Thank you. If you happen to play near Eastern Europe, I will be in the first row.
That was amazing!! Thank you so much!! Was having a crappy day but this cover restored my faith in awesomeness. Idioteque is one of my favorites and to hear it re-worked like this is fantastic. If you lived in New Zealand I would gladly buy you a beer.
not only is the video amazingly well done, but the cover itself is beautiful and i can't stop listening to it. i love what you've done with the song and i'd say it's better than the original :P i'm a huge radiohead fan, they're my favorite band and i must say you've done justice to this song. keep doing what you're doing, it's incredible
I am a huge radiohead fan. Like, I live to hear their music. I would consider this and your live performance of this with the loop station music I would listen to with the same fervor. I'm glad I found this. Good luck and you sound great.
The video was kind of creepy, but I liked the music. Nice guitar playing. I had never considered playing a guitar with a bow... will have to try that.
Im not sure I wanna look, I mean, I've seen some nasty movies before, And I know they used a cows eye for Un chien, but it still..it gives me the chills.
But anywho, I checked out your other music, and Im very impressed, thanks for gracing us with your talent :)
Take care Mr. Weaver, Hope you have a happy and fruitful career :)
hey there! Gotta say I performed Radiohead in front of my school assembly a few months back, your live vid being the inspiration, and i've kept watching it since :) i'm thrilled i've found the rest of your stuff. You got annother fan down is Australia! Gotta say though, I love both this and another live version I heard, but it sounds like your holding back on the singing with this one!
I will be coherent and express only love for this version. Nice work. I like the vocals too. You're not supposed to sound like Thom Yorke. You make it yours.

as for Ableton, I would love to use it, but just haven't made the investment yet. In the video here I'm just using a Line 6 DL-4, but have since upgraded to the Boss RC-50 loop station.

thank you!! it's available on iTunes, CDBaby, Amazon... I think pretty much anywhere you get digital music, it should be there. (maybe not imeem yet, I'm not sure.)
I am thoroughly surprised. I think I Iike this version better than the Kid A version (though I don't think anyone will ever be able to match some of the live performances).

youve done a great thing here imo. youve retained the core elements of the song while putting your own twist on it (which should be the goal of anyone recording a cover), but the really impressive thing is the inventiveness and imagination with which youve approached it.
i think the boys from radiohead would very much approve. congrats.
hey levi, long-time-no-see... i totally love this song... u should play like this at church sometime... btw, i think u did this song way better than radiohead ever did... i may be the only who thinks this, but hey, it's what i believe, lol... u should really come to college station, tx sometime n play here or at least someplace close... i', pretty sure there are plenty of aggies here that would enjoy a different approach to good music... miss ya...
not only impossible, but an exact replication would ruin the point of a cover :)

This particular version is the studio version, though. I didn't have to use any looping, as I went ahead and tracked the whole thing like the rest of the album.

thanks for realizing that. I sometimes catch crap from a lot of folks who can't. :)
I've just realised, that every time I listen to your version, I have to back and listen to the original, on Kid A. Just to remind myself that the original is better.
Please come to NY!!! i saw your live video where your melodica broke onstage, which lead me here. Both performances are amazing, like most people said, most artists who cover radiohead (me included) can't do the songs justice, but you clearly can.

Okay. So I legitmately listened to both versions over and over, and came to the conclusion that I like yours best. Your interpretation comes off deeper, probably because of the heavier instrumentation. You make the song sadder too, and less "political dance party." Don't get me wrong, I love the Radiohead version. But yours is so strong. Keep it up, Levi.
man, u're a genius ! i realy love ur interpretation, i think its the best cover ever ! can i get ur mail to correspond about music ? "woman & children first..."
online radio station where you put in a band or song name that you like and it will play songs similar to it and you can choose whether or not you like it or not... i THINK that's what we were listening to. my teacher just turned on some music. but this song definitely got played at some point.
Good job on incorporating suitable clips from Bunuel and Dali's "L'age D'or." Very groundbreaking movie. Now as for the cover, I love it. The sheer chaotic tone of it really delivers your interpretation. Keep up the great art.
OMG, I love this song. :] You did such a great job!!!! Yeah, for Levi!!! :D :]] Man, I freikin' love the way this song turned out. :] You are just too freikin' über cool. :] Ha-ha. :] — Can't wait to hear more of your up-coming album! :D XOXOXO<333 Next video you make has to be really cool, like, way cool. :]
I don't really know how I feel about it. On the one hand, because it's you and I love this song I like the video, but on the other hand it almost seems like it's trying too hard to be artistic and significant. It comes off a little...arrogant? Or maybe I just don't understand it. But it does look beautiful.
i mean i definitely wanted it to be art, so i can see that. i felt like the video fit the frenetic nature of the recording (which was why i chose it) but there's not any art-school hidden storyline. it's just supposed to be visually stimulating. (an interview with S. Dali, who co-directed the movie confirms that was the case with the original as well)
so.
*shrugs* i guess maybe if you just don't try to read too much into it, the "arrogance" factor might fade some?
Arrogant in the way that it is like it's trying to make the viewer think about some philisophical undertone. To find out there is nothing more then being visually stimulating seems a tad dissapointing. Especially coming from an artist who is original and creative.
I suppose it feels hollow. I didn't expect it to come from someone who could make me cry in concert. It's as if it's unfinished.
It is gorgeus, I don't mean to imply that its not. I don't mean to offend you.
Well, i think some people will take more from it than others. it's not devoid of meaning, i just didn't have a set, one-angle, point-making pretense from the onset.
I feel it fits the recording & the song. It should be jumpy & quirky; i feel the blips and flashes hold true to the spirit of the original and the interpretation.
I'm assuming this wasn't the song that had an emotional impact on you during the live show? I certainly think that I'll do more videos for my original songs, and as i do them, they will fit the nature of their song. I wouldn't have done this style for Del Cielo or You Are Home, y'know?
and i'm not offended; if i ever feel a criticism is unwarranted, i just ignore it :)
I agree that it should be full of "blips and flashes" - not only for the song, but in honor of Radiohead (re: the vid for "Just" - holy Moses that thing messes with my head).
I think the hollow feeling described is kinda the point to a degree. I could be terribly wrong... I leave a large amount of space for being wrong... but it's not a happy song. When I play it I either feel like I didn't quite get it or that it's kind of crushing my soul - depending on the end result.
funny you should mention that - i lived in Birmingham for 2 years; just moved back to the States in February. I miss it a lot. It's definitely a "WHEN", not an "If" I come back. (hopefully this summer)
levi, you're still amazing, i'm so glad i got to see you in concert, you really have to to understand how amazing what you're doing is, it's beautiful.
hahahahha the dude fell off his bike...oh wait omigosh hahhahaha the lady got hit by a car ...wtf...ants? hahahahaha!! this vid was great, if there was like some significance to all that old movie stuff..i didn't catch on..i was too busy laughing the second the dude fell off his bike..on a serio note. I ADORE this cover, i've told you a bajillion times. I like the effects and stuff it was cool. I like how you throw your arms around wildly...wee windmills. I heart your talents ^^

This is fantastic! Your voice during "Here I'm allowed everything all of the time" is really amazing.

today in math we were listening to pandora and this came on and i freaked out.
good story, right?
juliamargaret13 4 years ago
what's pandora?
LeviWeaver 4 years ago
online radio station where you put in a band or song name that you like and it will play songs similar to it and you can choose whether or not you like it or not... i THINK that's what we were listening to. my teacher just turned on some music. but this song definitely got played at some point.
juliamargaret13 4 years ago
that's amazing! are you sure it was my version and not the original (by radiohead)?
LeviWeaver 4 years ago
err it didn't sound like radiohead... it sounded more like this. but i might be wrong, and there's really no way to tell at this point.
juliamargaret13 4 years ago
i'll go with it was me, and be happy for the rest of the day :)

Great cover! Congrats.

This is a great cover. I like how you found ways to add new aspects to the song that Radiohead left unexplored -- perhaps for somebody else to find?

That's an impressive cover =)

Good job on incorporating suitable clips from Bunuel and Dali's "L'age D'or." Very groundbreaking movie. Now as for the cover, I love it. The sheer chaotic tone of it really delivers your interpretation. Keep up the great art.

I don't really know how I feel about it. On the one hand, because it's you and I love this song I like the video, but on the other hand it almost seems like it's trying too hard to be artistic and significant. It comes off a little...arrogant? Or maybe I just don't understand it. But it does look beautiful.
siriusgirl 4 years ago
arrogant? how so?
i mean i definitely wanted it to be art, so i can see that. i felt like the video fit the frenetic nature of the recording (which was why i chose it) but there's not any art-school hidden storyline. it's just supposed to be visually stimulating. (an interview with S. Dali, who co-directed the movie confirms that was the case with the original as well)
so.
*shrugs* i guess maybe if you just don't try to read too much into it, the "arrogance" factor might fade some?
LeviWeaver 4 years ago
Arrogant in the way that it is like it's trying to make the viewer think about some philisophical undertone. To find out there is nothing more then being visually stimulating seems a tad dissapointing. Especially coming from an artist who is original and creative.
I suppose it feels hollow. I didn't expect it to come from someone who could make me cry in concert. It's as if it's unfinished.
It is gorgeus, I don't mean to imply that its not. I don't mean to offend you.
siriusgirl 4 years ago

LeviWeaver 4 years ago
I agree that it should be full of "blips and flashes" - not only for the song, but in honor of Radiohead (re: the vid for "Just" - holy Moses that thing messes with my head).
I think the hollow feeling described is kinda the point to a degree. I could be terribly wrong... I leave a large amount of space for being wrong... but it's not a happy song. When I play it I either feel like I didn't quite get it or that it's kind of crushing my soul - depending on the end result.

that's a good point. a good read of the lyric sheet reveals a pretty bleak string of phrases.

your cover of this is fucking brilliant man! well done. when you're in england im so going to have to come see you live.
PeteDudeUK 4 years ago
thats an "if" you come to england. which you should.
PeteDudeUK 4 years ago
funny you should mention that - i lived in Birmingham for 2 years; just moved back to the States in February. I miss it a lot. It's definitely a "WHEN", not an "If" I come back. (hopefully this summer)
LeviWeaver 4 years ago
birmingham?? that would be awesome. i live like an hour away from there.
summer would be even more awesome because im actually at home and not at uni.

It's a really good video, but I like the live one better due to the spontaneity of it.

GREAT video. But i gotta said, you sound much better live, maybe you should record this cover again in a much better studio.
Great Job, best cover ever.
