Well, in some ways you're right - due to the smaller bore, the soprano sax does have some similarity in tone to the oboe and is even sometimes used instead of the oboe, but the sopr. sax is a single reed instrument (the oboe is a double reed) & is really more like the B♭clarinet. ,although the clarinet can play a lower and higher & the sax generally has a louder and more penetrating sound on the top.

He plays well, but i hate the metallic sound of the amps.
