  • ..male cameltoe!!.lol

  • I'm not saying I don't like this song - I really do - but it's a strange subject to sing about while wearing that outfit.... and he could have done with a couple of dancers to stop him feeling so 'stared-at'... still, I bet he thanks Peter Kay for his revival.. :)

  • @phillipbailey70 I respect your view . . . Different strokes . . . for different FOLKS.

  • @NoWurrezz11 I respect your view too, and I am not knocking Tony - he has an excellent voice. I guess I'm just questioning the whole setup. Could have been darker - could have used some support - and why the pier shots? Is this from some seaside special? If so it was probably targeted at some family audience, hence my comments about the subject matter. I am sincerely NOT after an argument, I'm just trying to learn more about this performance - thanks for your response :)

  • @phillipbailey70 You sound like a really nice person , Good heart and all.

I understand where your coming from. xx

  • @NoWurrezz11 subbed thx. xx

  • This song was out there when I was about 15 or 16. I was on a 'holiday' with Margery and we went to Balqhuidder, near Strathyre I have probably spelled this wrong. Anyway I always remember this song. Margery Morley , if you are out there , get in touch. My name used to be Elizabeth MacDonald.

  • after meeting tony last year he is a real gentleman who had all the time in the world to talk to fans,

  • Extra points for the cutsie dance moves over lyrics about murder and revenge and a hanging, while laughing at having to do it.

  • this bloke has the best voice i've ever heeeard - a much missed crooner - should have got himself a better agent - who ever you were his agent - bloody shame on u

  • What's he doing in Brighton?

  • Niby wszystko ma ,prawie jak Tom Jones i Engelbert ,ale prawie robi różnicę.

  • Thought it was Tom JONES' voice. Very alike!!!

  • @clonach1 Tony Christie is from Germany

  • @nightravenonline He's Sheffield born and bred.

  • Przepiękny utwór !!! Pierwsze słyszę o tym Kolesiu ,ale wielki szacunek dla tamtych lat

  • Tres hilar! Love the song but always laugh at TC smiling and dancing to such a dark song - bet Johnny Cash would have done it very differently!

  • His Maria was raped and killed and he is about to be executed, but he is so happy with his twinkle toes gay style attempt at dancing. Drugs are bad, folks. Don't take drugs.

  • It always sounds like he's singing "What I Did From The Rear".

  • for a guy whos about to get hung hhe looks pretty happy!!!!!!

  • Great song! But I doubt that Tony Christie would even know how to load a .45!?

  • Hey.. Just found this tonight ! Backdrop video is Brighton Pier and up Madeira Drive towards the marina ( the old black rock ) . Only cos i see it every day it struck a chord !! great tune also.

  • What a voice...the UK version of Gary Puckett...

  • thats where pink floyd got the idea for their live video backing screen...................

  • TOP GEAR !

  • I want a pair of those pants, I reckon the chicks would dig 'em

  • @tryandlisten If you do get some , you will need a piece of hose to jam down the front or else a sock will do .

  • @commodore665: Or if you want the David Bowie in Labyrinth style package, just shove a baked potato down your trousers.

  • @PooPoo2U I hope old Dave let the spud cool down first .

  • @tryandlisten Who needs hose or a sock, I'm all man baby!!!!

    ...actually yeh you're right, I'll need a sock :-S

  • @tryandlisten Stuff the pants, but got a voice like Tony`s and your on to a winner ;)

  • @HilaryMG No see that's where you're wrong - Orange pants like that just scream style - What kind of style I'm not sure, but style nonetheless... o_0

  • Great pop classic from my younger days.

  • I love this song!

  • It used to be my favorite song in High School. It reminds me of my sweet rothers and sisters

  • Climate change at work. A town in the American west inundated by rising flood waters.

  • love tony christie! always has!

    my best to mr christie.

  • your all sick get a life

  • This fellow could belt out a mean tune, but his moves leave a lot to be desired.

  • @BigDon62 Well, that's what it was like several decades ago.. it was a nice song to dance to, though

  • @frox54 So right you are, I've an eclectic taste in music & if it sticks in the mind than I don't mind it. ♫♪♫

  • Wow! I thought this song was hilarious in sound only, but watching this visual presentation, I damn near went to the lavatory in my trousers with laughter!

  • sounds like Tom Jones,!

  • But he don't look like a guy who'll take revenge for Maria with those shaking hips LoL

  • This song gives me Goose Bumps

  • EXTRAORDINARIO ESTE TONY CHRISTIE, Y CASI TODAS SUS CANCIONES, GRACIAS A LA PERSONA QUE SUBE ESTOS VIDEOS, TAN MARAVILLOSOS.

  • Little know fact: Maria was actually a toothless transvestite hooker...who ripped off her last John, hence he clipped Maria..sad but true folks.

  • @SPOOKSTR S P O O K S T R, You just ruined it for me. And I thought this was such a romantic song. Gawwwly! Well, I guess that's what happens when you rip of your clients. Hookers, beware.

  • what the fuck happened to her?

  • @lioneldamage She was raped and murdered and raped i think.

  • he is fuckin' happy the bitch is gone

  • KHIMERA609 I`m very pleased that you responed to( geoffdoor ) in such a civil manner. For you are the one with class,i read your comment, and find no reason for anyone to think anything other than it was a spoof of the video. Please don`t it ruin you day i`m sure there are others that agree with me.

  • Looks like he is going to play a round of golf with Rodney Dangerfield

  • I think he should iron his shirt first before appearing on the show ...

  • thnaks for this post

  • so morbid dancing and prancing 4 da death of ur wife, and smiling 2 just kidding luv da tune

  • So much for the death penalty.

  • You don't see Tom Jones this happy about Delilah's death.

I am just kidding I love this song.

  • @KHIMERA609 tom jones has been ill and is going to die well done you insensitive cunt

  • @geoffdoor Well I might have been an "insensitive cunt" if i had actually knew about this fact. But even so my comment is about the fact that Tony Christie is dancing and smiling when he is singing about the death of his wife. There was nothing offensive in my comment. It was just a joke about this video (not the song). I am sure that calling me an "insensitive cunt" made you feel like a champion of justice. I bet you really felt good about yourself putting an "insensitive cunt" in his place.TY

  • @KHIMERA609 look its not your fault your a fucking boring cunt maybe your wife should have told you years ago but yes i did what i did for maria

  • @geoffdoor you know what? you're right. thanks for letting me know.

  • Great, great song sung superbly by Tony. If I'd been the producer of this video I would have had him dressed like a gunslinger with a touch of Clint Eastwood and a touch of Tombstone and not bloomin' Brighton! Also sung by the great Marty Robbins, but this is the best version .

  • why on earth is Brighton used for the backdrop?

  • @mericet39 it was the 70s man

  • Shes singing about his dead wife, yet hes all joly and jumping around :L

  • cause i did what i did on the peer :)

  • @sard37 Or even the pier LOL

  • Poor Tony, first he dreams of his Maria in Amarillo and then she gets killed and he is looking for revenge.

But perhaps in death they can stay together forever!

  • @adlerauge001 ...nice thought ,but it was Marie not Maria

  • @adlerauge001

That was a different bird ; that was Marie, very possibly the Marie who ran away from Cliff Richard.

  • I love this song, and I want that guys jeans, now thats a fuckin cool look

  • Whenever i listen to this song i picture it in the old western times ^_^ like a showdown in the old town ^_^ such an AWESOME tune :D

  • Magic! gotta love the "For they knew that I'd come with my hand on my gun" line... Awesome tune

  • think it was like the top of the pops when they got jackie wilson said by dexy,s mixed up with jockie wilson, they thought he was gonna sing about my Pier!!!!!lol sorry great tune, ive performed it before

  • O people didn't do it for Maria.

  • You'd think they'd have put some footage of a Western town behind him, instead of Brighton pier...

  • I'm diggin your pants Tony. He did what he did for maria. For they knew that he'd come, with his hand on his gun. Maria's one lucky chick.

  • Remains a great song !

  • I was 12 when I 1st heard this song in '73 on Radio 2 breakfast show, it was 1st day

back at school after Easter break & I hadn't done my homework! They caned you in those days. This song really freaked me out then! love it now.

  • This is the first song I got to know from Tony Christie, when I was a child, I liked it, and he seemed to become the successor of Tom Jones at that time

    Thank you.

  • great song

  • Is it me or did Tony Christie look completely different from year to year. Maybe this was a good idea....

  • Great song, great voice, great memories when i was a kid... and great comedy performance! Is this guy knows what is talking about?! ...(Hope not)

By the way, i like Ghandi too: "An eye for an eye, and the world become blind..."

  • What's the backdrop os a seaside pier got to do with blowing away the guy who killed your wife old-western styles? :) Great song :)

  • First record I ever bought with my own pocket money. I remember it being a cowboy style film clip accompanying the song. Great!

  • id do the same if i were in that position

  • i like it over here we have john farnham at least tony hasnt been in jail.....for tax fraud anfd another comeback concert.................

  • Sensational song/singer

    Fucking atrocious dancer/dresser

  • What's the Brighton Pier got to do with it?

  • @katoeuro I'm guessing it's one of those 'Seaside Specials' they used to do on the BBC. Sometimes it was from Brighton. Apart from that - no idea...

  • Song is freaking great but seeing the vid ruined it forever dammit.

  • Song is freaking great but seeing the vid ruined it forever dammit.

  • LYRICS and song total are so good!

    I LOVE IT!

but I go to my Lord with no fear

    is the true,God understand him.

  • For a depressing song, he looks pretty happy

  • @737loz who wouldn't be with that attire? haha

  • @737loz i was thinkin the exact same thing!

  • @737loz Was thinking the same - and a little prissy for a gun slinging cowboy

  • @737loz I know right :3

Quoting wikipedia, "While the song is a fatalistic murder ballad, this was not reflected in tone of voice or facial expression."

  • @737loz after 1,2 beers anybody looks haappy singing everything

  • @737loz he looks happy cause he hated his wife and she s dead so he doesn't have to buy her things any more , you fucking cunt
