nice video BUT..4:24, the teacher makes a statement that, " The people were just trying to stay alive, it was there government". That statement means that individuals don't have free will, and that's not true. A government may do items but the citizens don't have to except it and can protest. Due to the lack of free will being expressed in the 1930's &1940s in europe we had World War 2. My Point is, If you disagree with the government or a person you don't have to .. go along with their plan

Yang is positive? Yin is negative? Yang is therefore, GOOOOOOD, so, let me think a minute. Aaaaah? Yin must be ... somewhat baaaaaaaaaaaad. Something must be missing from my understanding because this explanation would imply, the FEMININE half of the Universe is baaaaad which-oh-so-very-clearly-is-not-the-case. But, of course, it balances out because everyone is both male and female just like the Freudians say and all their weird friends.
@robotiqz1 I'm laughing to myself because there was a great little "in" joke in the old cartoon "Avatar" - where a character shown to be more than a little bit of a crazy genius notes,
"Well , there's "positive jing, negative jing ...... and neutral jing" at which point the listener is confused
"I always thought there was just two kinds....."
The genius guy points out "well technically there's 84 kinds of jing but there but let's focus on neutral jing"
jcahweng (you are the one in error): 1. you can not violate the laws of nature - that's why they're called laws of nature! Hence, nothing is unnatural. 2. I have been working with this for years in the work that I do - I discovered this lecture by way of recommendation - her explanation of wu wei is the clearest I've found, and right on track with Taoist teachings.
Wu wei has EVERYTHING to do with softness and grace - ever hear of the Tao Te Ching?
@jcahweng but being graceful does imply "not doing anything that would violate the laws of nature" as you are not going against nature but following its cycle, and thus you are graceful
I had to suspect that this school was located in Cali. The southern region of this country has'nt made it to this frequency yet. No child left behind in the south means make your Quota and keep your job.
thats sooo cool, I whish there would be taoism classes in my country, too!
btw: it's even cooler, that you're not an old granny, and that young people aren't not just interested in stuff like that, but are even able to teach it! =)
work with effort.... doing nothing yet nothing is left undone...

Your understanding of "wuwei" is completely wrong and misleading to the students. Wuwei has nothing to do with soft action or grace.
In essence, wuwei means "following the principles of nature". "Non-action" (wuwei) means "not doing anything that would violate the laws of nature".
