I'm curious as to where the 2 Japan Beast Wars series fit...

In many ways you could think of it as an alternate continuity, and that the events in this universe take place after Beast Wars, and BM never happened.

An alternative is that the events of BWII and Neo take place concurrently with the events with the CGI Beast Wars, since the original BW takes place in the past while BWII and Neo takes place in the future.

That's the way it was SUPPOSED to be. Now, thanks to the input of Benson Yee, who helped in the planning of the Beast Wars comics for IDW, BWII and Neo now take place BEFORE the CGI Beast Wars...which, when you think about it, makes no sense whatsoever.

Remember in the Beast Wars II movie when Lio Convoy summoned Optimus Primal, and tech and spec wise he looked drastically different than he did before the CGI BW.

But I do like how IDW acknowledges BWII and Neo in the continuity

They had to do that because, apparently, they were uninterested in doing a series based around the show cast, and there was a limited amount of talent to pull from in order to tell their story.

That's why I just disavow it and stick with it was during the time of the original Beast Wars, since BWII and Neo are in the future.

@DarthBombshell Agreed. Considering what you had said about how Takara-Tomy had Beast Wars II and Neo set in the future while Optimus Primal's crew were in the past. I wonder what Ben Yee was THINKING when he thought of making II and Neo BEFORE the first Beast Wars...

@DarthBombshell actually if you think about it in a different way it makes perfect sense. You could say that the crews from II and Neo made their voyage to earth before Primal and Meg's did but their actual battle took place in the past.
