According to Hit Tracker, the furthest ball mantle hit was about 503 ft. A total bomb by any stretch of the imagination, but these rumors of 600 ft home runs are just rediculous and false.
@JHAM3232 How does Hit tracker know how far a ball went they were not there reminds me of a book some guy wrote talking about mickey's home run off the roof at yankee stadium that was still on its way up and the guy says it was just peoples imagination idiot.....
he was amazing he hit the farthest homerun ever that was 660 feet in old Yankee stadium. also Ted Williams (the best hitter of all time) hit the farthest homerun in Fenway park which was 614 feet. he proved you didn't need to win any titles to best a good player.
@TooMuchTes If I remember correctly what I read as a kid decades ago Mickey hit that 565 foot home run in the old Washington Senators stadium and that it clipped the corner of the scoreboard and still managed to go that distance.
55 years old here and I remember sitting front of an old black and white television maybe when I was in Third grade or so? The point is while I was watching this one game Mickey Mantle stepped up to the plate and hit a Grand Slam! The croed went wild! It was later conveted to me that this Grand Slam I witnessed live as a child was the Micks LAST one! Does anyone know what game it was and year that this event occurred? Thank you.
Was this clip taken from the 1966 season? I vividly recall that Mantle had one really hot streak in 66 where for about 2 weeks he was the old Mantle again. Unfortunately, this was really his last moment of glory during his career. He finished 66 with 23 homers, 56 RBI's and a .288 average. The Yankees plunged to the basement as well.
Thanks for the great upload. I was at an old-timers day in 1966 that also included a double-header with the Yanks playing at home against the Minnesota Twins with Killebrew and Tony Oliva. That day the Mick came up and hit a grand slam which was followed by a back to back homerun by Tom Tresh. That was an amazing day I'll never forget. Thanks for the reminder and for a chance to see Mick hit one again!
@keagleman21 Yes the Yanks flushed the Twins back to Minnesota again tonight! Marcus Thames hit one out this time. If I remeber correctly the Yanks finished last in 1966.
@keagleman21 doubt it, this looks like ebbets field, where the dodgers played...of I'm right this is probably a World Series Games sometime during the 50s
@downtownford You might be right. I had thought it looked like old Tiger Stadium to me.
I didn't think this was the game I saw either in 1966. That was at Yankee stadium. It just reminded me of that great day. TheTweeter53 was right about Mick's last great hurrah during that hot streak in 1966. The double-header I saw was all part of that. What was great was after Mick hit his grand slam, Tom Tresh came and hit one out too!
@keagleman21 Speaking of Old Timers Day, I remember when my father took me to my first Old Timers Day at Yankee Stadium, in August of 1973. During the old Timers Game, Mickey Mantle batted against Whitey Ford and hit a homerun to leftfield. Thanks to my father, I saw Mickey Mantle hit a homerun in person, even if it was during an Old Timers Game.
That was game 5 of the1953 World Series.

@TooMuchTes I don't think anyone ever hit a baseball 660 feet, which would be out of Yankee Stadium by about a mile.

@deepcosmiclove it was 565 ft

@downtownford The bunting indicates world series play and it is Ebbets Field, surely in the 1950's.
