@7514328 Its a shame that Eisenhower was neither. Monty was the master of the set piece battle "an efficient little sh*t" in the words of one of his subordinate commanders, but in no way suited to fast moving pursuits. Ike should have know that and taken the appropriate measures. He played golf instead. Rommel, by the way, was the polar opposite. His formidable reputation gained only by recklessness against incompetent enemies.
@7514328 If Eisenhower noted that Montgomery needed a "strong immediate commander" then he singularly failed to provide it. While Montgomery like Eisenhower as a person and thought he was very good at political stuff he had absolutely no respect for Eisenhower as a soldier or General. He treated Eisenhower like a naughty school boy, not like a commander to be obeyed and respected. The only man Monty respected enought to obey without question was Field Marshal Alanbrooke.

I wish Rommel had equal supplies as much as Monty did in El-Alamein.Then would love to see what Monty could do.Patton said once to Rommel:"S.O.B I read your book" Rommel rules!
I like your video clip and have rated it as awesome. Please check out mine on some old trading cards of famous people: Field Marshal Montgomery, Lord Baden-Powell of the scout movement, Winston Churchill, Louis Armstrong, Charlie Chaplin, Yuri Gagarin, Walt Disney....
