I got a neewer trigger kit - 1 transmitter and 4 receivers for $ 22... i dont see any advantages with this one... are there any other than the build for the diferrence of 80 bucks?
Not all triggers are created equal. Frequency, range, max sync speed, durability, reliability, ease of use, number of channels, shoot time, and specialized functions are what can vary from model to model. Unfortunately Mark didn't dive into any of these items. I am wondering if it is because of his relationship to pocket wizard (pro-level wireless flash triggers). Those things are $170 (for one). Some perspective would help people better understand the price.
@kaisar1 It really depends of your needs...Like me ..an amateur, i don't need Pocket Wizard. I've got 4 triggers Yongnuo YN-602 for the past 2 years and didn't get any problems. :)
@kaisar1 It is when “a brilliant instructor and photographer like Mark starts selling $100 photography equipment” that photographers like me will begin to have confidence in the less expensive equipment that is reliable and suitable for our needs. I learned this lesson more than two years ago but before that I was skeptical of the lesser known brands. Mark I hope you sell a million of them.
@kaisar1 Oh please. When Mark reviews high-end gear, people complain that it's too expensive. Now you're complaining because he's reviewing something affordable? Goes to show you can't please everyone. I can't wait to order my X remote trigger!
@bwworld you missed it again. lol all i was saying that adorama need to hire a person who exclusively sells/promotes these products for the company online. Price wasnt an issue for me. Mark though should stick to his brilliant tutorials and lessons.
i LOVE THE PRESENTATION OF BASIC 'INTRODUCTORY' GEAR. aS USUAL THE PRESENTATION IS TOP NOTCH. (sorry for caps) I thin you are a real 'asset' to Adorama. I do not think twice if I get the money I'd buy from then all of my stuff...regards to both....O
@nesargent: That's perfectly normal. The flash probably did fire if you were watching it with your own eyes, but somewhere between the 30fps of the video camera. So you couldn't see it in the video.
Think your flash batteries might be dead because either the flash didn't get the signal or the flash hadn't recycled yet because it didn't fire the second time around on the Polaroid.
At what kind of distances will these work? Except for being fully Manual (which I don't mind) these are agreat alternative to the more expensive PW's.
Oops ,I meant one transmiter and one receiver.

I missed if Mark said these were transceivers or one transmiter and one tranceiver.

@JanieHochkins £15 in the US is about $30-35, I believe? Anyway, Greetings From Chicago, IL, USA

@JanieHochkins Seriously? Go price out Pocket Wizards....these are wicked cheap in comparison. You get what you pay for.

Why not get the Yongnuo YN-603? They are cheaper ($40 per two) and they're much better.
OR, why not go for the Pixel King, which also works with ETTL (and also HSS if I remember correctly) for $150?
Sorry, I just don't see the point in getting a simple flash trigger for $100.
