  • I'm not a fan of her top but otherwise, beautiful. :)

  • listen to the voice! flawless

  • @plinkymist You mean, two beers on an empty stomach, warm massage with some type of ointment (not that I've had that), & relaxing in an easy chair with this song playing? - Yeah, that equals beyond flawless - almost heaven! Karen is mental message, the velvet voice to extricate one from this chaotic world we call life. (Did I mention that in the proverbial question, "how is the rat race going?" - that the rats are winning?)

  • Karen looks very nice here; very beautiful.

  • 8 Track Flash Back was a wonderful VH1 show in the mid to late 1990's... It had various hosts, the first of which was David Cassidy.

  • This video was uploaded 4 years earlier than the VEVO 'official video' and has 7 times the view count. It has the most comments, does not have dorky advertising - this is the official video of this song, and yet, I cannot find it in Youtube search engine not matter how I filter the results. Youtube says Vevo video with 90K views is the most watched. I have to use google search to find this video on Youtube! Youtube's own search results is a liar

  • I don't think various shows" kept taking the drums from Karen" - it was more of a conscious decision by by Richard, as he realized she was the vice/star. An agreement was supposedly made where she would front the band on ballads, and she would still play drums on more upbeat songs In later years, she almost never (unfortunately) played the drums.

  • I hated the way the producers of the various television shows, kept taking away Karen's drums, and having a studio drummer play them for her.

Thanks for posting. Enjoyed the video, despite my complaints about television producers.

  • @richardmumolo Meant to say "voice", not "vice", Sorry!

  • Such a pure, sweet voice! I miss those days and honest, heartfelt music!

  • @TheVirtueOfBeauty i love to

  • I've been so infatuated with Karen the past 4 days I've listened to her incessantly. I think it began a few days before Christmas with "Merry Christmas, Darling". It's really got to stop. I haven't started skipping meals, but I've got to put this to an end.

  • @Yepprd I know what you mean, I've done the same, but "I haven't started skipping meals" was probably not the best choice of words. I'm just sayin'.

  • So beautiful...

  • いい歌ですね♪

  • One of the best songs ever! I Loved her soo much!!

  • The greatest singer in pop music with the greatest songs...The Carpenters will live forever

  • Do you think she could ever imagine how much she would still be loved 40+ years later!

  • I love how she sinks into her own voice and it just sounds so relaxed and easy no matter what she is singing. It just makes it impossible to not to love.

  • @sto41354 BIENVENIDA SEA LA BUENA MUSICA!!!!!

  • now this is the good kind of music

  • I have to say Karen Carpentars voice is one of the best Female voices of all time it is so sad the world lost her so young.

    love this video

  • @irishmike39 There is only one more instantly recognizable female voice, and that would be Patsy Cline. The music world truly lost an angel when Karen passed away.

  • Love everything she's ever sung - Such a beautiful voice. Thanks for posting!

  • Amen, Kenny

  • @lizgooner Trash

  • For the forth ( or fifth) time: What did one border collie say to the other? "Can't we stop herding each other?"

  • ga ga or anyone else cant even hold a candle to karen

  • thank you for posting this video I think Karen has the best female voice ever heard

  • Thank You so much for posting this. She Sounded just as good live as she did in a studio cant say that for most of the american idol , voice, and X Factor people some are good some are amazing i just feel for all the good artist that scratched their way up . then have a slew of people get it handed to them most are not heard from after their first year or two.... hating on the reality shows these days

  • really? REALLY? must i comment on how amazing and wonderful this voice is. OMG OMG. OMG. so freak'n AMAZING ! SO BEAUTIFUL ! SO PERFECT. enough said.

  • What ever happened to 8 Track flashback? That was a great show!! Granted the new decade of the 00's brought along some fine new series, and features... yet why give up on, or forget, the strengths of the past?

  • Richard was really a master of orchestration, I think. His strength.

  • She was so incredibly talented and sexy... wish she could've seen it for herself :/

  • @theDeckisStacked no hehe. sorry:) i'm not Irish:) but i've loved Celtic music for 13 years now. the Carpenters though have been in my favorite collection for many years as well cuz i grew up on them!:D

  • We were blessed to have her voice sing her brother's music. A bit of heaven on earth.

  • @theDeckisStacked omg!!:bb lol!XD

  • Well put.

  • She was such a talent & what a great voice... She truely is missed...

  • Incredible.

  • Dear Karen,

I love the way you emote with abandon the words, "why do we go on, hurting each other." There is an animal grace to your movement and facial expression that belies honesty in your singing as in your other songs.

Whenever I want to see pure honesty, I watch this video.

    Love,

    Greg

  • Karen Carpenter ...la plus belle , la plus sympa " , golden voice "....

  • One of their best.

  • one of the classis's of all times.

  • @KennysRadLife this was for the 19 dislikers!

  • @KennysRadLife maybe the blood in their veins are the devils?

  • @2eyejoe2 Hey Joe! Your an idiot.

What a stupid thing to post.

    Asshole!

  • @KennysRadLife Sadly many aren't happy unless they are hating. Hate is cancer of the heart, seek help soon - it is always fatal unless stopped.

  • My mother played Carpenters records (A&M Records) for me when I was a small child. I always loved Karen and her voice gives me chills even now.

  • I love her also I have been listening to her all the time

    !

  • most definately! Much credit goes to Richard. So much talent there!

  • this is a voice from God such talent here

  • fantastic song

    i could love only you!

love the words to this beautiful song

  • Karen was incredible, but let's give Richard his due for his exquisite arrangements and choice of material, which so perfectly complemented her magnificent instrument.

  • @pianobillf

You can't really separate the two. After all they were siblings. That's what makes them very unique and equal to other legendary music collaborations like Lennon/McCartney, Jagger/Richards, John/Taupin, Hall & Oates and Simon & Garfunkel

  • @Purple1984Rain You're right about that. I was just giving credit to the other half of the duo who tends to be overshadowed by her.

  • @pianobillf

I agree. Karen was incredible and brought the songs to life with her magical, one of a kind voice but Richard definitely deserves more credit than he gets. He was so much more than just the piano player. He composed, arranged and wrote/co-wrote quite a few of the groups hits. He was also great at taking good songs and making them great with his incredibly arrangements. Richard is a genius to me, I think he's supremely talented, as is Karen of course. Great duo. LOVE THEM!

  • it is sad she wan't around anymore :( .. I certainly hope at least her voice is reincarnated..

  • sweet voices, so soft and make you world so colourfull....

  • Love You Karen! Voice of an Angel in Heaven and on earth!

  • why is it that the best people always die too early!?

  • I was 12 when this came out, loved it so much, didn't know love yet of course but loved her voice and beautiful songs. Making me very melancholy right now......

  • I miss Karen! - Has anyone got an old Fender Rhodes spare btw?

  • @1RealityBroadcasting Keep your racist rants to yourself. I grew up in pretty shitty conditions too, so it's not just 'modern liberal suburbanites' who have progressive views. But yeah, you're right abt LA being a mess in those days, but until we forgive and forget, there's no hope of moving forward.

  • It seems as though the truly talented arent here for long, jus long enough to change the world a little. Too bad she couldnt see herself as we saw her.

  • OK so DrFeelRotten said the funniest thing I've heard in months. And I'm a stand-up comic. But my point is, ya gotta love the crooners. I loves me some Godsmack and Metallica and such. But one must leave space on the shelf for the Karens and Neils and Franks. Look you can even hate a Manilow tune, but you gotta admit that the boy can sing. Karen was my first crush. C'mon she sounds like a goddess, she's cute, and she plays drums! The world is a diminished place without her.

  • Singing in heaven's choir, somewhere up near the front. Like her or not, whatever your opinion is about her, that voice immediately stands out as soon as she hits her first note. Completely under-appreciated, but the industry captured enough of her recordings so that 40 years later we can compare her to other singers, other generations of sound. She definitely marks a fine era in music though, a little soft for that time, softer even now considering the backdrop of today's muzak.

  • @thewesternarc I Agree.... My opinion is Karen Carpenter has the most perfect voice of all time. She was even described by a University Professor as having the most perfect pitch and sang every song with perfection so much he went on to say he has never heard anything like it since and didn't think he ever would again. I adore Karen Carpenter and what her and her brother were able to accomplish.

  • @kentucky42420

That was one smart proffessor and he was 100% correct in his assessement! :)))

  • @Purple1984Rain I looked for a video of this man and was going to link to it from this thread but I had no luck on finding it. It was some kind of singing, or voice study, but his research always came back to Karen.

  • @1RealityBroadcasting Knuckle-drag your way back to your cave, Neanderthal. The world belongs to people who use their brains, now

  • @1RealityBroadcasting You are a coward who can't even deliver an empty online threat without making it a hypothetical. You lived in fear of drive-bys that never happened, and instead of realizing it was all a media lie, you sucked up to the Man and became his mouthpiece. There is no need to analyze; you are transparent, and your arguments are a carbon copy of every other Retard state foo

  • gosh she was so thin.....

  • @1RealityBroadcasting We like this music too. Not in the same way, I suppose

Talk about damning with faint praise. Your comment lacks focus and is ultimately illogical. This music is great because it is better than the hordes of (racist epithets) that in your imagination commit crimes and overpopulation and get away with it?

So is, I dunno, grass growing through cracks in the pavement, or just about anything that doesn't overtly and unequivocally suck

  • The most beautiful lady with the most beautiful voice - shame she hurt herself so much :'( RIP Karen xxx

  • lovley love it peace the best

  • one of my best

  • The only way I can describe this song is by calling it "hauntingly beautiful." RIP, Karen.

  • I prefer harder rock as a rule...But my God that woman could sing like no other.

  • You really hurt me by leaving this world way too soon, your my inspiration Karen, one day we all be together again........

  • wat a voice

  • Karen Rocks!

  • Her voice.....mmmmmmmmm heaven sent. I come back to listen to you and I was sadly too young to remember you when you were alive. Through your music you will live forever. RIP KC.

  • Without ever knowing why...

  • I wounder if she was told she hurts us when she won,t eat.If then she,d try more.RIP dear .

  • WHAT A VOICE,,SHE WAS A BLESSING TO LISTEN TO

  • It doesn't make any sense why there's 18 dislikes. If couldn't tell by some of the outfits she was wearing in her later years,it just breaks my heart to see her so thin. Its almost like she is struggling to sing every note, does anyone see what I see?

  • Thanks to the "Metal Heads" as you call yourselves for loving Karen! You are aweseome! She was a joy to behold, without a doubt. Imagine being Karen's brother, Richard, and losing his sister and music partner.....that thought alone is enough to make a person cry. I remember the day she died, and it was devastating -- and I was a fan....but poor Richard --- what would that have been like for him. :-(

  • Karen rocks!

  • if she doesn't make you cry with this song,,you have no class !!!.

  • I love the carpenters, karen had the voice and her brother was a great arranger and taiented musically.

  • she can make me cry with that voice as well. she could melt a glacier with the warmth of that voice. extraordinary !!!

  • And to think she was originally a drummer.

  • metal head here as well , but she can make me cry

  • Yeah...I agree with Skatar...what a very Pretty Voice! And I'm a Metal Head too. :)

  • I love this song and I could watch her sing this all day long..She had an amazing voice. georgiapeach218..

  • i'm a Celtic Irish gal myself, but my GOD, i could NEVER turn my back on this!!!:D R.I. Eternal Peace Karen, you are still so loved and missed more than you'll ever know.

  • @heaven281

  • ....angelic voice if i were to imagine one.

  • @smpryde1 amen

  • Karen Carpenter was a beautiful person with a best voice. Her wusic was awesome. She will always be a classic. No current singer could ever could light a candle next to her. Im glad I grew up in the 70s.

  • Poor Karen with the beautiful voice, constantly, constantly berated by a jealous brother who had not one 90th of the talent or passion she had. God bless you Karen and message to Lucifer...give the "meth head" Richard the darkest room down the darkest fiery furnace of hell.

  • I don't know who has the purest singing voice; Karen Carpenter, Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand, or KD Lang

  • I think that Karen Carpenter wins hands down in being THE greatest female voice ever in the history of mankind. she is the standard by which I judge all other female voices

  • i mean shes great i dont care what kind of music your into, great is great

  • this hurting wach other applies to all the world . great song!!

  • brings tears to my eyes....so beautiful....

  • It seems that my family has always been good at hurting each other--especially me! If not for faith in God, I would have given up a long, long time ago! Peace and Love, BobbyK

  • pure suicide are the carpenters, nothing like it..you have to be tortured to feel this.

  • 19 People couldn't stop hurting each other.

  • How can anyone NOT like Karen Carpenter's voice unless of course you're completely tone deaf and dumber than snow tires on a gold fish..?

  • This music is so beautiful, music brings it all back in seconds.
