i was a big groupie from 85 to 89 while i was at the university of alabama in tuscaloosa. this band was so cool to dance to, listen to, hang out with, and, um....more! thanks for the memories and great songs. rock on!
this should have been a top 10 hit! it has a Beatle sound to it.these guys were robbed by Portrait records! they never helped them, or promoted them properly. they were "the greatest pop band that never was!" saw them play about 10 times. DK (San Antonio, TX)
This brings back memories! I had this on vinyl back in junior high. Spent many hours listening to the LP on my H.H. Scott tube amp. Great harmonies and superb bridge on this one.
Great song! I actually had the rare privedge of "warming up" for these guys, my band and I, way way back in about '86 in Denton, TX! They were really cool about it! My girlfriend and I danced the whole night to live Producers! They were awesome!!! And they were really easy going, very affable, VERY friendly, and easy to talk with! Does anybody know where the studio version of "Break Away" is on Utube (my favorite song!) I don't have access to that. What an amazing band!!!! Cheers! -Kirk
Great story, Kirk. They probably remembered once being in the same position that your band was in that night. Nice to see they stay grounded and maintained such a friendly attitude! : )
I saw them for the first time when I was U.N.T. [then N.T.S.U.] back in '82. We went to Dallas and Wayne fell off the stage on a little friend of ours, Mona, and she became great friends with them [they visited her when they played Lubbock, which was where she was from]. I've seen them 9 times live. They have always been my favorite band...Van Temple is SUCH an incredible singer!
Loved these guys in college. They were big in Gainesville but HUGE in Tallahassee. I still have their first two albums. Now my kids, ages 4 and 6, love them, too!
I used to tour the same curcit as these guys in the early 80's and used to see them from time to time at the Other Place in Daytona Bch. Wayne was always a nut on and off the stage.
Hi, this is Richie. I run The Producers' myspace page. A longtime friend of the band gave me this and the other videos. I got permission from the band to put these up. The band still plays from time to time. For more, go to myspace and type in the browser heartheproducers. Don't forget to change the browser from WEB to MYSPACE.
Thanks for the info theproducersband. Wished they toured Texas. I simpply love these guys and the music they play. I am a product of the 80's through and through (now 43 yrs old)
and fell in love with their music when I first saw the "whats he got" video. I live in the San Antonio area and don't ever recall them touring here. Anyhow, thanks for the info again. My daughters also love their music. I got them on vinyl and cassette and cherish the music and most importantly the great memories. :-)
Thanks for posting this song - I completely forgot about this until now. This is a great song and brings back lots of memories. Kyle Henderson is soooo cute!!
These guys were played heavily for a short period on MTV, in fact, they played the first MTV New Years Ball ever...Flock of Seagulls were the headliner!
Sheesh, VH-1 should have a 'Bands Reunited' on these guys
It's flat out criminal that this band did not find a wider audience. They are among my biggest musical influences and easily fall into my top 10 list for favorite all time pop bands.
Great stuff Richie! How can get more from iTunes or somewhere?

I have been looking for a CD of this group, all I have are the tapes and records. Any direction? Still love these songs 30 years later.

Just saw Kyle Henderson's Blue Eyed Soul yesterday at the Atwood Fest here in Madison, Wi! Kyle's son Ted played bass.

Know what the hardest part of being in a band like the Producers is? Letting on to the world that you are extreemly gay.

Love, Love, LOVE this band!! The harmonies, the lyrics, just the music in general is the best!!! It was my favorite running music in college.

I think this band was produced by Tom Werman, which explains why they sound so much like Cheap Trick. Not that there's anything wrong with that!
