  • Steve Hackett is for me one of the best guitarists in the world. Point.

  • he looks a bit like the "boss"

oh..can he play that guitar ! oh yea.

  • harmonic and melodic sense ! great !

  • Tremendo, impresionante. De donde es este material?? Esta disponible en DVD? Saludos desde Cordoba, ARG. LeA

  • мой любимейший игрок гитары всего времени, абсолютной завершенности!

  • one of my favorite leads of all time

  • this song does not convey any related themes, its a bloody good sond, steve hackett has always written great songs, more when he was with genesis. these songs were written at a time when it was all guitar playing and fun.

  • Brillant good live version steve hackett to the rescue, who needs genesis.....anybody know how i can download this..lennie@cookman.orangehome.co.uk thanks.

  • Brillant good live version steve hackett to the rescue, who needs genesis.....

  • Absolutely terrific. Never heard something more important to my ears. Those fingers running like children on a stairs are definitely the reason why a guitar has been invented.

  • Fantastic solo !

  • 3:-14 - 3:21 EARGASM

  • haha the only person i've ever seen play Moog Taurus with their hands

  • One of my favorite Hackett songs! I love this performance, too.

  • One of the most overlooked guitarists to date.

    Awesome talent!!!!

  • What a beautiful Gibson Lespaul

  • What an odd looking lot the musicians are LOL. Zorro on bass lol.

  • @georgeman2468 - That's the British for you!

  • the instrumental part is awesome

  • Stunning solo and performance.

  • Wow! Where the heck is this from? Great live version.

  • @petecellar - This is available on the CD release titled "Time Lapse." It was released in 1992. It was recorded in England and New York, each with different crews, Steve and John Hackett being the only common players. If you think this one was good, check out "Ace Of Wands" and "Jacuzzi" and be amazed. By the way, this was recorded in England.

  • Great performance ! One of the most underated players out there

  • EXCELLENT.

  • Clint Eastwood is so good on guitar

  • Haha at last someone else sees the similarity! Whenever I point it out to someone they only partly agree... even then I think it's just to shut me up!

Saw this song played live last saturday at Shepherd's Bush and it was one of my favourites. Very underrated guitarist indeed.

  • Yeah, he should be way bigger than he is.

  • oh yeah so funny. He does look like Clint

  • @davemakesawave Haha, good one!

  • @davemakesawave

Nah that's James Garner from his maverick days filling in for Steve.

  • @davemakesawave

he does remind me of clint eastwood too!

  • Great Video! Thank you Knightmidnight. Always loved this song and feel happy and sad when I hear it. Having lost dear friends to Cleopatra's needle. Love Steve!!!

  • wth is this an anti drug song??? ololol

  • I swear no one else can play like steve...

  • steve... thanks for the masterclass fingering... marvelous!

  • Excellent perfomance!! Steve can make his guitar weep like no one else can!! WONDERFUL!!!!

  • awesome!

  • My favourite bit is at 3:35. This gives me shivers down my spine.

  • I love it.

  • definitely my favorite hackett lead at 4:54 mark

  • Great!

  • What a performance! Excellent!

  • magical and mistery sound,I love this man.

  • Wish they had done the double climax on the studio recording!! I always wondered why he never returned to that climax on the studio version? the ending always leaves me wanting it to come back! Love these live versions, anyone have a good CD recommendation of a live Hackett?

  • Steve is amzazing as always, this song is his best without a shadow of a doubt.

  • The drummer doesn't swing.

  • It was nice to see Hackett get some solo success after all the great work he did in Genesis.

Funny, listening to this again after all these years, IMO his solo sound was a little closer to Camel than Genesis...

  • After the original Genesis line up split, it was Hackett's work that I liked the most. With Phil, Tony and Paul, the music was getting less interesting with post-1980s Genesis and with Peter Gabriel; he was going to too far with his creativity to the point that it wasn't very enjoyable. Whereas with Steve Hackett, it was just the melodic contents that shone with his solo work.

  • you are right on the mark!

  • Fingers of magic.

  • the best live version I have heard of this, there is an 80's one on here that is terrible, really slow...

  • Agreed :)

  • I get the feeling these guys could bore for England...

  • not a bit. not me anyhow.

  • ...and God took a guitar

    in his hands...

  • This one of my favorite Hackett tunes (after Firth). What an amazing combination of outrageous tones and riffs. This song is like a drug to me.

  • Sorry, but can someone tell me what instrument that is at 5:30?

  • That instrument is a Bass Pedal. Its name is "Moog Taurus" and it was used to make deep bass sounds in several songs. This one was also used by many progressive bands like Genesis, Rush, Crimsom in lates 70's.

  • Genesis and Rush, ok, but y would you call KC progressive?? And btw, bass pedal was widely used at the time, and i dont think it had anything to do with beeing progressive or regressive, just a feature of times.

Still used live, with great effect, as it shakes walls as well as audience :D

  • OK guys it's a SYNTHESIZER with an interface you trigger with your feet, ideally - Steve's bands seem to enjoy using their hands, for some reason, missing the point that it frees your hands to play with other bits. Traditionally only Prog bands employed that complexity, progresman - maybe it's enjoyed wider use now but I'd doubt it with MIDI and overall laziness. (And what else would you call Crimson but PROG?)

I have the Moog Taurus II (extended foot pads, controls on a remote base), cool.

  • the odd thing about the moog taurus of course is that its a bass PEDAL so its supposed to be played by foot. interesting that he decided to play by hand. moog also made a synth called PRODIGY, where incidentally The Prodigy got thier name! as it was the first synth they could afford.

  • tHIS LIVE VERSION IS AS GOOD AS THE RECORDED ALBUM- MOST EXCELLENT- WE LOVE IT

  • From the beautiful Spectral Mornings album. It is a must for your collection.

Del hermoso album Spectral Mornings toda una obra maestra....
