@cheezebs Yes. A lot of different places were on fire. I'm sure that some of the fire alarms were going off just because they mistook all the debris and such for smoke as well.
@jackal27 this looked like it was a nice neighborhood. Those may have also been security alarms as well.As this was the next day, and they had battery backup, likely they were not loud because of weak batteries
@Schwarze999 Well, if you have a basement, you will have the best chance of survival. In this area of the country, they are starting to have safe rooms built into the homes. windowless room with the sturiest of building supplies that can stand up to 200 MPH winds. many old farms had underground storm cellars. Why the homeshere had none is a mystery to me.
you should look up Goderich Ontario Canada it was just destroyed a month ago houses were litterally leveled to the ground...the community is totally destroyed
@lucy9359 Lucy, it happened here as well. This funnel was about a mile wide. In some places, it took 5 minutes for the storm to pass,as it traveled at 30MPH. the area in this video was more of the fringe of the storm, or maybe the 2nd vortex, and it was not as large as the main one.
@fredandpj I imagine it will not be rebuilt as is the case here right because of the recession...This community had it's most major employer wiped out and they said they will rebuild in Mexico where it is cheaper....wow the town was offered a lousy $1 million by our liberal provincial government to rebuild...in this area that would be equal to 4 houses...they spend their money to fund gay rights instead! God forbid North America is in serious trouble!
@lucy9359 That company must not listen to the news. A person that I sat with for dinner. told of his husband working there in Juarez. They went out to eat one day, and I guess the drug cartel ordered them out because they were going to have a meeting there. The next day, they found out that the restaurant was burned to the ground. They have taken Foreigners hostage, and usually kill them, and cut off their heads. tell that to them
@fredandpj it is a huge company like GM or that type of thing....the same thing happen with our GM plant here too...our government bailed them out the same time yours did and only 3 months after we bailed them they left and went to Mexico...all the big corporations that shut down stores in your Country have reopened them here as well and they are shutting down ours to open yours...total greed they don't care about anybody else!
@iitzkyle Well, I won't be in town... I now live about an hour away. I was actually moving the day it happened. I did not know Will, but my fiancee had been friends with him since she was a kid.
@c0dYaDaM It's just stuff dude. I am just glad that my family is ok. You pick up the pieces, you trust God, and you move on with your life. How would you expect us to act?
@jackal27 believe me I know A tornado hit my town Apr 15 of this year and it missed our house by a block! And I'm just saying that if your family is safe but if you are like me and don't live close to yours were would you stay it's just coming from my view!
