  • this is a lot better than what you did in Forrest Gump Tom.. @@..

  • My 2 favorite solos are this one, and R30. They both kick!!

  • @akimst13

    Yeah RIP

    DX:HR

  • i think neil was at his best before he started getting tips from Freddie Gruber (rip). of course at that time Neil was quite a bit older, but he seemed to lose some of his fluidity when he got with Freddie. Again, age might be a factor. But Neil is the Master bar none.

  • come on ricky ya know hes gonna do that fackin drum solo!

ting ting bdmbdmbdmbdm ting ting bdmbdmbdmbdm

  • neil is simply the greatest rock and roll drummer, of all time, his solo´s are creative and very well structured..pure genius.

  • Neil said that due to time constraints on the and "tape"...he originally didn't want to put the solo on at all, but Lerxst and Dirk insisted. So, he edited it himself to include only the new parts different from the Power Windows tour solo.

  • Neil's drums for this tour were pink...

  • Its not the complete solo! Why?

  • @EugenCluster it´s all here.

  • Travis Barker, those are called dynamics...

  • The solo is so short compared to what he does now.

  • He can crossover with drumsticks better than I can on skates- And I've played semi-pro. :\

  • The Man is a Stud!

  • @DutchTheFishMan i tried it the cowbell part is adequetly hard, the tom work added us hell, and then that crossover+snare work made my arms combust!

  • I have watched this video atleast a hundred times over the last 3 years and everytime i wish i had a set of cowbells and drum sticks to try and play on them like he can.

  • Damn he's so good. Who is better peart or portnoy

  • @chan12898 Neil Peart :)

  • That man sings with his drums.

  • No looping. No trickery. No machines. Nothing fake here kids. This is just pure talent and fantastic determination all in one take!

  • Alex and Geddy thought he was a geek when he auditioned..Pure god on drums..Thank goodness he hit the triplets and blew them away...Where would they be right now?

  • dislike i mean

  • how could anyone dare to press the unlike button??

  • 2:45 Neil Peart unleashed :)

  • TO ALL DRUMMERS: Learn This Solo Sometime During Your Life!!!

  • Bruford? Bozzio? Moon? Can you say Sync-O-Pay-Shun?!

  • Einstein was wrong. faster then light travel is possible. Neil Peart's arms do it every solo he has.

  • the mad scientist at work

  • Neil is The Best EVER, but I am impressed with the "New Breed" of Death Metal drummers who go full speed at all times. Richard Christy from Iced earth and that Dude from Lamb Of God are 2 that come to mind. Much respect to the new school.

  • I've had an orgasm

  • it sounds like he made a mistake a 2:40 but thats a one in 1000000000000000000000000000000 chance it happens so i still say 2000/5

  • @RootBeerFlavored well rly it was a missed trigger, the hit was there just not the sound

  • GOD OF THE FUCKING DRUMS

  • GR8 DRUMMER

canada must be pleased that they have neil peart

  • Who are the two idiots that disliked???

  • @upstart1234ify John Bonham fanboys most likely

  • Got the "Show of hands" cassette. God I love this track!

  • man......wow....

  • I wouldn't call Neil Peart the best drummer in the world just because to prove that we would need to get everyone on the Earth to play drums for us. However its easy to say he is the best known drummer in the world hands down :)

  • sweet.

  • The keyboard at the beginning sounds like it has acid reflux real bad.

  • the 2 dislikes are tone deaf

  • i hate how they cut out half his solo he goes on for another 5 minutes or so if u listen to his solo on the show of hands cd they have the full thing

  • @pryt86 I hear you there. Glad I have the tape

  • this solo cameos in the middle of YYZ right?

  • @sorahearts325 no, right in "The Rhythm method"

  • 2:16

This was on a 45 inside Modern Drummer, his marimba solo.

16th notes all day long. :<(

  • The only drum solo that got me interested on listening. No other drummers got me that dead interested..

  • Jaw-dropping performance ....

  • I love when he goes insane at around 2:45, all over the place. He's like a mad scientist.

  • our brains can hardly begin to process everything he is doing to those drums!

  • He was actually an underrated, but great songwriter....

  • I like him, and he puts on a great solo show, but....

    1. Buddy Rich (and I'm young!)

    2. John Bonham

    3. Neil Pert

  • @georgemasiello ..

    neil peart....drummer- lirics compositor..

    number one on the multiversed

  • @georgemasiello Sorry, but Bonham is not even in the same galaxy as Peart.

  • he should set his kit up this way again

  • ???...WOW!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Neil Pert makes EVERY other drummer look like an amateur!!!! Nobody plays NEARLY as good!!!!!!

  • Fucking EH!

  • @HeyWakeUpPeople neil-ry as good? ha

  • This is stunning.

Pure precision, utter control, and scintillating rhythm !

  • What Simmons kit is Neil using on his kit?

  • SDS-7/SDS-9. He programmed in some midi samples.

  • Cool thanks. They sound awesome and I wanna make a hybrid kit with a white set.

  • I would recommend avoiding original simmons pads. Neil dumped them because they are like playing concrete, and they were unreliable. It's better to use modern pintech, yamaha, hart dynamics or roland. Even the roland td-3 kit is far more capable and reliable than simmons. I do miss the cool looking red hexagon pads.

  • nasty...

  • Neil's the best! He's not just a drummer....he's a true percussionist!

  • Neil is the Michael Jordan of the drums, there is no better......

  • The best drummer ever!!!!!!

  • Not only does he have amazing fills and plays like a madman all night, like 4/5 of the way through the show he pulls off a drum solo like this!! Not to mention, before playing a show, he locks himself in a room backstage with a practice kit and plays like this for 20-30 min. to warm up!!! This man is beyond words!!!!!

  • Is that man human?

  • This drum solo would destroy chuck norris. Neil Peart is AWESOME!

  • but im a left and a right handed. and i study percussion.and i know tito puente.i am ambidexter

  • oh y forgot king crimson

  • neil peart from rush and bill bruford and jamie miurr from yes they aree my first inspirintion on drum drum! since y was 10 years old

  • how are u still able to move your arms after that? neil peart is the greatest drummer of all time hes got the jazz style but he rocks out like crazy

  • I love how the synths and guitar slowly fade away but Neil still continues with a kick ass beat! Gives me the chills up and down my arms .. greatest drummer of all time .. FACT!

  • This is proof of evolution

  • NEIL IS THE BEST DRUMMER HANDS DOWN

  • @drunkenirish420 i thought this was kevin spacey...

  • @drunkenirish420 u mean u want us to vote down?

  • 2-12-1988 Memphis

    whatta show!

  • he goes into complete beast-mode around 2:44

    neil is fucking amazing!

  • whoever gave me a thumbs down is gay

  • anyone called "emobangs" deserves a thumbs down :P. Kidding, you deserve a thumbs down for saying what you just said

  • true. i have to stop saying that..

  • poop

  • ur awsome neil

  • Neil Peart is the best drummer in the world he is so unique and talented

  • *drops dead*

  • Mostly the same as at the R30 dvd ! neil peart is the best

  • Best ever!!!

  • at like 00:36 Neil starts to feel the beat of his drum solo and starts to get into it.

its so full of win at that part.

actually the whole solo is full of win.

  • I saw Rush with Blue Oyster Cult, at the Charlotte Colosseum, back in 1976 right after they put out "All the World's a Stage".

Between the two bands, there was enough lasers to cut through a battle ship!

They rocked then, and the STILL rock! How many other bands out there have lasted as long as Rush? And I mean lasted, not broke up, and reformed twenty years later!

  • Show off...Lmao jk, one of the best drummers of all time.

  • best drummer in the worlddddd

  • Agreed!

  • nearly as good as carl palmer, Emerson lake & Palmer

  • He's better. End of.

  • with those reflexes bet u he could dodge a rain drop...

  • Neil Peart Pwns noobs 4 breakfast @ drumming : D

  • 0:54 is pure beastliness

  • his crossover was 100% clean.

    it was beastly

  • If Buddy rich and Neil Peart were to engage in a drum battle, Chuck Norris himself would say "You guys rock" Coming from Chick Norris that's saying something!

  • Lolz

  • remember rockfans, all other drummers are but mere students,to the profesor, from americas number 1 rush fan joseywalesm1911

  • this took forever to buffer like 15 minutes and im usin a frikin mac!!! ya but it still is a great vid considering that i can play very well on the drums it inspired my school performance w/ the snare solo but rush is the greatest band ever and i hate rolling stone magazine cuz they dont like rush!! crazy fools!!! love rush may they go on tour again!!!

  • He looks as natural as Buddy Rich did on the drums.

  • Am I the only one who thought of The Flintstones at the end?

  • omg it is the flinstones!!!!

  • Yeh i did too :) what a coincidence eh?

  • f****ng INSANE!!! legendary!

  • Neal Peart is the best drummer ever

  • amen mate!!!

  • indeed thee best drummer in the world

  • it's certainly a much more aggressive style of drumming, i mean, there is hardly a second when he isn't putting every ounce of strength into each note

  • I much prefer the solos from Exit Stage Left on up to this time period.

This latest tour, during the electronic section, the sentiment is somewhat like a child. Not in a good way, but in a silly way. The melody he plays on the vibes is goofy.

  • what, i loved that

  • Yeah, well, I just thought it was goofy.....compared to what he'd done in the past. Not just the mood of the piece, but also the tone of the percussion instruments.

But then, there's no accounting for taste, is there?

    Gotta love Neil.

  • I find the segway from YYZ to this to be hilarious

  • the body electric...

  • only 1860 views? preposterous!

  • well he has improoved over the years and has cooler technology in his 2007-08 solos

  • This is a REAL classic!

  • Awesome! (: Really, incredible.
