Actually, John Cale recorded the arrangement Buckley is known for, and Rufus essentially covered that. Cohen's version is... very... very different, but obviously brilliant because it's the source of the song we love.

Agreed! Listening to him talk is in itself fun, he's got such a great voice (slightly camp, ultra cute) and then his singing voice is completely different. On his old songs ppl complained that he was too 'nasal' but I really don't hear it anymore at all. I'm in love with his voice no matter what he's doing with it...
