Well, if you're refering to the very beginning interview you gotta remember that they are trying to explain things to Japanese people who may not know the language very well. Therefore they have to do it in a more simplistic way, making it sound broken. If you're refering to the bulk of the interview, they may just be tired (Mark's hair looks disheveled). For all we know they did the interview a little after getting of the plane. They still have great things to say. Last line hits it home big!

Then again, so was Confucius, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, or Devo themselves. Please read some books, get outside your own culture, and try to get past the limit of your little sectarian tribe. They talk about how Devo taught their generation to be original and now Polysics must do the same for our generation. But isn't Polysics just doing the exact same thing Devo did? Doesn't it sort of defeat the purpose of originality when the supposedly "original" band is just doing what's been done before?

Optimists are oblivious. Dick Chaney shot someone in the face and it wasnt reported for like 48 hours because he was drunk, then the guy who got shot apologized to vice Dick. Awesome there's hope. Look it up. The FBI admitted to having now evidince linking Bin Ladin to 9/11. Everythings fine.
God I hate this. There are thousands of people who volunteer to go to places like south africa and do good. Civil rights is twice as far as it was 100, even 50 years ago, then some band goes around saying how its going down the sh%thole and everyone praises them as messiahs or something, and "optimists" are all of a sudden labeled as oblivious, or even stupid.
No matter how much you go to Africa, De-Evolution will still be real. You might be able to save a few people, but you can't save the world. And that is the reason that DEVO is still going.

that's bull. They're just men in a band with an immaturely pessamistic view who claim to know more than anyone else. If they're so great why did they rerecord a song for a commercial, when they're supposed to be against commercialism?

2. Bush has been in office for 7 years. What are you doing still being optimistic?
3. DEVO's never been anti-commercialism. They do what's necessary to get their message out/stay relevant.
