  • thats one interesting composition, very nice!

  • i do not know how to play an instrument, but I will fit in just nice playing like that

  • I would say this piece feels more like whimsical wonder rather than horror.

  • I use this shit to shake off my sleepiness.

  • I wouldn't call this strictly contemporary music, I would say it's horror music composed in a contemporary way.

  • I think this is actually really cool piece compared to a lot of contemporary works I see popping up these days.

  • search nicolas and the iceni narrow road to the deep north. they write beautiful contemporary classical music.

  • reminds me when I was first introduced to hard metal rock

  • i thot everyone was playing random notes together, with a conductor =D

  • nobody would notice even i you were playing completely wrong sets of notes;;

  • @Peter0414 if you're only going to concerts to hear wrong/right notes, i feel sorry for you

  • 05:16 reminds me Chopin's Op. 25 No. 12 =D

  • @fisarmonicista omg lol i was thinking the same thing it sounds SOOO similar

  • This sounds like one of those build up songs in scary movies. I LIKE!!!

  • This is the kind of "music" which prevents you from falling asleep while driving.

  • well , it's really funny judgement

the writing this piece is not easy

but it surely can keep drivers awake

  • so crap- a 4 year old could compose this if they wanted to

  • so why do you keep watching avant-garde music videos?

  • @karis89 really? try to listen again, and this time look for the little details. that piece is like a journey of beautiful mixed sounds

  • Truly this is a masterpiece but because most of us aren't used to this new style of music we don't like it. The same thing happened when say for example classical or baroque music was introduced. It just takes time to love it.

Not to mention that it is kind of fun to play.

  • @indians032691

The shift to classical or baroque was hardly perceived the same way as the shift to contemporary, nor are these shifts comparable on a music theoretical point of view.

In my opinion you may listen to this a thousand time, it will still sound ugly like hell.

  • UGH!!! i cant believe i have to listen to 5 pieces of contemporary for school D: my ears are screaming at me saying NO MORE!!!!

  • but fast music with "jumps" and "surprises" is found in metal, jazz, traditional music, etc. too.

contemporary music is more about translating the composers intentions straight ahead, being not limited by some kind of traditional harmony, rhythm, style, etc. (correct me if I am misunderstood)

  • @guitar17johnny

True. But "traditional" may not be the right word. It's the "convention" that considered as limits to human (in this case composer) expression. So contemporary music closely related to current philosophy and understanding of human nature, not just "musical" theory. For example, John Cage Chesspiece (if i'm not mistaken the title) explores the feeling of being boring. The feeling of boring it self is the actual aim of the composition.

  • Unlike Classical music,Contemporary music is so complicated that indeed it is natural for players to play them with a score. But I think, if you really understand the meaning of the music, you can play it without score.

  • This sounds like what ? objects moving of their own accord .Scientific..It's the world we live in at leasat not something trying to be pretty or cute.the c minor etude parody in it fits well. This music takes a lot for its performers. the orchestral writing is pretty astute ,exact.Glad I know this compoer now.

  • ???

  • A voi piace questo genere?

  • mai lasati ierburile deoparte

  • Gervasoni is a genius!!!

    ...masterpiece...

  • magnificent!

  • at 5.20 there is a hommage for chopins 25,12

  • Terrific! Andaloro has a magnificent technique! And this piece is fantastic! It's funnt that Chopin reference...like a moment out of a black-comedy.

  • sei un magnifico musicista anche in questo genere "astratto". l'autore gervasoni, tramite te, diviene certamente interessante, forse di più di altri famosi contemporanei interpretati da famosi pianisti ..
