Wow, .1% of the country, must be pissed as hell, to protest. I mean, if you can get ,1% to do anything, they MUST be right. If I drink .1% of a beer, does mouth get wet?
Limbaugh claims to have 20 mil. people listening, during the week, you'd think that he could get a million to show.
I expected at least a million, but 263,000? watch out, the 263,000 man march is coming. But wait, didn't the mil' man match guys, actually drive to D.C.? Does that mean they cared more?
The issue is the fact that OUR elected officials are not listening to their constituents. Every single one of these "bailout" packages that have come through Congress (Under either Bush or Obama) have been met with very vocal opposition from the American Public. And yet, Congress still passes these bills.
We want our Congress to listen to us again. That is why the Tea Parties are important. It's not a Red vs Blue issue. This affects all Americans. It IS truly "taxation without representation."
How come you republicans wasn't doing any tea parties when Bush was in office. Bailing out banks. You guys waited for Obama to be president to use that as an excuse to talk bad about him. When really you are mad becasue he's black. Racist Fucking Pigs.
The real issue here is not who is in the White House, but the 538 clowns that sit and spend our money in the U.S. Capitol. Yes, the under the Bush administration there was a record deficit, I believe the final tally was around $5 trillion. The current Congress has already exceeded that number, an additional $5.7 Trillion, in only three months and we are just getting started.
You can tell who all the disgruntled McCain supporters are. They are the "angry, hateful" ones. They are the spoiled little brats who are still angry over losing the election and now they are back out to be angry all over again. They all need to grow up and have a rational discussion and protest. Their lack of respect is disgusting.
Welcome to what Conservatives endured throughout the Bush administration. "Angry, Hateful" libs denying that Bush was elected for 8 years. "He's not my President" was the rally cry, I believe. Did we whine and complain about it? NO!!!
I can't help thinking this is a a republican vs democrat thing, than it is an actual, "I care about spending," thing. I don't think these people cared when it was Bush who was doing the spending, but now that a democrat is doing it, all of a sudden they care. No offense, I don't know these people personally, I don't know their intentions. I oppose wasteful spending too. But the fact that tea party protests are occurring now, instead of 4 years ago, I think, lessens their credibility.
Morons! Trickle down ecconomics doesn't work. Supply siders believe in a totality philosophy. It never changes--tax cuts cure all. Problem is, historically it has been proven false!
Protest all you like--it is pointless and misguided.
& the tax will be 10 percent lower than Reagan tax
and you are having these partys against Bush plan not obama look things up people lol they are using you the rich are using you people lol middle class get cuts!! so you middle class folks want a tax is this what these parties are for I am very comfused why would republicans making under 250k want to be taxed i mean obama isnt taxing you i wash my hands with reduds go away please I beg you you are not even trying
Please heed the warnings that there will in fact be a concerted effort to infiltrate and hijack these tea party rallies. Take a bit of advice and please implement some form of security to insure the integrity of these rallies.
Please, dont learn the hard way—your opponents play for keeps.
It will probably break your heart to know that these parties are attracting people from both sides of the aisle, and that the people who formed the Klan were Democrats. Goddamn your so delusional it's pathetic.
How in the hell do you place the klan in the same catagory as what we are doing here? Thats like saying that you should not go to church because hitler went as a youth. TARD!!!
This whole tea party concept is quite ironic and I believe that irony is lost on these protesters. The original tea party was inspired by the call against taxation WITHOUT representation. But these people had their chance on Nov. 4th and they lost. They stated their case through representatives and they were rejected by the country. Quite hilarious actually.
Are the small business men and women going to get bailouts? No. The board members of the large companies are to blame for bad business. Why should the tax payers get stuck with the bill. That money is needed else where. If Obama messes up our econmy, the tax payers will be the first to lose. See ya at the 4/15 in StL.
This is embarrassing. We all took advantage of the greedy "getting what we want -- when we want" era. With that said, if you didn't sell your home(s) at the peak and get out of the housing market, then there is a world of economic pain coming your way. Regardless, that has little to do with Obama, for you enjoyed the ride up, now comes the ride down. You only have YOU to blame if you got caught at the peak. It's called a cycle. For every winner there is a loser. Deal with it.

these must be part of those 23%ers who thought bushie did a good job.
beside believing trickle-down economics will work, they also believe the earth is 6000 years old, snakes talk, and the volcano in alaska is a sign from god...
At the original Boston Tea Party, they dumped shipments of tea that the British were sending from overseas and forcing them to pay tax on. It was a way of saying "We're not gonna take what you're forcing on us", I thought. The people in this video, on the other hand, are pouring their own tea into the river. They bought it with their own money and then dumped it out. We complain that Congress is throwing our money down the drain, but then do basically the same thing!!!! Arghhh.
Again, that is the misinformed right wing nuts proving their ignorance. Look around those tea parties and you'll see NRA nuts, the anti abortion crowd and various other people upset that they lost. We need to remind them to grow up and act like adults.
I believe in the things these people believe in, but this "protest" doesn't do much for me except make me embarrassed. I just see a bunch of people standing around at the riverfront yelling "WE'VE HAD ENOUGH" for ten seconds (starts at :35 in this video). Who heard this? I don't even see any local press in this video. If they really want to send a message, at the very least they should wait until Claire McCaskill or Russ Carnahan is at their local home, and then surround the house.
if there weren't any protests, the ignorant, and uninformed public wouldn't think there would be anything to criticize the gov. about. Besides these protests were covered by every major media outlet in the country, where have you been?
Good thing I don't watch the MSM. Just what is it you don't like? It has only been 10 weeks since the inauguration. Sore losers. Grow a pair won't ya.
Oh, and almost forgot, next time you folks refer to Claire McCaskill as an "old hag", 'old lady", etc., take a look around the next conservative rally you're at- if they aren't a white, older majority, I'll attend your next "tea party".
And heh, the "2 counter-protesters went home" comment made me chuckle too. Good work guys, your couple hundred people is really going to scare Obama, what with his 100,000 STL rally and all.
Go home, and shut up. Stop cluttering my riverfront.

My favorite part was the guy in the red shirt; "The only way to stimulate the economy is to the cut taxes and promote business hurr hurr hurr"
Funny, we tried that the last 8 years and that is precisely what got us butt-fucked in the first place. As far as I'm concerned, your movement is dead, your philosophy is dead, and your ideas are dead.
Or the "unconstitutional spending".. newsflash, thats what Congress is supposed to do. Spend. Its in the constitution.
willia3r: "I'd dare someone to convince me that these so-called "Tea Parties" aren't simply about disaffected Neocons & McCain supporters getting on the "Bash Obama" express.
this is totally wrong... the real supporters of this movement recognize the fact that both republicans and democrats are the same when it comes to who they are pleasing, and that is the financial corporations (federal reserve is a big one)
Such a righteous crowd these folks are. But I have to ask some questions about this "Tea Party" & the "socialism" that's being protested at these events:
1. Where was the protest when Bush & GOP bailed out the Airlines?
2. Remember the Iraq/Afghanistan conflict? We have $1Trillion in debt from these wars thank to Bush & the GOP! Why no protest at that point?
3. What happen the $350 billion from the first bailout sponsored by Bush?
I'd dare someone to convince me that these so-called "Tea Parties" aren't simply about disaffected Neocons & McCain supporters getting on the "Bash Obama" express.
Yeah, I'm wary of that as well. But a lot are genuine, free-thinking patriots, standing up for the Constitution and the notions of personal liberty/economic freedom, and the ideals our country was founded on. Inside job 9/11, the fraudulent wars-for-profit, the Patriot Act, the bankster "Bailout" extortion - which 90%+ were vocally against, and now the gargantuan stimulus bill, which Congress didn't even read.
Joe the Plumber called out both parties incompetence at his tea party, even. :]
I truly hope so. To Me Mr' Snatelli's rant on Feb 19 reeks of false populism given his ties to the banking/investment which was knee deep in Socialistic largesse, courtesy of President Bush.
So many independents like myself have been frustrated with the loss of liberties, & the Talk Radio shows that were supposedly against "Big Govt" say very little for the last 8 years.
Heck, I'm waiting for the GOP to deliver on its 1994 "Contract With America"! I smell Partisan politics in this...
I think that the common american people may be played for fools here. It just seem too fast that this "Tea Party" movement got its legs up like it did. Most Grassroots movements usually start slowly from the bottom up with a common man frustrated with his position, not from the top with a guy who is basically a shill for the Banking Industry.
I'm not trying to be a conspiracy quack here but it seems to me that there's more going on here than what we common American people are being privy to.
Im not sure bout you guys, but im not really down for helpin other people out with paying their mortgage when i am struggling to pay my own. Im also not down for a guy that noms tax cheats as his cabinet members. Im also not down for a guy that says one thing and does another like when he said that he would go line for line on bills to get rid of pork spending and then this thing comes out and he doesnt even bother. One month in and the guy has allready become a run of the mill politition.
You are right, Barack Obama is going back on his word by alllowing earmarks into the stimulus bill. I also found equally distressing how Rahm Emmanuel blew off the complaints about the stuff going to his district.
Don't get me wrong, I would love nothing more than for the American people to have an epiphany & realize that BOTH POLITICAL parties are beholden to the Corporate Elite, & that Crony Capitalism is not the same as TRUE free markets. Ron Paul had good explanation about that one.
I totally agree. Both parties are crap. And i believe that this is a good signal to the corporate and political elite that we the people are now fed up with their crap and inability to listen to what we actually want instead of going on their own agenda. Its not just the republicants or the democraps, its both of em and we the people need to recognize that this partisan politics bs is just meant to distract us from whats really going on in OUR country. THEY WORK FOR US and not vice versa!
As many as it takes. Too many people in this country get away with shoddy & sloppy thinking. Big government is big govt whether it is in the form of National Defense and Corporate Socialism OR in the form of Welfare & human needs-style Govt.
Many of these folks, not ALL mind you are simply bashing Obama. If they were TRULY concerned about the disruption of the dollar & the bankruption of this country then these protests would have happened long ago, from Nixon up 'til now.
Take the "tea party" to the next level - National!
If you're fed up, send a single tea bag to the White House with a note attached, "Repeal the stimulus bill. Eliminate all "pork barrel" spending. Preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution."
Spread the word.
Send on Friday, March 13th and Washington will have to take notice that the citizenry, the voters, are not pleased.
I guess they're going to shut down our Free Speech before they come for our guns, or maybe they'll take our guns first, and THEN shut down our Free Speech.
What a great cause! I wish I could've been there. It's nice to know that not everyone is swept over by the idea of Obama taking tons of hard-earned tax money and throwing it around. Boo to socialism and unwise spending!
While presuming to socialize this country, Mr. Obama forgets one thing. A growing number of Americans are still aware of their rights and will speak out. This Republic has worked for 233 years, and nobody, no matter how charismatic or eloquent can move to destroy it in one month. The flame of Liberty burns bright.
Claire McCaskill's office was protested in kansas city today, our first protest, and there will be more Claire, perhaps next weekend.......... you better hide you face you old bag......... we are gonna hammer it home Claire, you shove your head up our asses for the last time lady
Maybe next time they could do this a little later in the day I hate that I couldn't make it. I understand that when liberals have a protest it can be schedualed on normal bussiness hours because they believe they deserve wellfare and housing and health insurance. They dont need to work for that LOL THATS A GOD GIVING RIGHT ( YEAH RIGHT ) ANYWAY KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK HOPEFULLY I CAN JOIN THE NEXT ONE.
Your just another sheep, still sleeping, still complacent with your civil liberties being taken away. You just like that a black man is doing it now and not some old white guy anymore, it makes it feel different right? Well you can go ahead thinking this has anything to do with left vs. right. You have fallen for the trap and deserve it for criticizing true patriots who demand truth and justice from our leadership.
Were you this upset the last 8 years too? When our rights really were being trampled on? When we were being lied into war? When our president couldn't put two coherent sentences together? President Obama hasn't been in office for 10 weeks yet. Get a grip.
Of course I've always been mad about a dumbass like Bush going into office even after 9/11 when he had the highest approval rating of any president ever when he said we were going to war, i criticized him. But there is a bigger anger now when, a liar like Obama talks about change, is totally the opposite and people still believe him. 10 wks is nothing I agree, but when you look at all the things Obama has done wrong in that short time, its ridiculous. Sorry but I cant get a grip when im lied to.
Obama said he would get the troops out of Iraq immediately. Now its 25 months. He spoke of change, but now he sent 35,000 troops to Afghan. Obama spoke of diplomacy with the Middle East. He approved CIA bombing Pakistan despite being told by Pakistan leaders that innocent children were being killed. He spoke of reversing Bush policies, for example the patriot act, he has now reinstated it and expanded government wiretapping on the American people. He spoke of economic change but his treasury sec
-retary is the former president of a bank in New York and approved the bailouts. He spoke of getting out of NAFTA, then he told Canadian officials that he was just speaking politics. I want to like the guy, because he is black, because he is a great speaker, but I cant stand his Bush policies.
#1 Actually, Clinton said she would pull out immediately.#2 Afgan is where a lot of the problem is. #3 'He approved CIA bombing Pakistan despite being told by Pakistan leaders that innoc children were being killed." Of course he didn't. That decision was made by the cia operatives superiors and was stat. Ultimately it was his fault of course, but you are being disengenuous. The Patriot act has not been re-enstated and wiretapping has not been expanded. Where do you get all this mininformation?
wow, i have provided facts, and yet you choose to stand on his side even though he is wrong. Its crazy. Seriously google is your best friend. if bush ever did any of this, the majority of the people would be outraged. But its a black guy.... I get it.... change. Great speaker, change. goodbye, please dont reply
OK??? Could you please explain to me how the Obamanation's MASSIVE wasteful spending is a good thing? Obama has WASTED more money in one signature than President Bush spent in 8 years of war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Thats not a change that could possibly be good!
Just who told you that piece on nonsense? what about the 750 billion bush spent in dec.? Did you know that as of now you are paying less in federal taxes than you were this time last year? You guys just sound like sore losers to me.
you libs never fail to bring Bush into everything. maybe its because you can't face reality anymore: obama is the president and within his 3 months in office, he has already almost doubled the debt that he inherited from Bush which had been accumulated in eight years while fighting two wars. GET OVER IT!!!!!!!
bush should be brought up cuz he was leading this country into the crap we have now. Obama's administration does what it has to (just like booosh would have too) to get us over this thing and all you guys do is bitch whine and cry.
Now I know what the sound of loser Republicans and Libertarians sound like. It is like music to my ears.
Yes we are paying less Federal income taxes, especially those who are unemployed. Howeverr, we are all paying a shitload more taxes on every damn thing we buy! A tax is a tax and now we will have less net income to spend and pay bills. They are decieving people by making them believe taxes are going down while inflation and more new taxes take effect. Again, a tax is a tax!!
Boo freaking hoo. Is that all you guys care about is money? I guess so since all the right wingers are bitching about is taxes. I think you guys should have your own state. How about Idaho? It has a decent temperature during the winter. And you can deal with the Mormons as your boogie man.
Do you own the Lipton Tea company, tire man?
If yes, there goes your company!!!

Liljay4919 2 years ago

Their lack of respect is disgusting.
jimitl5 2 years ago
Welcome to what Conservatives endured throughout the Bush administration. "Angry, Hateful" libs denying that Bush was elected for 8 years. "He's not my President" was the rally cry, I believe. Did we whine and complain about it? NO!!!
Forgive us for having a protest after 3 months.

TEA PARTY PARTICIPANTS PLEASE TAKE NOTE!
Please heed the warnings that there will in fact be a concerted effort to infiltrate and hijack these tea party rallies. Take a bit of advice and please implement some form of security to insure the integrity of these rallies.
Please, dont learn the hard way—your opponents play for keeps.
A word to the wise is sufficient.

Arghhh.
jeffsummstl 3 years ago
Again, that is the misinformed right wing nuts proving their ignorance. Look around those tea parties and you'll see NRA nuts, the anti abortion crowd and various other people upset that they lost. We need to remind them to grow up and act like adults.
Deanmacman 2 years ago
I believe in the things these people believe in, but this "protest" doesn't do much for me except make me embarrassed. I just see a bunch of people standing around at the riverfront yelling "WE'VE HAD ENOUGH" for ten seconds (starts at :35 in this video). Who heard this? I don't even see any local press in this video. If they really want to send a message, at the very least they should wait until Claire McCaskill or Russ Carnahan is at their local home, and then surround the house.

3. What happen the $350 billion from the first bailout sponsored by Bush?

willia3r 3 years ago
Yeah, I'm wary of that as well. But a lot are genuine, free-thinking patriots, standing up for the Constitution and the notions of personal liberty/economic freedom, and the ideals our country was founded on. Inside job 9/11, the fraudulent wars-for-profit, the Patriot Act, the bankster "Bailout" extortion - which 90%+ were vocally against, and now the gargantuan stimulus bill, which Congress didn't even read.
Joe the Plumber called out both parties incompetence at his tea party, even. :]
giganticbeast 3 years ago

One month in and the guy has allready become a run of the mill politition.
DIZZIE56 3 years ago 2
You are right, Barack Obama is going back on his word by alllowing earmarks into the stimulus bill. I also found equally distressing how Rahm Emmanuel blew off the complaints about the stuff going to his district.
Don't get me wrong, I would love nothing more than for the American people to have an epiphany & realize that BOTH POLITICAL parties are beholden to the Corporate Elite, & that Crony Capitalism is not the same as TRUE free markets. Ron Paul had good explanation about that one.
willia3r 3 years ago 2

Be polite and send to:

Of course I've always been mad about a dumbass like Bush going into office even after 9/11 when he had the highest approval rating of any president ever when he said we were going to war, i criticized him. But there is a bigger anger now when, a liar like Obama talks about change, is totally the opposite and people still believe him. 10 wks is nothing I agree, but when you look at all the things Obama has done wrong in that short time, its ridiculous.
