Are you sure this is a 2000? Not being mean I'm never a hater on nissans but I have a automatic 2000 maxima and I get to 60 allot quicker and I only have a cold air intake on mine.
ok. I have a 2000 nissan Maxima gle. Its really pissing me off. Often when its cold or sits for a little while I start it up and start driving and I hit the gas but it doesnt gain speed and the rpms stop raising and somtimes jumps? and when I try and get on it it gets to 4.5 or 5 rpms and doesnt go any higher? Can any help me out.?
@austinmccarty there's 4 of them on the 00 maxima. I had a similar problem, replaced all 4, and remapped my ecu, the problem is gone and the engine feels brand new. It'll cost you around 300 at a dealer or a lot cheaper if you do the work yourself
@austinmccarty SAME THING HAPPENED TO MINE... listen to dagcarson and check your mass airflow sensor because thats what was wrong with mine... heard maxima's have a bad rep with those lol
Nice run!!! I used the stopwatch on my phone and recorded your run 4 different times, from the time the clutch hit the flywheel, until the needle was dead on 60 and got the following times:
1) 6.75
2) 6.75
3) 6.79
4) 6.79
There's consistency for you!! lol
The average 0-60 for you car then is 6.77 seconds, or basically 6.7 seconds!! Nice!!
Scion against a Maxima phhhh lol comparing a cheap peice of shit car to a luxury sports car i dont think so... ok take a new 2009 Scion and new 2009 Maxima you will see a difference even my Auto Maxima which is loaded with 225 to the wheels cuz i tweaked it will smoke that little turtle shit, i'll even take the stock 2000 maxima and beat it w/e man try a Turbo maybe it will give a kick.
@th3ha1og0d yea dude youre dumb you must have started timing as soon as the vid started. plus hes got a point its a clutch and he didnt drop it so giv him a little lee way cuz the clutch release was a slow.
mine is 2000. i raced same maxima last weak. and we were pretty even. i'm just wondering if maxima driver didn't know how to drive or my audi is that fast
I'm surprised your check engine light isn't on haha. I just traded in my 00 Maxima on a new Scion tC. My max had 68K miles on it (I bought it w/ 60K), and the check engine light was probably on a half dozen times during those 8K miles. I don't know what Nissan was smoking back in 00, but that car had some issues compared to earlier model Maximas.
The 5th gen models were not as sound as the 3rd and 4th gen. This one just has problems with o2 sensors and ignition coils, other than that its great.
Yeah that's what I thought for a while, too. Three of the four O2 sensors in the car failed on me. What surprised me though was that the clutch slave/master cylinders also failed, the catalytic converter failed (covered under emissions warranty luckily), and I was having intermittent stalling problems, too (especially in cool/wet weather). I hope you have better luck than I did, dude. It's really a great car when it works properly, but I guess mine never really did.
Yeah Maximas 99 and before were awesome. Nissan, however, declined very rapidly from 2000 onward. I'd trust every other Japanese automaker more than them these days, and possibly even a few American and Korean ones. I think it's funny that everyone thinks this car is fast. I got an Impreza STI after dumping the tC I replaced the Maxima w/ (tC was refreshingly reliable but ultimately too slow). The STI is a full 2 seconds faster 0-60 than a Maxima of any generation.
lol agreed. I still love the quality of mine though, it looks damn good for being 13 years old.. the leather/interior almost looks new, and the Bose is still bitchin :). My mom actually has a brand new Max SV, but I definitely think the '97's body feels a lot more solid than the new one (especially when washing). Which is really sad, the new one is really damn nice too. I'm pretty surprised you had that many problems with your '00 though
Believe me, I was surprised w/ all the problems my car had, too haha. I never would have bought the piece of bull if I'd known what I was in for :-) I've read a lot of entertaining reviews on 04-08 Max's that all say the transmission is crap and jerks between gears. I thought that gen was ugly anyway. The 09's do look nice though. If I hadn't written Nissan that profanity-filled complaint when I sold the Maxima swearing I'd never buy another product of theirs I might get an 09 :-)
@muddchem07 haha yeah I'm not a huge fan of the 04-08's. they're nice, but I'd rather have the '97 that I already have :)..Or an '02/'03 lol. And the new Max is incredible, you may have to reconsider getting one! Even the torque steer is pleasantly absent.. Definitely a fantastic luxury car- the interior quality is Infiniti-grade, especially with leather and all the amenities

turbo? lol then the piece of shit scion is gonna blow...
LamboWINS 3 years ago
On second thought I think you were even quicker than that.
MKL257 3 years ago
The timer should start when the speedometer needle moves. In that case 0-60 in just under 8 seconds. Good job.
MKL257 3 years ago
It is a manual transmission, i start the timer when the clutch hits the flywheel.
dagcarson 3 years ago
correct
LamboWINS 3 years ago
0-60 = 9.4 seconds.
Fail.

hows the tc compared to a maxima performance wise???
napalm84 3 years ago
Great - it actually runs without having problems constantly, unlike the 00 Maxima I had (which I took perfect care of).
muddchem07 3 years ago
so is tc faster??
napalm84 3 years ago
Yes, because it actually runs :-) 0-60 times don't matter if the check engine light is always on dude!

everything needs maintenance at some point...
