If she is Vietnamese how come I don't understand her? Que barbaridad eh? Toi noi dua, toi noi dua cac ba con oi. I myself speak and write 4 languages, Vietnamese, English, French, Spanish, and Chinese. I can only understand German but can't speak or write fluently. It's so good to be multi-linguistic but one should always know how to speak one's native tongue. I was born in France but have lived around the world since I'm with an organization that provide medical aid to people around the world.
je rentre juste du Vietnam et c'est magique de retrouver cette chanson qui commence a etre connue la bas et qui est bien en accord avec ce pays magique
the least she's doing is remembering her roots and where she had came from. Her parents were vietnamese so that makes her vietnamese. No matter what you do, it's in your blood. Just because she doesn't know vietnamese doesn't mean she's not, she's just raised in an environment where not much people spoke vietnamese. If I ask you what you were, you probably wouldn't know your true self because people like you don't care about their roots.
j'aime bien Quynh Anh et je suis très fier d'elle! J'aime aussi le francais, pourtant je l'apprends depuis un an,et j'espère faire des études en France!
About 380 young monks and nuns who are followers of Buddhist leader Thich Nhat Hanh, have called on the French president, Nicolas Sarkozy, to grant them temporary asylum, after they were forced to flee Bat Nha monastery and repeatedly attacked by vigilantes allegedly hired by the Vietnamese authorities. They say the government regards their leader as a threat to its authority due to his fast-growing popularity among the youth.
Who says Quynh Anh can't speak Vietnamese? And why all the hating talks? What did this young lady do to you, those calling her names? Must be a bunch of young Vietnamese punks who have not even an ounce of talents and who are troubled w/ the personal identity crises growing up in this adopted land of America. You can critique ppl but do it in a constructive way. Look in the mirror first b4 going around calling others retards! Wish we have more of Quynh Anh around the world ~ keep up the singing!
I don't understand the ignorant comments that have been posted here. Just because she cannot speak Vietnamese does not automatically make her a Twinkie, a sellout or any of that. She was, after all, raised in a traditional Vietnamese home... She can still appreciate her Vietnamese heritage without speaking Vietnamese fluently....And maybe it was her parents' decision that resulted in this language barrier...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
sure blame her twinkie self to her parents.. haha i love this defense. if a viet person cant speak nor have the ablity to understand viet then she is not viet she is jus an azn looking person. SHE Aint viet.... let me ask u this.. if a watch cant tell time is it still a watch? NOT it aint.. it jus look like a watch.... hence this etard is jus a wannabe viet.. aint viet.. stop sweating. LEARN some viet..... and stop blaming ur sell out parents for ur own inablity to learn VIET..
First of all, I am not blaming her parents for anything because there was no one at fault--you yourself made that assumption and connection. I simply stated that the way she is now may be somewhat attributed to the environment in which she lived. Unless you are ignorant and do not read much literature, which can be concluded from how you communicate and present yourself, you should be able to understand that all parents have different approaches to raising their children.
Some immigrant parents choose to raise their children anew when they move to a different country, fearing, for instance, inability to adjust well so they may not push their children to retain their own heritage in a number of ways, including choosing to teach their children their "native" language. And there are certainly other ways to acknowledge and show appreciation for your culture besides language. You may understand religious and cultural customs, for example.
In addition, why would use "sellout" if you are encouraging people to not blame the parents. Your reason seems contradictory... And your analogy is far too simple to actually be valid as a comparative example against this particular situation. For instance, ethnically she is still vietnamese. And why do you automatically assume that she is not currently learning vietnamese? Perhaps she is, in which case, your dogmatic and skewed view may rendered even more illogical.
to further illustra how this twinkie is a huge sell out.. she can speak french and english and cant speak viet. hahaha i bet the retard cant even pronouce her name propertly in viet tongue.. what a HUGE ASS sell out riding on the viet pride. bish need to step down and learn some viet..... k thanx.. btw i didnt say she was ugly nor she cant sing.. i was simply pointing out the fact that she is a sell out.. k thanx..
THe irony of this song is so amazing. a girl who display viet pride and yet cant speak her own native tongue. GOD Dam retard. ur one dumb sheep. i was born in american and i speak viet perfectly. LEARN ur ROOT. NOOB
She knows her root. That's the reason she dedicated her debut song to Vietnam. Why? You can't be Vietnamese without knowing the language? Who says that?
So even if you were born by two Vietnamese parents and you don't know how to speak Vietnamese, so that doesn't make you who you are? Don't say anything if you don't know anything. Check your spellings.
mirza u are a moron.. why would i be proud of quynh she is a twinkie. yellow on the outside and all white on the inside. a pure wannabe viet namese. what kinda viet cant speak viet? a pure piece of ca ca i tell u... might as well change her name from quynh into lisa or linda like any other white wash chix. lame...... if u cant speak the tongue langues.. then u are jus an asian looking person.. thanx god the sell out azn chix aint reading this..
Do you even speak French? If you were listening to her then you'd know that she said she has Never known her homeland. Also, her grandmother (who used to live with her) spoke Vietnamese most of the time. She isn't a wannabe, she's just been raised without the influences of her family's native language. Just because she doesn't know now, and wants to know, does not make her a wannabe! She IS vietnamese, so I really don't get what your weird little problem is. Get over it
I'm just going to redirect you to my previous comment which you obviously didn't read. It's not my fault that you can't speak French, but if you LISTENED to her or to anybody else, then you would know that she wishes to visit her home country. She isn't a wanna be. Please get over it, and find something with substance to freak out about, okay?

Xin chào Tôi Việt và tôi thực sự ghét những gì bạn Pháp đã đến quê hương của chúng tôi. Fuck U!! Tôi sẽ tiêu diệt bạn ếch và chiên nó cho thực tế.
Ban phap? wtf? Are you referring to the French invasion ?
If so... you are ignorant. The french never did much to harm the Vietnamese, it's the Viet Giang, who translated bad and then led to confusion.
Language was hard for French soldiers, so they used Viet Giang to translate for them, thus led to false translation. When this happened, Viet Giang abused their right to translate and accuse people they hate. Lots of innocent died
The French remodeled roads, bridges, built churches and etc...
7spear you dont believe that crap you wrote do you? Because if you do you need to go back and kick your history teachers ass for lying to you. Vietnam was a French colony and they exploited Vietnam and its people for their natural resources (tin and rubber primarily). The French never helped the Vietnamese do anything and if something just happened to help the Vietnamese it was only because it benefited the French first and was purely accidental.
I learned it from out of nowhere ( can't remember how)
Anyways, I believe they helped industrialize much of Vietnam. Now the tin and rubber part, yes I agree on that. They infact leeched it out of us but more importantly treated us like crap. I'm not sure if the industrialization is an "accident," but I'm pretty sure they funded and gave ideas somewhat that eventually led to the creation of those.
