For all those bagging truck drivers out. I do 50,000km's a year mostly on the New England Highway and can say in 10 years, I have only come across one cowboy truck driver. He was having a bad day I reckon. I prefer driving with the B-Doubles and Singles apposed to cars. Why, because 99% percent of them know the road rules and keep left and have the experience behind them. This is from a car driver. Keep the country going boys and I hope use all make it home safe.
As a non-truckie I have survived by yielding to the "Right of Weight". Too bad others don't do the same.
I discussed this many times with my late cousin whilst fishing (he died too young from cancer not accident). He spent some 12+ years doing long haul. It later years his "truck" had wings flying small strips up and down James Bay in the Canadian artic.
While there were the accidents arising from brain dead 4 wheelers, there were also the ones from overworked truckers.
see everyone blames truckies for accidents but little fuck heads get infront of them and then jump on the brakes and boom truck goes straight over them so everyone back up aye and give them a brake and yous all reckon trucks shuld be banned from the roads but think about this without trucks australia stops
Mattyjh69 it's not always the truckies falt alote of the time it's the other vechiles on the road and also truckies are pushed for time. But as a truckies daughter I understand what your saying about truckies getting on and all of that but we need to realize if we keep saying it's truckies the will keep going on strick and the country will stop
Last nite, bloke working the wharves got killed so they went on strike today cause that is the 2nd person to die this year. Dozens of truckies have died already this year, the same as every other year yet if there is talk of a strike all truckies are labeled as selfish and not caring. It is bullshit. Truckies need to unite and put a stop to deaths on the highways. As I write this the Sturt Highway is blocked near Hay cause 2 b-doubles have headon'd & 2 more drivers are dead. Its not good enough.
I love this song, a friend found it for me after I lost my big brother in a truck accident 15 years ago this september, he was 25 and missed everyday since, and his name upon the wall, thoughts and big squeezies to all who know xoxoxoxox
This song (Names Upon The Wall) is a good tribute song .... for those who don't know the story, the names upon the wall are at the Truck Driver's Memorial at Tarcutta. Another of Slim's songs (Lights On The Hill) gives its name to the Queensland Truck and Coach Driver's Memorial at Gatton.
yeah touching tribute to all those affected my uncle died behind the wheel they said he had a massive heart attack before he hit the tree we thank god he did not take anyone else out with him that day every time i drive my truck past that tree i think of him thank you for that
been drivin road trains, b-doubles, semis, tankers, car carriers, heavy haulage, dry bulk, tarcutta and nhil change overs, you name it i done it. and to see this it just keeps me at bay. when i first started off i was a cowboy, but wen a mate of mine died behind the wheel it told me to stop think and take it easy. before i leave home i watch this religiously, just to remind me to take it easy and not to rush even if im 10 minz late.
Thanks mate mite see ya headin down the hume one day
I haul logs in central british columbia canada and have had many close calls and a few crashes but God kept me alive . I lost several friends to truck MVAs and it is hard but there was a purpose in it not that they deserved it but to show us that remain that life is frail. I also work as a part time firefighter and I think truckers as big a HEROES as firefighters. TRUCKERS=PROFESSIONAL DRIVERS ROLL ON EIGHTEEN WHEALER ROLL ON
its sad but just the way it is, i drive interstate bne-syd-melb-mackay, and have lost one to many mates and have put one over myself so i know its not a nice experiance but it is the way it goes im afraid and the job still has to be done
This is such a sad film clip and song. My husband was killed whilst at work driving interstate in NSW 7 months ago in March 2008. He leaves behind two children, his mum and myself. His name was inducted onto the wall in Tarcutta this year. My blessing and thoughts go out to all those drivers that have lost their lives and their families, and I pray for those that still travel the lonely miles.
sorry to hear about your husband, i feel for you, i havent lost anyone close but my mate and i had a stiff throat, i cant imagine how it would feel to lose a husband or wife.
Its tough, but life goes on and I have to make the kids life positive. We have wonderful and positive memories of him....and always will. I wish more people had respect for how difficult the job is and the toll that it can take on drivers, their families and anyone associated with the transport industry. Thank you for your kind comments, I appreciate it. :)
@DejaBlu72 im sorry about ur husband as well and those who have lost their lives not even in the truck but in the cars that were totaled by the trucks
sorry to hear about mates, my best mate was killed near mackay, head on collision in 2 kenworths, he was coming home, and the other driver fell asleep and ran straight into him. RIp linal. thx for commenting wayne.
tuff, very sorry to hear about your dads mate, not too long ago my mate was killed driving home. he had finished his load and was coming home. he would have made it , but 1 thing went wrong, RIP truckies.
yes bud, when im on the road , i see these type of accidents sometimes, its really scary to see what could be me, but i drive safe thats all that matters. thx for commenting
Not to forget the Lady truckies as well......"Toots" Holtzhiemer is on the wall....a Legend in Far North Queensland.....
RIP to them all......

Touching memorial video for those who went so that others could get the things they need.
Truckers are the life blood of any society.
