@360fatcats It heats up the pool of mercury in the vessel.
A large cooling fan underneath the vessel will cool the rectifier.
The fan is not visible on the video as the rectifier is in a locked room

@brittlemind If complete try to sell complete on fleebay or donate it to a museum.
If you take the mercury out, be careful as it is poisonous, google for safe disposal of the Hg.

@BarneySaysHi A couple of 100 Ampères. Often 2 or 3 trams running of it at the same time.
@BarneySaysHi Rated at 675 kW, about 1200 Ampères at 550 Volts.
